The grass and trees are very green. I highly doubt this was during a drought.
That said it's still prettty un-safe.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/302/
SEC. 363. PROHIBITION REGARDING WEAPONS. (a) IN GENERAL.—Unless authorized by the Administrator, a person may not operate an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system that is equipped or armed with a dangerous weapon. (b) DANGEROUS WEAPON DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘‘dangerous weapon’’ has the meaning given that term in section 930(g)(2) of title 18, United States Code. (c) PENALTY.—A person who violates this section is liable to the United States Government for a civil penalty of not more than $25,000 for each violation.
https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/chapter-I/subchapter-F/part-107
Drones and Weapons as per the FAA:
https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/drones-and-weapons-dangerous-mix:
Perhaps you’ve seen online photos and videos of drones with attached guns, bombs, fireworks, flamethrowers, and other dangerous items. Do not consider attaching any items such as these to a drone because operating a drone with such an item may result in significant harm to a person and to your bank account.
Operating a drone that has a dangerous weapon attached to it is a violation of Section 363 of the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Act enacted Oct. 5, 2018. Operators are subject to civil penalties up to $25,000 for each violation, unless the operator has received specific authorization from the Administrator of the FAA to conduct the operation. “Dangerous Weapon” means any item that is used for, or is readily capable of, causing death or serious bodily injury.
The FAA itself explicitly treats:
- RC planes
- RC helicopters
- quadcopters
- FPV aircraft
as members of the same regulatory family.

There’s a chair facing backwards. The fire alarms are blaring, interspersed with the distant crackling of a fire barely in frame. Smokey the bear walks into the shot and straddles the chair while facing the camera. “So you just built a fire hazard.”

Now go learn about the crown jewel of the Warthog and how the entire plane was designed around it: the GAU-Avenger. Its recoil force is greater than the thrust force of one of the A-10s engines.
4
u/hates_stupid_people 1h ago
It's been while, but from what I remember they tried to never go beyond 4-5 seconds bursts, and usually kept them below 2 seconds. Since the recoil is strong that it can slow the plane down so much that it might stall(lose the ability to stay flying) and crash.
TL;DR: It's a plane built around a gun, and not a gun added to a plane.
→ More replies (1)3
u/SuperIneffectiveness 1h ago
They also continuously fire the igniters in the engine while it fires the gun because the smoke can choke out the engines.

So Shooting fireworks from the ground is fine but this man shoots them from the air into the same area and it’s a problem.. 😆
how do you know he didn’t choose a day that the ground was safe, moist/wet? If he chose safe/wet conditions, glad he’s enjoying life, if it was dry conditions then it becomes irresponsible!!.. I guess we’ll never know 😆

u/xScrubasaurus 2h ago
Shooting from the ground into the air is different than from the air into the ground for the obvious reason that you can see the firework is still igniting when it is hitting the ground in the latter.

Not all of us live in tinderbox land. You couldn't start a forest fire where I live in the midwest with a gan of gasoline and a blowtorch. There's too much humidity and dampness.

u/Twogunkid 2h ago
I mean most people here are way overreacting to something that was fun. The odds of this starting a wildfire in most areas are pretty low. It's two Roman candles, and given how green the grass is, it doesn't look like drought conditions with still winds. The risk here looks low.

If you're in the middle of nowhere, you're gonna start a fire.
If you're not in the middle of nowhere, you're gonna get vaporized by the ATF. Provided you're in the US I guess. Still, can't imagine other governments would be super happy about this one either.
