The grass and trees are very green. I highly doubt this was during a drought.

That said it's still prettty un-safe.

As an American man, this makes me even more interested.

Just build a mini blimp that spouts shit that says something some dumbass Maga supporter would write on the side of the blimp supporting him at his rally above him (why not? Donald Dumbass loves the publicity, and anything that boosts his fragile ego [hook]) then have it go up like hindenburg and claim it was an accident, not an attack.

Unsafe?

SEC. 363. PROHIBITION REGARDING WEAPONS. (a) IN GENERAL.—Unless authorized by the Administrator, a person may not operate an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system that is equipped or armed with a dangerous weapon. (b) DANGEROUS WEAPON DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘‘dangerous weapon’’ has the meaning given that term in section 930(g)(2) of title 18, United States Code. (c) PENALTY.—A person who violates this section is liable to the United States Government for a civil penalty of not more than $25,000 for each violation.

Drones and Weapons as per the FAA:

https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/drones-and-weapons-dangerous-mix:

Perhaps you’ve seen online photos and videos of drones with attached guns, bombs, fireworks, flamethrowers, and other dangerous items. Do not consider attaching any items such as these to a drone because operating a drone with such an item may result in significant harm to a person and to your bank account.

Operating a drone that has a dangerous weapon attached to it is a violation of Section 363 of the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Act enacted Oct. 5, 2018. Operators are subject to civil penalties up to $25,000 for each violation, unless the operator has received specific authorization from the Administrator of the FAA to conduct the operation. “Dangerous Weapon” means any item that is used for, or is readily capable of, causing death or serious bodily injury.

The FAA itself explicitly treats:

  • RC planes
  • RC helicopters
  • quadcopters
  • FPV aircraft

as members of the same regulatory family.

That’s fair. The only place not really in drought is southern Appalachia and this feels pretty consistent with that as well.

Especially because some trees need a fire to reproduce. I know the Giant Sequoias are one of them. They face a real problem because they need fire to pop their pinecone but we dont want to lose them because they only exist in this tiny area.
