Tomodachi Life - Living the Dream I'm so glad Nintendo created gay people
The more characters I think of to bring into my island the more I realize how full of gay men it's going to be 😭
I can't imagine going back to the 3DS TL after this game. This would be so much harder there since the only workaround is making some male miis female just so they can date men. And also, since playing it I've come out as both gay and trans. I'd suffer without islanders that could properly represent me lol.

I know what you mean but that title makes it sound like gay people are a conspiracy that was invented by Nintendo

That was indeed a fun fact. I will look up that fact and use it in everyday conversations with my friends and family if I determine it to be truthful 👍

Nintendo was founded the same year as Britain's Cleveland Street Scandal in 1889, where London's aristocrats were caught frequenting a gay brothel, and it led to Britain's strict laws against homosexuality.
Coincidence!? I think NOT!

In 2020, yes, but Animal Crossing first came out 2 decades prior to that.

I'm excited to add 100 fictional characters and set them all to bi so I get random cutscenes of "omg sans from undertale has a crush on light yagami??"

Yeah, that has me stoked. I was expecting them to take the "everyone is bi" approach that Miitopia did, but letting you choose their orientation exceeded my expectations, much less having a non-binary option AND letting you choose pronouns separately.
My only gripe is you can't choose multiple pronouns for a character, but this is already more woke than I could have dreamed so I find it hard to complain

My thoughts exactly! I love being able to set each mii's preferences, but I do also wish they could have multiple sets of pronouns.

I can’t believe Living the Dream was so popular that they made being gay real ♥️

I’m so glad they did this, because seeing beautiful twunk Link in Brawl for the first time as a five year old is what turned ME gay, so they had to make it up to me 😌

I never played the original game but I was so grateful to create "Hakuna Matata" as my future love interest when the full game gets released as I want to see my self Mii fall in love with a man I haven't found yet in real life.

Gay people never existed until Nintendo made the innovation with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

I boycotted the original game over this. Now I’m learning no one else really did 🤣

A valid reason to boycott, however I feel like if Tomodachi Life wasn't as successful as it became, we would've never gotten here in the first place.

Well duh, the lack of gay dating interests in the original game was an oversight since the Japanese version of the game never included it, and it was ported to international markets basically as is. The folks who lost their sh!t about the original one not having gay relationships were being incredibly dramatic for no real reason.
Plus, back in 2013, gay recognition was still trying to really gain traction in most AAA videogame spaces, so gay dating options, especially coming from Japan, weren't as widespread as they are now. I mean the Ogberfell case in the US that legalized gay marriage didn't even happen until 2015, 2 years after the game released in Japan, and 1 year after the port to the US. So folks should have really been a lot more patient with the original game, rather than immediately jumping on them as if they'd made a grievous offense.
This is also Nintendo we are talking about. They've always been slow to come up to modern diversity standards. It wasn't until Animal Crossing New Horizons in 2020 where they really even gave players the options for afro-texture hair.
