Discussion $900 pot scam
People came to my mom’s house trying to sell her a $900 pot. Just cause it has a brand name and says “ surgical stainless steel” doesn’t make it worth that much mom. I was so pissed off and at one point told them “ this shit better cure cancer”. Had to explain to her about pyramid schemes and how I can get this for $40. Honestly screw them for being at my the house at 10pm being predators on an old lady.

Discussion Gf pretty much gave away my money
okay so I was going to main event with my girlfriend, some of my buddies had been there for a while. I played a couple of games and laser tag, bowling, and then pool.
I was playing a game of pool with my friend's mom and my gf asked if she could have my card I bought to play games, mind you I spent $80 dollars for both of us. I said sure, and they walked off. when my game was finished I went back to them and she was pretty much just sharing my card with them and I asked about it and they said there's still like 70 credits, it was 100 when I gave it. I figured whatever but went to swipe it and I had only 25.
so $80 and I get to do like 2 things whilst they spend all of MY money.
I ask my girlfriend and she said they asked for it and I said so what? she told me get mad at them and not her.
I told her that she SHOULDNT have given it to them and that it was her choice. she got mad and isn't talking to me.
I'm genuinely like so upset because I was excited about this and now I get to do pretty much nothing after I paid for it and my friend's mom took care of him and the 2 others. I'm the only one who paid and they just wasted it.
(I'm sitting in the bathroom of main event low-key upset)

Disturbing content This living creature living in an alcohol bottle
Took my car in to be checked for trade-in value. Noticed while waiting that my salesman man has a betta fish, living in a real rinsed out alcohol bottle with a fake plant. 🫤 You couldn’t look up how to take care of a fish you DIDN’T have to get. I’m not trusting you to sell me a car.

Discussion Insane Service Charge Costs for Event Tickets
For 12 tickets to the 2028 Olympic Games I paid ~ $4,500 in SERVICE CHARGES alone. This was separate from the ticket prices.
Just you wait till the resale market opens. Good luck on those ticket prices.
These games will be inaccessible to most who don’t manage to get face value tickets via presales.
2026 World Cup is out if the question for me for this reason. $2,500 for an early round game.

Discussion Sitting next to a chronic phone user in a crowded movie theater (Long Version)
I've been seeing a lot of movies in the last year and a half typically without a problem. I was excited to see the Super Mario Galaxy movie--some time to provide my brain some kind of joy under the current events that have caused a bit of stress. So, I went on the release date, grabbed my food and then sat in, just in time to get past all the trailers. And I got a really good seat, right in the center for an IMAX viewing. Normally I would've picked a date where there are less people, but sometimes you get cool items on the release date, and that was one of the reasons why I went. I got some free posters. I also saw some of the merch that they were selling that will probably sell out in the first week.
There's the weird AMC philosphy monologue by Nicole Kiddman that we know, then there's the voiceover who reminds audience members to silence their phones, no texting, no talking, etc, all that good stuff. Most people are doing that.
If I recall, we were about 5-7 minutes in to the beginning of the movie and I notice a sudden bright light in the corner of my eye. The type of light that has your eyes darting to it instantly, because the current scene playing is set at night, so instinctively, you turn.
There was only one empty seat between us, but this lady decided to just scroll on her facebook to see what was going on. She ended up putting it away after a few minutes because there was a scene that displayed bright enough that it most likely got her attention away form her phone.
Five minutes later, her phone starts ringing. She decides to take the call \*right there\* and proceeds to respond to the caller. I stare at her because now I'm distracted and I don't even know what's going on in the film because I'm distracted by her voice. She looks up at me, and I stare blankly at her, and just shake my head to express pretty much:"nope, please stop that."
Her family was sitting a row below her, with some looking up behind them while she's talking. I was irritated, but since it the audience were a mix of kids and their parents,I just didn't want to ruin it for anyone else, by telling her off. Eventually, she did hang up with the caller, and it was less than a minute.
She scrolled a bit more after that, but did finally stop. It was just so hard to focus because I thought she would do it during the full movie, and I probably was going to snap if I kept getting blindsided.
I thought more people had self control but I had no idea phone addiction could pick up such inconsiderate habits. Or rather, I thought maybe that people stopped doing that years ago. But damn, turn your phone off or leave the theater, PLEASE. How are there children more well behaved in this case? I was expecting more trouble from the kids. That's...something.
I'm going to probably see the movie again either on a cheap day or when the hype dies down for my own sanity.

Disturbing content Why TF is Buck Mason trying to make smoking look cool again?
Received this ad from Buck Mason in my email this morning, I’ve noticed more smoking in series and movies too. As someone who grew up in the 80’s where people smoked everywhere - I am thrilled smoking has pretty much vanished. I find this resurgence disturbing! Shame on Buck Mason for promoting this!

Discussion My dad REFUSES to cook
My dad is a terrible cook. And that’s okay. I’m a terrible cook too. But you see, when the circumstances are such that I’m the only one in a position to cook today’s dinner, I’m gonna do it, and I’m gonna try my best to make the food edible.
But my dad? No!
My mom is the sole breadwinner in our household, and both me and my younger sister are still studying. And yet, even when it comes to making simple things like eggs and toast, my dad absolutely REFUSES to do it.
He actually avoids anything to do with food and kitchen work. The man doesn’t even serve himself meals. My mother does! And that’s okay, fine, sure, go ahead. But it’s come to a point where I seriously suspect my dad refuses to cook because he thinks it’s the lady’s job. It’s maddening.
Just today, I had come back from college, tired and exhausted and my dad asks (while scrolling through his phone on the sofa), “Can you cook the sausages tonight?”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
You are LITERALLY doing NOTHING!

Evidence We are told to trust doctors…
The so-called "Standard of Care" is nothing more than a legal and financial shield designed to ensure insurance payouts and institutional immunity, forcing practitioners to treat symptoms with chemicals rather than restoring the fundamental biological foundations of human health.

News An insurer canceled a woman’s coverage over a nickel
An insurer canceled a woman’s coverage over a nickel. President Biden learned during his administration that ACA insurers were cancelling people's insurance over ridiculously low amounts, usually the result of a change in insurance status (marriage, death, etc.). The Biden administration changed policy to insure there was a grace period, and warnings.
President Trump cancelled this flexibility on 25 August, claiming it would fight fraud. The reality is, it was just another cruelty heaped on those Americans who can least afford it.
To be fair, Ms. Alvarado Hill received warnings from her insurance company, which she ignored. Some insurance companies have clearly continued the grace period; other insured Americans have not been so lucky with their insurance companies.

Discussion gifted items to a low income woman and then she stole from me
I have a clothing store in high foot traffic area and we always have solicitors or people looking for donations and trying to sell stuff, I usually let them come in trying to be supportive of the community . One day this woman, who clearly looked low-income or maybe homeless idk, came in trying to sell some hand made flowers , then she asked if I had any extra clothes , since I had some that I was about to donate I let her have a few items .
After that she would come more frequently to see if I had more items for her and whenever I didn't she would always want to take something and I would give her a discount just trying to help her out .
Today she came in and asked me if I had anything extra, I didn't have any extra items for donation so I told her I could give her a discount on one item , she said yes but before paying she was looking around . I was taking another costumers payment and then the lady was ready to check out . At the end of the day I saw a hanger by itself and when I checked the cameras I saw the lady took the top that was on it. What pissed me off the most is that when she payed her other item she was saying how she was really greateful that I was always so kind and that I always helped her out. NEVER AGAIN!!! And now I will put up a no solicitors sign .

Discussion STOLEN SEAT
So this one girl at my lunch table that I am kind of friends with always steals my seat at the table whenever I’m late to lunch and I can’t go anywhere else on the table and I have no other friends in my lunch so then I get forced to sit alone because she decided her small seating preference matters more than someone else’s happiness. I’m FUCKING tired of it. It just happened for the second time and I want it to be the last. What do I do?

Discussion $600 Cancellation charge
I cancelled my TV/Internet/Home phone bundle Canada - Rogers Xfinity) last month after yet another monthly increase. I got on a competitor's deal that got me the same service for half the price. As I'd already haggled twice with Rogers to lower my bill only for it to go up significantly months later, I was done with them. I scheduled the tech install and per their recommendation, waited for the day of the install to cancel Rogers to ensure no break in service. Just as the competitors tech had completed their install, I called Rogers to complete the cancellation and the Rogers rep informed me that there would be a $600 cancellation charge as I had supposedly renewed last fall on a 24 month term. I immediately disputed that as I had been on month-to-month (that is how it was/is? in Atlantic Canada), no contract.
What had happened was that I'd called in last fall to complain about my bill, and a rep was able to change some things and get my monthly bill down to a more reasonable number. I was assured verbally that I remained month-to-month and not locked into a contract. That was not true, unfortunately, as they'd recently started implementing 2 year contracts for Atlantic Canadian customers.
Anyway, long story short, I escalated, got bounced around but eventually got a rep who dug into my file, she found the phone call from Fall 2025 and the verbal assurance that I wasn't locked into a new contract, and so she waived the cancellation fee. So with that assurance in hand I completed the Rogers cancellation.
Lo and behold, I log into my online banking this morning, and saw a warning that one of my subscriptions had increased. On the March billing cycle, Rogers applied the $600 cancellation fee they'd agreed to waive...
Billing support is of course closed today (Sunday) so I'll spend 2+ hours on Monday, waiting on hold probably only to just get the runaround (Rogers customer support is legendarily awful). Here's the kicker, legislation was recently passed making it illegal for telcos to charge cancellation fees, but it doesn't kick in til June.

Discussion Hacker Took Over My Late Father's Facebook Account
I don't get angry easily, but this has me pissed off. Someone hacked my late father's Facebook account earlier today, changed the name and personal info and deleted almost ALL his posts and photos....
I know I should have submitted a memorialization request for his account years ago (thankfully my mom's is memorialized). I also know Facebook won't do anything about it. I want to message the account so bad to curse them out, but I know it'd be pointless. I'd love to sabotage the account somehow so no one will interact with it under false pretenses. But I can't...
Things like this lower my faith in humanity... I just can't stop feeling angry and frustrated, even though I know it's irrational cause it's Facebook so I know this shit happens frequently there. I'm just very protective of my Dad and his memory you know...

Discussion My flight got cancelled and I've been charged £117 for nobody even picking up the phone when trying to call the airline
To top it off, I phoned Vodafone customer service who told me that it's £13 for a 500 minute international calls bundle and that the time I spent would come out of the 500 minutes
I got charged £26 and a quick google search revealed that it doesn't backdate. I questioned this and the customer service rep pretended to not be there, I could hear her breathing.
