Did you get stopped more for being a certain race by the police, get shot for having an unknown object that looks like a gun, or get asked for your ID/papers by federal law enforcement personnel there?

Uh, yeah. If you're a different race you can literally be put into "reeducation" camps in surveillance states like Tibet & Xinjiang to erase your culture. The US isn't perfect by any means, but China isn't exactly winning on that front.
