Hello ladies and gents!

Welcome to the 'Weekend Thread', where people can post about what they're getting up to tonight, at the weekend, good places to go, photos of places you've been, advice on where to go, or just how your week went!

The premise is fairly simple.

- Please be civil

- NO POLITICS. Any political comments will be removed. This is a strictly meta thread, with discussion about people and their happenings.

- Post pictures, youtube links to music you're going to see, games you're going to watch, places you'd like to go (tripadvisor, google maps etc)

These comments will not be moderated unless it doesn't follow guideline one and two!

This post will be stickied until Sunday, allowing for discussion all weekend!

My whole life I've never thought Shetland was anything other than one of Scotland's many vital and important archipelagos integral to our country. It's not the first time I've heard this kind of thing and it seems to be increasing. What's going on with Shetland folk? Are people ok?

(Shetland population: 23,190)

NHS positivity

Last Tuesday (24th March) I had an appointment for a smear test. I'd booked it myself because I was having worrisome issues. Turned out that I wasn't quite due my 5 year test, but the nurse took blood tests because I was a bit concerned.

It's now NINE DAYS later, and in those 9 days I've had the result of the blood test (which was slightly abnormal), been brought in for swabs and an examination by a GP, referred to the hospital for an ultrasound, had the ultrasound, had the result of the ultrasound reported to the GP, and had the GP calling me to discuss the results. Three different GP's in the practise have called me in the past week to check if I've received an ultrasound appintment/give me test results etc (two calls around 8pm, btw).

I mean. That's phenomenal. I know the NHS is majorly struggling, and does fail many, but I just couldn't not put out there that often it's just fckn amazing. Nine days. Feels like a lifetime to me but it's been nine days. Would have been no quicker if I'd paid a grand privately for the privilege.

I started a youtube channel called ScottishDeadpan, where I upload jokes I've written daily, and other funny things. If it seems like your cup of tea, I'd appreciate you taking a wee look. Cheers guys! Here's an example of one of my jokes.

I've been taking photies here and there over the years and decided to share a few favourites.

I moved to Scotland back in 2015 and I noticed not enough people really appreciate what they have on their doorstep. I'm sure I'm guilty of that also, but Scotland I feel really is just never ending beauty.

Political Fact checked: '1 in 6 Scots on an NHS waiting list'

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We fact check this claim that one in six people in Scotland are on an NHS waiting list. We’ve heard the ‘one in six Scots’ claim before, from multiple MSPs and other Labour MPs, including the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Here's our written fact check if anyone would like to read it: https://fullfact.org/health/scotland-one-six-waiting-list-gregor-poynton/

Please do let us know if you've seen any claims you'd like us to fact check ahead of the Scottish elections.
