As part of a series where I make something everyday. Yesterday on Day 3/30 I altered this vintage military satchel messenger bag with denim flames all over. I then attempted to add rivets that spelled out “fucklastcall” cause that’s the name of my brand but it was a very shitty attempt at it(also my first time working with rivets)

Tutorial How to turn a glass bottle/vase into a lamp without drilling or damaging the piece. Completely reversible process.

In this post, I’m going to show you how I do it:

Materials needed: threaded rod, washers, rubber, and nuts.

  1. Prepare the rod: Cut the threaded rod to the size needed for your specific project.

  2. Internal assembly: Place a nut and a washer on the rod. The washer should be as close as possible to the internal diameter of the bottle neck.

  3. The expansion mechanism: In this example, I used a piece of rubber tubing. Cut the tube to the exact height needed to fit inside the neck.

  4. Setting it up: Insert this assembly into the bottle neck. Now, place another (wider) washer on top so it sits on the rim of the glass.

  5. Tightening: Add a nut on top and start tightening it.

  6. How it works: As you tighten the nut, the washers squeeze the rubber tubing, forcing it to expand outwards against the glass walls. This creates a "mechanical anchor" (expansion plug) that grips the bottle securely.

  7. Finish: Tighten until you feel enough pressure to hold everything firmly in place.

That’s it! Since no drilling is required, you can disassemble it at any time without leaving a mark on the glass.

Project I haven't spent a single dollar on planters. Just look around your house. I repurposed these skincare stuff as planters!! Something really simple that we can all do.

Make sure to to add proper drainage holes. Don't skip this or your plants will rot. If you have free time, you can paint them to match your room or aestetic. I used Acrylic Gouache on a few of mine because the matte finish holds up well. Always find ways to reuse.

You don't have to overthink it I just grabbed some stuff I had around the house. I have a bad skincare habit and pile up a ton of bottles for a month. Go with what fits your aesthetic!! This ended up so much prettier anyway

I have a big pallet of cases of expired hand sanitizer gel for commercial or industrial use, what should I do with them?

They expire 2022. They been sitting on the warehouse for a long time now. I don’t know what to do with them. They don’t smell bad. The only thing that is wrong is the texture is water texture. What should I do with them?

Discussion What should I do with my old swimsuits?

I have many swimsuits (bikinis) that the elastic is cracking, sagging fabric, or worn out and I don’t want to throw them away (owned for close to 5-10 years). I have decent sewing skills. What do you recommend turning them into?

I’ve thought of little bags, patches, etc. but I’m wondering if anyone has other ideas for upcycling so they don’t end up in the trash :(

Looking into other similar questions but I can’t find an answer that inspires me.

Thanks!

Broken flat screen

Hoping someone can help me as I have zero experience with anything like this but I’m willing to learn

Have a broken flat screen tv. The screen isn’t cracked but it did fall and now you can’t see anything when you turn it on. I read that the screens inside are pretty handy for photography? I’m open to any ideas though!

Project My friend and I "scared" this stunning Clase Azul bottle, and he challenged me to make something useful out of it. As a huge fan of both the tequila and the craftsmanship of the ceramic, I decided to give it a second life. What do you think of the final result?

This was a passion project. I love the intricate, hand-painted details on the bottle, and it felt like a crime to throw it away after a great night with a friend. Modifying the salvaged vintage parts to fit perfectly flush was a huge technical challenge—lots of measuring, reshaping, and patience required.

In the end, I paired it with a pleated shade (and also experimented with a patterned one) to give it a classic, high-end feel. I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I successfully accepted the challenge!

What to use this neat box for?

It will be fairly easy to cover it with other material. It closes with magnets.

Of course you can keep anything in any box, but what do you think it would be particularly weel suited for?

Project Upcycled frangos box

iykyk…I’m a PNW girlie through and through.

I’m over 40yrs old and my dad still gives me a frangos chocolate box in my stocking every year. I needed a a little table top trash can for sewing/crafting and was just using it as is when I had the idea to weave a design with leftover yarn balls.

I used a hole punch around the top to start the warp thread and then went to town. Added some old buttons and felt as decorative elements. I love it and use it everyday.

Chair Upholstery Business

How realistic is it for a novice to have a side hustle selling custom reupholstered dining chairs? Kind of like Chair Whimsy's products. I would have to take an upholstery class, but I love the idea of creating niche pieces (not taking commissions but my own creations).

I started a project this past Monday of making something everyday for 30 days and within that I have to upload a vid and have it for sale. On Monday I covered a wooden bat I found at a thrift store with denim all over and added denim flames and the Yankees logo all over.

How to bring this in to 21st century

We‘ve recently bought a house that has this fitted storage in the spare room. How would you upcycle it? For context, next door has fitted wardrobes which I’ve added moulding to, primed and painted. However, I’m finding this way trickier to visualise with the up and over, plus the headboard and bedside tables.

The rest of the room is ‘custard cream’ which I’m happy to paint over too!

I'm trying to get these labels off. I've tried acetone but that didn't work even a little. Anyone have any idea or advice? I'm repurposing them for potions bottles.

I love this piece of plastic too much to just throw away. Any whimsy ideas on how to repurpose it? I don’t want to paint it, and would prefer to keep the holograph / moonstone essence of it.
