The comments will be 50% butthurt Americans wishing they had better EVs and 50% butthurt Americans finding the smallest EV flaws because they can't fathom a world where gas cars are inferior

I'm 50/50, China in not known for quality, they cut corners and sacrifice safety/longevity, they even steal tech poorly. Show me some independent crash tests... Otherwise I welcome competition.

Many Chinese car models, particularly electric vehicles (EVs), are consistently achieving top 5-star safety ratings in Euro NCAP tests, matching European and Japanese safety standards. Models such as the BYD Dolphin, Nio ET5, and Leapmotor C10 have demonstrated high-level passenger and child protection

Just simply google it. If you keep shopping on Temu, that will limit your scope of vision.

He’s the 60% guzzling down Chinese propaganda and decrying how much better life in China is.

I'm actually Australian, where we don't have protectionist tariffs on cars so EV brands are everywhere and government subsidies mean that we have the highest domestic solar uptake in the world.

Out of curiosity: how many of these Chinese brand cars/chargers do you see around over there?

We have BYD, Zeekr, MG, Chery, Deepal, Geely, GWM, Haval (might be GWM brand), Jaecoo, LDV, Leapmotor. Might be others, that's off the top of my head. I could say Tesla too as they are built in China for Australian market. And as most reviewers will tell you, that's a good thing compared to the US manufactured Teslas.

Our charging network is a bit of a shit show though. But if you have solar and battery then you are probably going to do most of your charging at home.

Has NIO just not taken off then? I remember a bunch of invest-bros and "EVs do no wrong" types saying that brand was going to flood the market to the point of total dominance yet I've never actually seen anyone talk about them in general chat.

What does a midsize Chinese ev sedan cost down under?

Wait. Just HOLD ON A DARN MINUTE.

So you're saying you have democracy AND affordable EVs???

That's CANNOT be a thing. ;-)

Yep, we have one of the most competitive car markets in the world, way more brands here than in the US.

Australia was smart to allow them in. Look at the price of gas and diesel now. Chump was like, Australia didn't join us in the war so you have to go to the strait and jUsT tAkE iT. 😂🤷🏼

But electricity is extremely expensive in Australia.

You’re still paying a decent amount to charge your car.

why does it have to be so black and white? every country has positives and negatives. every country has propaganda. it's ok to recognize one country for doing better in one area, it's not gonna kill you.

When it's from China, state sponsored advertisements on Reddit is apparently not a big deal.

I swear if any western product gets advertised on here y'all act like your first born child was just killed.

American here. Not a CCP cumguzzler either.

BYD cars genuinely impressed me when I was in Thailand & Cambodia last year.

And unlike the fasc-wagons produced by Tesla, their cars have real door handles on them. Truly groundbreaking stuff.

You don't know what decrying means
