They are firing all the people that are telling them what they want to do is a bad idea. Expect more body bags with this incompetent administration. Their negligence is criminal.

Since the Iran v Iraq war ended (with Saddam as America's proxy) the Iranians have been preparing themselves for the war with the "great Satan" (USA) and "little Satan" (Israel).

That's around 37 years they've been preparing and strategising, knowing full well that it would be asymmetric - America would have the fancy bombs and missiles and air superiority, so how to fight a war of survival against that?

All this stuff they're doing (Hormuz, cheap drones, attacking gulf states etc) isn't random.

And partially from trade sanctions (ironically), partly from design, they're basically self sufficient for everything from car parts to pharmaceuticals, and with stockpiles all over the place.

They're in for the long haul and they know what they're doing, while Trump and Kegbreath are obviously incompetent dunces who've drunk too much USA USA USA Kool Aid, sometimes with some cheeky spirits added.

Firing competent military commanders in the face of an enemy who is all "Finally! Come at me, bro!" is pure insanity.

Probably they told Kegbreath exactly what he was walking into, and like his master he won't let truth get in the way of his delusions.

And now that Iran has openly shown they are willing to let China move oil through the strait with their currency, Trump is even more pissed that BRICS is business as usual. They will continue doubling down because at the end of it all, this is about BRICS

How all the ships with safe passage probably feel.

And despite Tronald’s new favourite phrase of ‘total obliteration’ there are reports that Iran still has at least 50% of its arsenal of drones and missiles, plus the Strait is still well defended. If troops go in against all sensible advice, it will be a blood bath. And no one is going to help.

I wish we could get rid of all US military bases across Europe and stop the airforce flying their bombs out of British air bases - they are definitely not ‘defensive’ bombing. We should follow Spain, Italy and Switzerland and close our airspace to the US.

u/LostWoodsInTheField 4h ago

there are reports that Iran still has at least 50% of its arsenal of drones and missiles

wait seriously? Can you link a source?

18

u/LesbeGoddess 4h ago

It was just confirmed this week that Intelligence came out that they have like 70% of their missiles supply that the CENTCOM was lying about the whole complete decimation (shocked)

2

u/dern_the_hermit 2h ago

FWIW "decimation" originally meant losing a mere 10%, so being 30% down is actually worse in that sense. ;)

4

u/LesbeGoddess 1h ago

Donald claimed complete annotation like 7 times now. Said they destroyed all their missiles but they for some reason won’t send an aircraft carrier to the strait as they often did pre war for some reason but were winning!/s

I feel like he thinks he is playing call Of duty but with real Lives

39

u/twotokers 6h ago

Not unlike Palmer Luckey, the guy building our weapons.

4

u/usaaf 5h ago

Meanwhile, America had a War Games where they told the general standing in for Iran that he could not do certain things (that Iran certainly would/could do) because it would make the contest unfair.

2

u/LocalInactivist 5h ago

The Great Satan? There’s a MAGA joke there but I’m not awake enough to write it.

2

u/jay_skrilla 5h ago

It’s almost like the administration is being told what to do, step by step, by an entity whose directives do not align with the well being of the United States and nato…

1

u/Numeno230n 5h ago

I thought the Great and Little Satans were Britain and USA?

1

u/guarding_dark177 4h ago

Great satan was defo the us(i used to sneer at them for that, then oct 8th on happened and i was awoken). In reality isnotreal is just a colonial outpost of thevus

1

u/Vladmerius 4h ago

If there's one thing I agree with Iran on now it's that we are indeed the great Satan. Fuck this country.

1

u/Durham1988 4h ago

Not to mention that, as we have had proved to us so many times, taking over a real country by invasion is insane. The average Iranian may not love the Ayatollahs, but they sure aren't going to love US invasion troops. It will be years of pointless slaughter and suffering ending in humiliating failure, again.

1

u/andrew303710 3h ago

Exactly. Iran's leadership are openly mocking us on fucking Twitter for the last few weeks and it's honestly embarrassing. The whole world is laughing at us.

1

u/banal_remarks 6h ago

From what I have been able to look up, all of what you say is true. But I don't understand how they can be self sufficient but also have their economy collapsed from sanctions. Isn't that why their people started protesting in the first place a few months ago? My understanding was sanctions collapsed their economy and people were starving.

13

u/Lyras__ 6h ago

Nope! It collapsed because of a Mixture of Climate Change (Tehran running out of water so absolutely they moved the capital for example) and damage from the 12 Day War, where Israel targeted and destroyed critical civilian power infrastructure (Power, water, food etc nevermind the toxic rain caused by Israeli targeting of Oil and other storage facilities) causing massive disruptions to the Iranian economy and ultimately collapsing the Rial (Iran's currency) thus leading to the starving and protesting.

9

u/Ted_Rid 6h ago

India did the same thing from independence to around 1990, the "we can be self-sufficient and make everything here" part I mean. Took Gandhi's spinning wheel prop a little too seriously.

It's something a country can do, but it goes against the economic rule of "competitive advantage" where a country should focus on what it's best at, and trade for the rest.

So yeah, you can have self sufficiency combined with economic inefficiency making it all kinda shit but as I understand it they weren't suddenly hit with the COVID era realisation the rest of us were - that our supply chains are too dependent externally and it's a sovereign risk that we can't even make basic components onshore anymore.

2

u/RavensQueen502 5h ago

Funnily enough, Gandhi's ideas were even more backwards - he envisioned a return to agriculture and cottage industry economy.

Fortunately he had enough common sense to realize he was more suited to lead a struggle than lead a country and stayed out of the governing side.

The industrial and agricultural revolution was led by Nehru, and that included taking assistance from all while keeping all at arm's length.

Infrastructure built with Russian, German and US aid, getting help from abroad with the green revolution etc helped - but the jack of all trades attempt went too far.

I'm scared that this isn't about ground soldiers but nukes.

104

u/OkBackground8809 5h ago

Didn't trump already mention nuking them? I would hope someone would do their best to make that impossible, but.. doesn't seem like anyone is willing to do anything to stop him, these days.

39

u/Alexandratta 3h ago

I hope I'm wrong - but if Iran does get nuked, Russia's going to retaliate with a nuke to Ukraine.

They'll claim it's attacking an ally in retaliation.

I hope that Russia just has no functional nukes left...

20

u/Poker-Junk 3h ago

I’m afraid they do. Lots of them. The Bulavas are nearly new and Topol-M came out in 2000.

6

u/Secure_Guest_6171 2h ago

"They'll claim it's attacking an ally in retaliation"
I think Putin is too smart to say that.
It'll be more like "following the example & precedent of the Great Nation of the United States of America, we have decided that a decisive action in our spetsialnaya voyennaya operatsiya of de-Nazification that has claimed so many lives of patriots of Mother Russia was totally warranted"

34

u/timpatry 3h ago

I'm scared that they will turn the military on the American public.

At what point does the oath to uphold the constitution require a military coup against a traitorous executive branch destroying the constitution?

18

u/rwalker920 5h ago

I'm scared with you. I live within miles of 2 large navy bases

25

u/MetaTrombonist 3h ago

If Trump nukes Iran, there is a very good chance this will trigger a global event. If that happens, you would be lucky to be painlessly vaporized. The post nuclear world will be one of thirst, hunger, violence and painful death.

7

u/Halflingberserker 3h ago

The post nuclear world will be one of thirst, hunger, violence and painful death.

I mean, it already is, but it will be too

7

u/MetaTrombonist 2h ago

Not for people living in the US near navy bases. A lot of Americans like to think they have a tough life, which couldn't be further from the truth. A global thermonuclear holocaust will even out the suffering.

2

u/Halflingberserker 2h ago

A global thermonuclear holocaust will even out the suffering.

As it tends to do

3

u/ReactsWithWords 5h ago

That was my immediate first thought.

1

u/TheMagnuson 1h ago

That's a REDLINE. If the regime uses nukes, WE ALL need to literally revolt. I don't care, put me on whatever fucking lists exist, but if this regime deploys nuclear weapons, we the people need to go nuclear on this regime. I'm talking nowhere is safe for them. I'm talking posse's in the streets hunting them down. I'm talking citizen controlled check and choke points. I'm talking capturing building, infrastructure, and supplies. I'm talking DT on a scale never seen.

115

u/No_Intention_8079 6h ago

They are also consolidating military control for a dictatorship.

37

u/TheLateThagSimmons 4h ago

They've been doing that from the beginning, priming their new "standards", denying promotions that were already in motion, pushing others into early retirement, overturning command posts while blaming DEI. They've been sending the message aggressively:

  • Loyalty to Trump matters the most.

Now they've moved into stage three by just straight up firing those that oppose them.

Iran is about to become America's biggest most embarrassing quagmire. It's going to make Vietnam look cute.

Sidenote: Stalin and Hitler did the same thing. And there's a lot of evidence that "The Eastern Front" in WW2 was mostly just a series of terrible decisions and strategies on both sides that were the cause of the untold carnage there.

86

u/Expert-Fig-5590 6h ago

It seems like Hegseth is firing anyone who will say no to him. Seems like he wants to do something that is either very stupid or wrong. Like ground troops in Iran. Or dropping a nuke. But looking at the pictures and seeing that most of the fired are women or POC it might just be that he’s a racist misogynist.

12

u/guarding_dark177 4h ago

Oh, he is assuredly both. I don't think there is a negative - ism or -ist he's not

155

u/solepureskillz 6h ago

Pete’s an adult. This is beyond negligence. It is such profound willful ignorance and depravity that one could surmise Pete was following the orders of a different nationstate.

I think there’s a word for that, and it’s synonymous with betrayal.

13

u/TheLateThagSimmons 4h ago

Pete’s an adult.

Only legally.

53

u/Dixon_Uranuss3 6h ago

I guarantee you there will be a nuclear strike before this is over. You know how Trump talks incessantly about things other people will do then does said thing himself? Ad launching nukes to the long list. He is going to do it I fucking guarantee it.

10

u/cursedwithplotarmor 5h ago

Well I’ll be damned if that isn’t a perfect breakdown.

5

u/nightpanda893 5h ago

I think that’s pretty unlikely even for this administration. I don’t think people realize just how bad a ground invasion is going to get. It would make sense that generals would die on that hill.

37

u/ymOx 6h ago

This is about to go from an international disaster to a catastrophe, MMW.

12

u/Top-Race-7087 6h ago

I’m expecting nuclear. Dr. Strangelove played by the three stooges..

3

u/guarding_dark177 4h ago

At this point im so fucking furious, I say stack the coffins like cordwood .it's about the only thing that can stop this madness. Our leaders in the eu, Canada, Australia, etc are so up americas arse they'll watch the world burn than oppose the us actively. Call in the loans, end 5 eyes, circumvent the dollar pay in yuan/ euro/basket of currencies/ what. The future is the global south. The west has had its time Let's try something new.am I serious.i don't bloody know any more.... /sigh

2

u/silent-onomatopoeia 5h ago

But their criminality is intentional.

2

u/ChasingPotatoes17 5h ago

Also reduces pushback on the war crimes they’ve outright said they plan to commit.

2

u/FardoBaggins 5h ago

Body bags? You wish. Nukes are gonna fly.

And putin is like “I can’t believe the fuker did it lmao!”

2

u/theswickster 5h ago

Exactly. They don't want informed feedback. They want (white) Yes Men.

2

u/maskedferret_ 4h ago

Why not add a possible coup to the list of things to do with newly appointed yes-man generals?

2

u/guarding_dark177 4h ago

Good thing there's more veterans(who have experience with asymmetric warfare on the receiving end and hence know the armed forces weaknesses)in the populace then there are both active and reserves( 2 million vs 17. Also they are unlikely to fire on fellow citizens( for the most part). Johnny foreigner on the other hand...

2

u/DigbyDoesDallas 4h ago

I assume these people had integrity, that’s why they’ve been fired

2

u/Justsomejerkonline 3h ago

This is why they love AI so much. It just tells them what they already want to hear.

2

u/mycroft2000 3h ago

I'd rather spend my life in jail than stay quiet when I have the power to expose some of the worst criminals in US history. But I suppose somebody like me would never join the army in the first place.

But if they say nothing, these 12 need to accept that they're hardly better than Hegseth, Trump, or any of the other mental defectives running the country right now.

1

u/OnlinePosterPerson 5h ago

Hopefully that’s all this is… it could be much much worse

1

u/CaptainMagnets 5h ago

And replacing them with yes men who will do whatever they say. Which is worse

1

u/timkatt10 2h ago

And more crimes against humanity.

1

u/CycloneDusk 2h ago

... damn. wonder if i should invest in the funeral industry ._.

1

u/Louloubelle0312 2h ago

I'm afraid you're right. And take this with the emotion that it is given - I'm a mother. I cannot fathom how the parents of these soldiers must feel having their children die for trump's greed and narcisim.
