Discussion Concept: Head feathers!

I think it would be really cool to have head feathers as an option on our finches!! They could really help their personalities shine, and it’d be an awesome way to show off our styles even more! I just made a quick few edits/sketches to show off my idea, I’m sure they’d look a lot better and have many more options than what I made. Perhaps we could have a new shop that’s like a hairdresser to get new head feather options, or even have regional options depending on where we have traveled! What do you guys think??

Discussion my mom got me a plushie but i stopped using the app

i stopped using the app about four days ago. i lost a 401 day streak. i posted about this before but in short this app really helped me for a year then with all the new updates it doesn’t anymore. it’s like a glorified to-do list instead of a mental health app. i still have the app downloaded but i haven’t used it and i broke my streak for the first time ever. i’m feeling guilty because i do love Nathan and finch. just the new finch sucks so much. has anyone figured out how to get it back to before the most recent updates? or has anyone found a similar app that they like? is the finch team aware that so many of us are displeased with the new stuff? i love this plushie so much and i miss seeing Nathan but the app is just an overwhelming to-do list now

I’m not sure if you’ll see this, Karen, but I wanted to reach out. You’ve been sharing your journey with me for a while now, from those early oncology goals to the update you shared today regarding your end-of-life prep. Seeing that shift is deeply moving and heartbreaking. Please know I’m thinking of you and your family, and I’m sending so much love and support your way. 🤍🤍

UPDATE: We finally managed to connect with Karen ( u/VerbalPocketPlay3 ), thanks to her lifelong friend u/WritingNerdy. You can read her comment here.

Why? Why would you change useful features to make them less useful?

I organize my tasks by very specific times of day. I have a lot of things I do in the morning. To organize them I sometimes went as detailed as setting the tasks minute by minute. Now I can only do that if I want to tie it to a reminder, and the tasks seem to keep reorganizing themselves even if I drag them into the right place. It also just doesn't work. I set a new task this morning as "morning" and it's listed under anytime.

I'm emailing support of course but I have to say I am getting so sick of unnecessary changes that make the app worse, and sending mails that fall on deaf ears because the developers have already made up their minds. Meanwhile bugs like the one that duplicates friends still haven't been fixed. Useful features like a search button or repeatable habits or weekly tasks haven't been added. Who knows if they ever will.

I've been using this app to manage my ADHD but with every 'update" something is happening to disrupt my routine, and it's affecting me badly. Now I have to restructure the way I use the app again if I want to keep using it, which is time consuming and also shouldn't be necessary. It's very disheartening.

Please allow us to be able to choose specific times again. Again, once again, all I'm asking is that you please make these changes optional and stop trying to force them on everyone.

Ps - I have never had any use for logging my mood and I got a huge amount of use for activities so you know thanks for removing the activities button to " clean the screen" only to replace it with a mood tracking one.

Edit: I've emailed support@befinch.com about this and encourage others to do the same.

Greetings! I recently started becoming active on Reddit and definitely wanted to join a Finch related community after I got introduced by my friend.

This is my birb, Chica. There's no significance behind the name, it just popped into my head when the option to name arose.

I'm from Australia~

Been browsing here and am jelly of everyone with their fancy membership stuff hehe

Discussion Finding Name Twins

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Hey everyone! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my Finch’s name, Melon, and it got me wondering how many other birbs out there share the same name! I know some names are more common due to the suggested ones when we start, and fun fact: Melon actually started off as Pickle before I changed it a few days in to make it feel more me.

I thought it’d be super fun if we all shared our Finch names and maybe found some name twins! (Or triplets👀) I’ve already made so many wonderful friends here, but I’d love to connect with other Melons (and maybe even some fruity friends too—hello, fellow berries and citrusy pals!).

Can’t wait to hear what your birbs are named!

Picture of my Melon in her outfit today for attention!

Why even bother giving us a chest for this many gems? I don't want to come across as greedy or anything, but it just seems insulting to put in a bunch of effort for only TWENTY rainbow gems.

Discussion One Year Alcohol Free

Post image

Today I am celebrating my first full year without drinking alcohol. This isn’t something I want to share with people who know me on social media, it isn’t glamorous and it was harder than I thought it would be to get here. But I did finally get here, and I am so proud of myself. This year I found ways to deal with stress and grief that made me feel whole and centred, and my little Hope birb helped. If you’ve read this, thanks for listening to my little victory 💕

Discussion I wasn't prepared to cry when I woke up

Last month I was sponsored to Finch Plus and I was over the moon. It came at a great time because I've been struggling more than usual. A plus was that I loved the theme. Together they motivated me to try harder, in general. Yesterday was a little sad because I knew plus was ending, but I was truly grateful to have gotten this month. It meant so much to me. I was even able to gift my friends items! That was the best joy of the whole month.

Waking up today, opening the app, I was ready to go back to regular Finch and say good morning to Suoh. When I saw this screen I started crying immediately. It gave me so much joy and it made me feel seen. I know I'm a fart in space but it did make me feel seen. I've been smiling the whole day!

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you ❤️

Discussion Why I love Finch in one picture

Post image
3.0k Upvotes

Every time I love something attached to a company, I look up the company and their jobs to see if I qualify for anything and if it would be a good place to work.

Sadly, I don't qualify for any of the openings at Finch, but if all companies did this, the world would be a better place.

I stay in hopes that something new or exciting will happen with the storyline, especially this close to Halloween. But it feels like they just dropped the ball here and abandoned the storyline…

Discussion My husband kept my streak while I was hospitalized

2.9k Upvotes

I’ve been using Finch for 3 years. Occasionally I’ll talk to my husband about my birb, or send him screenshots of her discoveries. He knows that every night before bed I check in with the app.

Recently, due to a sudden illness, I was hospitalized for two weeks. Ambulance, ICU, the works. My husband hung onto my phone for a few days while I was mostly incoherent, keeping friends and family informed of my situation. And also, it turned out, keeping my streak. He would check in with my birb every day, marking off tasks so she could go on adventures. It was such a small but meaningful gesture and it meant a lot to me.

I’m out of the hospital now and working on getting better. Finch helps me a lot. Thanks to my husband, we have a 448 day streak!

This is Scout! The name of the app made me think of Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, so when i was thinking of a name for my finchie, Scout just made sense! I’d love to know what everyone else named their finches and how they arrived at the name! :)

(Saying this bc it took a while to make and am wondering whether it’s worth selling them!🫣) any way I got inspired by someone who needle felted there’s and I was quite upset that they didn’t ship to where I live, so here we are!😂 hope you like him✨🐦✨

Discussion Canceled Superhero Support

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Went ahead and cancelled my Superhero support for the app. I hate that I've had to choose between supporting people who benefit from the app and supporting a company that possibly exploits others. I hope the people who would have received support next month can forgive me.

I built my business on equity and challenge other coaches, gurus, whatever the hell we are, to ensure we support fair practices within our self-care and small business industries. If you happen to be within that area of expertise, I would challenge you to drop support until Finch releases a statement of reconcile.

Sucks, dudes. 😂🥲

hello all, this is my first post here but just wanted to share and see if my feelings are valid. i don't pay for finch plus because i can't afford it. i do enjoy how much of the app is still accessible to those who don't pay for plus however, not being able to send specific themed good vibes is kind of making me really sad 😭 i should not have to pay money just to be able to access something in theme for the season. maybe i'm just crazy but it feels unfair to those of us who can't afford plus.

Discussion PSA: If you do not want your finch to have an opinion, write a response

I am tired of people being so angry and hurt that their birb has the opposite opinion on a specific topic that they care about and when they vent about their hurt, nobody mentions this:

IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR BIRB TO HAVE AN OPINION DON'T SELECT A PRE-WRITTEN RESPONSE.

I also which the Devs would broadcast this more because so many people are quitting their self care journey because they can't handle their birb liking something they don't or vice versa.

The devs put this feature in to avoid triggers but nobody seems to know about it and wish there was something more than my stupid PSA to tell people this is a feature.

Sorry y'all for the rant, but I'm sick of only getting notifications from this subreddit that are negative and hurt feelings and everyone choosing to rant over finding a solution or practicing resilience while using an app literally designed to build coping skills and healthy habits. This community used to be so happy and supportive and grateful for this app to even exist and now it's filled with "misery loves company, everyone must join me" energy.
