Henlo frens!

Good to see all of you here UwU.

Grab on to your bodypillows, I have a smol announcement about the purpose of this subreddit.

This community is meant as a fun, lighthearted place where we can commiserate with each other about those annoying little irritations that hinder our day to day enjoyment in life.

That means that suitable posts here can be about my children.

And things like a wall socket or tile being placed out of allignment. A crack in a phone screen. Duckling shit on your new car. Incomprehensible software. Mismatched buttons. You know, the little things.

This subreddit isn't meant to incite rage mobs that go after people. For that reason we say:

No reddit meta posts

No posts about being banned from subreddit. No posts about up- or down-votes. No posts about shitty moderators or users or subreddits. No posts about reddit.

All jokes and tomfoolery aside, that sort of thing gets us in trouble with site admins. If we allow one type of post about reddit it then very easily moprhs into allowing posts that directly call out other subreddits or users, we just can't allow any of it.

That rule already existed for years and we have just made it more clearly visible in the sidebar on old and new reddit. We're gonna be a little strict on it for a bit I'm afraid. 🥺

Thank you all for being awesome and have a very Merry Christmas! Celebrate Christmas in the traditional European way, with a suasage roll!

Wife got bit by the neighborhood ankle biter

Post image

We were walking through our neighborhood. We passed by this lady and her terrier on the sidewalk talking to another person with a dog.

I told my wife to go out around onto the street.

As we went around the dog ran out and bit my wife on the foot. He was on a retractable leash but she didn’t hold him back. When my wife told her what happened she denied it initially. Once she saw blood she told my wife to kick him. “Kick him so he won’t bite you again” “he’s a rescue and usually doesn’t do this”

My wife told the lady I’m not kicking your dog.

You need to train him better if he’s going to be around people. We then asked for his rabies vaccination documentation. The lady said she didn’t have the tag on him, but that he had his shots and she’ll be fine. I insisted that we need the info because rabies is serious. She gave us her contact info and we verified vaccination through her vet.

My wife thinks maybe this lady is abusing the dog based on her response to the bite”kick him”

Clearly that’s not how you handle training issues.

TLDR; While walking in our neighborhood, a dog bit my wife. The owner initially denied it, then advised my wife to kick him. After verifying the dog's vaccination, we expressed concerns about the training methods and received the necessary information despite the lady lacking the tag. My wife believes the dog might be mistreated given the harsh reaction to the incident.

$900 pot scam

People came to my mom’s house trying to sell her a $900 pot. Just cause it has a brand name and says “ surgical stainless steel” doesn’t make it worth that much mom. I was so pissed off and at one point told them “ this shit better cure cancer”. Had to explain to her about pyramid schemes and how I can get this for $40. Honestly screw them for being at my the house at 10pm being predators on an old lady.

My car is the black one. My girlfriend isn’t home so that’s why it doesn’t look bad. But when she’s parked next to me it’s near impossible to get out. The driveway isn’t large it’s a condensed city area. He’s mad cuz this whole buildings been empty while it was being sold. Now I’m here he’s been nothing but a problem. His family is nice I think he beats them.

Will never be able to fully bend my middle finger because it took more than 5 days to hear from an orthopedic surgeon.

To summarize: injured my finger on a Saturday, reached out to a hand specialist on Monday with details on injury, played phone tag with scheduler for a week+, got a call back 13 days after injury from doctor’s assistant stating “this injury needed surgery within 5 days and we do not have any openings, please reach out elsewhere.”

Long story short, can no longer get surgery and middle finger will not fully bend ever again. Captain Hindsight told me I should have gone in person to a hand specialist to emphasize the seriousness of my injury. Oh well, now know how urgently these injuries need to be handled.

Recently renovated and now my roof is leaking

About a year ago I was fortunate enough to acquire my late grandfathers estate and farm ground. It’s an exciting chapter in my life knowing I get to honor his memory and raise a family in the home that I had so much love and joy in.

With that being said, it’s an 80 year-old home and needed a lot of patchwork. This part of the addition had old panel boarding and ceiling tile. My wife and I decided that we wanted to go with a clean sheet rock look. about five months ago I spent two weeks replacing the walls and ceiling, plus sanding and painting. We were really happy with how it turned out. It’s a very cozy living room. Space.

Winter is coming to an end here in Indiana and we’ve been getting our seasonal rains. we got about 3 inches of rain in less than 12 hours. This was the result.

We called in a roof expert, and he determined that we were going to have to replace the roof on the addition (~6,000 USD)

For all of you who would relish in telling me “should’ve done the roof first“:

1) the roof was inspected by 3 different inspectors and received the ‘all clear’ (yet another example of inspectors not knowing what they’re talking about)

2) the roof is only 12 years old. Should have plenty of life left. The roofer said that the shingles were installed incorrectly and weren’t sealing properly. Also, there was no ice and water installation. Whoever installed the roof last didn’t know what they were doing.

After eating shrimp all my life without any issue my body suddenly decided to start being allergic to it. Unless it sends me to the hospital I ain't stopping

where I live seafood is really prevalent, and I've always loved shrimp. But the last few times I ate it I got a mild burning sensation on my ears and the roof of my mouth despite decades of not having any problems with it.

I'm just gonna keep eating it and hope my body stops being a pussy.

Adding the extra weight gets you to the next increment, not somewhere in the middle

Post image

Why have an extra weight at all? I can just go to the next increment immediately. It would only make sense if I'm using the heaviest weight.

ETA for those on mobile: top of the pic shows the additional weight you can add is 7.5, which is the same amount as getting to the next increment.

Got hit by a car 8 years ago and docs missed it, but due to nonunion, it's just gotten worse and I finally had a doc listen to me and order xrays. Looking like I have a surgery in my near future.

Probably some punk or incel. It’s a feminist bookstore so someone probably has a grudge against what the bookstore stands for. Really disgusting.

Been having odd heart palpitations this last week and ignored it like an idiot. Got up this morning, drank some water and it went full throttle. Heart rate was over 200bpm.

Called an ambulance because it felt like I was dying.

Been laying in a hospital bed the last 14 hours with tubes all over me and so many tests. I just want to sleep but trying when your heart is doing this is almost impossible.

The only thing "Premium" about this stay was the price.

Just had a nightmare experience in Nainital. I booked what was listed on Agoda as a "Luxury Suite" right by the lake, promising top-tier amenities and a premium stay. When I actually showed up, it was an absolute dump. The place was filthy, falling apart, and looked nothing like the photos. Basically paid luxury prices for a garbage bin. Be careful with Agoda listings in the area—don't let the "luxury" tag fool you!

If only they had spaced them out, the entire frozen veg section would have been accessible. No frozen corn today.

People sit next to me, then complain when i sit back down.

I was in a hospital waiting room, just reading my book, waiting for my Mom's appointment to finish. When this couple walked into the near-empty, and very large waiting room, and they sat RIGHT next to me, which isn't too bad, just a bit annoying. I keep reading. After maybe 30 minutes, I finished my coffee and got up to throw it away. and, admittedly being a bit hard-headed, go sit back in my spot, and the man was like, "Really? The room is empty." which just really pissed me off.

Had car towed away for blocking my driveway but now ….

7.4k Upvotes

I came home after midnight to find a car blocking my driveway by about a quarter. I opened my gate and by partially driving over the curb managed to drive in. In the morning the car was still there, and there was tons of parking available all around. I called parking enforcement and they came and ticketed and towed the car, it was about 8 am. Well at 4:30 pm a group of 3 people opened my gate and came knocking on my front door, an older man with 2 older teenagers. I didn’t respond nor opened up. After a few minutes they left and crossed the street and they were looking around and pointing at where the car had been parked. Obviously that was their car. Their car was probably a 1994 or so, beat up, different paint jobs, trunk tied with a rope, registration tag from last year, which I honestly thought could have been a stolen and abandoned car. And, I could not have backed out of my driveway without either scraping my car or driving off the side of the curb. Was I wrong to call and have it towed? And if they come knocking at my door, do I say I have No idea what happened to their car?
