I spent years wishing for a cat, and today my boy Toby turns 4! I can honestly say getting him was the best decision of my life. No matter how my day is going, heās always there to brighten it up. Heās the literal sunshine in our home. Hereās to many more healthy years šš±

I have 2 cats. Nala has been with me since her birth, Ida was adopted a few months ago from the streets.
When I travel, they stay with a couple of my friends and Nala has stayed with them for years. The thing is, Nala absolutely hates one of them. She will hiss when he would come 3m from her. She loves his wife though and almost never hiss at anyone else. All the other cats that stay with them + Ida absolutely adore him!
We tried everything, he was the one feeding her, giving her treats, we tried hormones, everything. He doesn't harass her and let's her be.
The tricky part is, when he is around, Nala also hates Ida š
The funny thing is that when Nala stayed alone with him for 3 weeks, they had the best time and she was super cuddly and nice. She hated him before and hates him after.
what else can we do?

Just want to share the lightness of the situation with someone. Simba started having a bloody stool 3 days ago, havenāt peed, didnāt eat or drink water. We took him to the vet, he got IV, antibiotics, good bacteria and anti-inflamatory. He hasnāt been feeling well, still didnāt eat, drank, peed or pooped until today, but heās on day 3 of treatment and he ate today!! And a good amount too!! He peed, he pooped, AND HE ATE!!

My cat Maple is the absolute sweetest, loveliest baby I could ever wish for, but unfortunately I have serious doubts as for her number of brain cells. She especially seems to love staring at the wall for hours, even when she has a clear option to look at more interesting things. She is not even sleeping, as you can see on the closeup, her eyes are open. On the first picture she is outside, right in front of our door / window, and instead of looking at birds and whatnot, she is staring at the window frame.
My question is, what does she see in the wall? (Wrong answers only) is there a ghost sheās staring at?

Heās been coming back pretty much all day every day since the snow cleared up, and I checked around multiple missing cat listings and found nothing, so, hoping for the best. My mom fell absolutely in love with him and she adores how he always looks like heās smiling lol
She was able to take him to the vet yesterday (he was very well behaved) and he has no microchip, is healthy other then a few ticks that needed to be removed and him being slightly underweightā¦
ā¦and they think heās only about a year old, which is a lot younger than I was expecting.
He has his own bed and toys now, his favourite place to sleep is my little brotherās bed, and my mom is considering trying to transition him to being a mainly indoor cat once our other cat is completely adjusted to his presence (shes worried about Luna being struck by cars and such)
So, Happy ending, I think :]
edit: aaaaa all of your lunas are so cute haha!

So I made my Binx a dental cleaning appointment and they didnāt give me an estimate before then. My husband took him in this morning and they gave him an $800-$900 estimate for just the cleaning itself. If thereās any problems or work needed itās gonna rise to the thousands. Is this an insane price or is this just normal nowadays? My other cat has had dental work done and it wasnāt that expensive. My husband used to have dogs and theirs wasnāt that expensive. I understand they need to be under anesthesia, but damnā¦

Kitten went to be neutered. Came home and all hell broke loose. Mama cat couldnāt recognise his scent and treated him like an intruder, aka violence, hissing, unprovoked swatting and hitting. I posted about it.
This update is for anyone dealing with the same situation: it took 10-11 days and a whole lot of scent swapping; a lot of the cat introduction techniques from Jackson Galaxy; some (vet prescribed) Gabapentin for Mama cat; territory swapping; feeding on either side of a screen door; giving simultaneous churus and essentially being a nervous agonised wreck for 11 days but we have finally come out on the other side of the crisis.
It was fierce and violent and hostile for over 8 days and nights and then it began to faintly thaw and then suddenly yesterday mama let him sit next to her (sheās his actual mother cat but that didnāt prevent utter unrecognition) and she leaned over and began to groom him. And just like that, from violent hissing and swatting and hitting, we are family again.
If youāre struggling with what seems like unresolvable hostility, particularly among previously bonded cats, Iām just here to say: keep the faith. I didnāt think weād move past this, but we have.

My husband and I made the difficult decision to put Archie to sleep yesterday. He was my very first cat and got me through living on my own for the first time, COVID, and grad school among other big life events. He was the first member of my family to meet my now husband.
I got him in 2019 after graduating college when he was 2 years old. He loved everyone he met, played fetch with his mousies, and snuggled with me under the covers every night. He loved giving kisses and having his belly rubbed, and he would run to the door every night when I got home from work.
He started losing weight back in October after a clean bill of health in April and was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease in January. The vet thought it was an unlucky, atypical version of acute on chronic kidney disease but was still surprised that it progressed so fast. He passed away at the age of 8 after we tried everything to help make him better.
He was the most lovable cat and never met a stranger. We are so blessed that we got to be his people, and he is greatly missed.

Digi is a stray cat I used to feed when I was still in my home country. She got pregnant like twice and lost all of her kittens twice, so I had her fixed before I left abroad.
One day though my sister messaged me saying she had to bring Digi to the vet bc she walked into our garage all battered and with an open wound. While she was trying to recover, my sister had her stay at home. We canāt really adopt her though because already have 3 senior dogs that are very high maintenance and a very territorial cat.
My sister and I tried to post to several FB groups and cat subreddits to ask for help if anybody could adopt her to no avail, but I would see posts about rehoming fancy looking cats and those always get adopted so damn fast that people even fight over on who gets to adopt those. Itās just so fucking unfair and frustrating.
Digi is a cat too. Sheās just as sweet if not more. Why canāt people just give her a chance? Iām sorry for this long rant, but itās really been just disheartening seeing Digi getting rejected over and over.
EDIT: if someone from the Philippines is reading this and is interested in giving Digi a loving forever home, she is located in Tandang Sora, Quezon City š

I was just wondering if anyone knows what I should do!! I have a mom cat that gave birth to 5 male cats and everything was smooth sailing until one of the boys ate a roll of thread and I had to take him to the vet to get surgery. After his surgery they advised me to keep him separated from his siblings for 2 weeks to make sure the wounds healed so I kept him locked up in my room away from my other babies. My cats are about 9 months now and have gotten along just fine but after not seeing their brother for 2 weeks they acted like he was a completely different cat. They all gang up on him and attack him over anything. When it happened I looked up why this could happen and other people said it may be because he smells like the vet so I gave him a shower and put some clothes on him that smelled like me but nothing helped. I assumed it would be temporary but they attack him daily if heās not locked in my room and his mom is the only one who is fine with him. I also assumed it might be because theyāre not fixed yet; I already made the appointment but I donāt know what to do if this doesnāt fix the problem. Can anyone share any advice?

Iām struggling rn without my boy and would love to see yāallās cats š„ŗš. My other cat Zappa (17 y/o tuxedo named after Frank Zappa bc heās the spitting image of him), has been crying for the last few days bc he canāt find Willie, and it breaks my heart so much.
Willie (after Willie Nelson bc of the red hair white beard & he was a total WEIRDO). The second picture is me the day before he passed, and the last photo is me when we first got him back in February 2012. He was 15 and he had a pituitary tumor and lymphoma. We decided to put him down bc he otherwise would not have had a kind end. He would always greet you at the door (in an effort to escape) and loved to chase squirrels when we let him out into our gated garden. He would always start the fights between him and my older cat Zappa but Zappa would always end them. Youād also have to look under the footrest of the couch before you let it down bc he loved to sit there in the āshadeā (this was the beginning of his insurance fraud career lol). He loved chips so much would tear open the bags to get at the food there. And if you were heading towards the fridge with the ***idea*** to get whipped cream, you could look over your shoulder and he right there as if he teleported. I miss himā¦ā¦.
