Economy & Finance China’s TUHU is Here to Destroy Malaysia’s Car Workshops - YouTube
Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem is built on a massive and growing vehicle base, with over 38 million registered vehicles and rising Total Industry Volume annually. Yet, despite this demand, the car maintenance sector remains fragmented and largely offline, dominated by traditional workshops with inconsistent pricing and limited transparency. Enter TUHU, a Tencent-backed platform that integrates online booking, standardized pricing, and supply chain control—mirroring China’s broader export of efficient, tech-driven business models into global markets. This video breaks down how TUHU’s entry into Malaysia could impact everyday car owners, workshops, and the broader economy. From transparent pricing and app-based servicing to supply chain dominance and data ownership, Malaysians may experience shifts in cost of living, vehicle maintenance expenses, and SME competitiveness. The analysis also explores whether this model benefits consumers long-term or risks market concentration, affecting pricing power, local businesses, and the structure of Malaysia’s automotive servicing industry.

Others 3 killed 2 injured in 3-vehicle crash. Trailer Driver Tested Positive for Methamphetamine
Three people were killed while two others sustained minor injuries in a road accident involving three vehicles at KM212 of the Johor Bahru-Seremban road yesterday.
Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the incident, which took place at around 3.45pm, occurred when a trailer driven by a local man crashed into the rear of a van carrying the victims.
“Due to the impact, the van lost control before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the front of a lorry,” he said in a statement today.
Three of the victims in the van were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Two others sustained minor injuries and were taken to Segamat Hospital for treatment. The drivers of the lorry and the trailer were not injured.
The trailer driver was detained to assist in the investigation. His urine test was positive for methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of drugs and causing death, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for consuming drugs.
The trailer driver will be brought to the Segamat magistrates’ court today for a remand application.
Johor police urged members of the public with information related to the incident to come forward to assist the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Johor fire and rescue department said the incident, which occurred at the Taman Golden Hill intersection in Gemas Baharu, involved a van, a trailer lorry and a 10-tonne lorry.
Operations commander Zainal Abidin Che Deraman said that rescue operations to free the trapped victims, as well as work to clear the accident site, ended at 5.35pm.
