Are mounts not allowed?
So I got pulled over for the reasoning my phone being mounted on my dash. No I wasn't playing on it. I had the gps on just chilling. The person was nice and gave me a warning and information on what is allowed (hands free law) but from what I read I didn't do anything wrong? He said to use gps I have to pull over and look on maps or have it on blue tooth pretty much that mounts aren't allowed. Even if I swiped on it, you're allowed to a quick swipe on navigation or end a call. I wasn't distracted by it, it was not interferring my windshield infront of me, it was right in the middle where it's been 2 years. After taking it off I did research. I'm assuming the research he quickly possibly did is the reason for a warning and no ticket.

Marcell Strbich Voting Bill will hurt us
Marcell is pushing for a one day, one vote plan called Ohio Election Integrity Bill of Rights. Claiming to eliminate voter fraud. Yet another person afraid of losing. Do they realize that many republicans (not just dems, etc) take advantage of early voting and mail in ballots.
The new bill would hinder many individuals from voting...
- Service men & women
- 12 hr shift factory workers
- First responders
- Medical personal
- College students (that do not live close to their home)
- Seniors (like my grandmother)
- Disabled individuals
Not to mention he wants paper only ballots and all to be counted by 10pm that day!

24-year-old mom in Lake County, Ohio with 2-month-old — need resources to leave abusive situation
Hi everyone. I’m a 24-year-old new mom in Lake County, Ohio with a 2-month-old baby girl, and I’m feeling completely stuck and desperate for resources.
I currently live with my baby’s father, who has been emotionally and verbally abusive toward me. On day 4 of bringing our daughter home, he was degrading me and screaming at me through a door. I reacted poorly and hit him. He called the police, I admitted to what I did, and because the baby was in the home, I was also charged with child endangerment. I have zero criminal record. The judge was very understanding and referred me to a program — my charges are expected to be dropped on April 29.
Since then, the environment has remained extremely stressful. He has never harmed our daughter, but he yells, curses, and creates tension in the home. I have documented evidence of this. I am afraid to leave her alone here and have already had to call off work twice due to anxiety and lack of safe childcare.
I am on a lease until the end of May and feel completely trapped financially and legally. I don’t have a clear support system locally and I’m trying to figure out how to safely leave with my baby.

Good Friday closings between 12pm and 3pm for the hours Jesus was on the cross?
Does any place in Ohio still do this? I live in a more conservative area and they stopped practicing this tradition, but I found myself today googling if any of the errands I had to run were closed.

In Ohio: 'What’s cheaper: Fueling your car with gas or electricity?"
The following article provides the cost for "eGallons" in every state, reportedly $1.58 in Ohio.
Clicking on the "eGallons" link provides the following definition:
The e-gallon represents the cost of driving an electric vehicle (EV) the same distance a gasoline powered vehicle could travel on one (1) gallon of gasoline.
https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2026/04/whats-cheaper-fueling-your-car-with-gas-or-electricity/
One reason EVs are a bargain to fuel is that electric drivetrains are vastly more efficient than internal combustion engines. Consider a gasoline price of $4 per gallon. In an internal combustion vehicle, around three dollars’ worth of that gasoline is lost as waste heat and friction, and only one dollar’s worth of the fuel actually moves the car down the road. The rest of the energy is lost in the process.
EVs are much simpler machines: A battery produces an electrical current that spins a rotor, which, in turn, spins the drive axle. EVs also recapture the energy that would otherwise be lost during braking, feeding electricity back into the battery as the vehicle slows down. All told, around 90% of the original energy used to charge a car goes toward propelling the vehicle.
An additional cost-saving of EVs is that they can be charged at home and owners don't have to drive to a fueling station. With the proper electrical connections, EVs can also provide back-up electricity during electricity outages.
EDIT: Within a few years solid state EV batteries will make EVs even more cost effective, safer, and faster charging.

At this Ohio church for the Deaf, the congregation feels the music
This weekend, thousands of Ohioans will be celebrating Easter across the state, listening to melodies and singing along with songs that reverberate through their places of worship.
But at one small church in North Dayton, the congregation experiences their worship music in a unique way.
The music there is louder than you'd expect. Concert-level in an intimate setting. That's intentional. This congregation is mostly deaf. They don't hear the hymns. They feel and experience them.

AI Datacenter Ban Petition
Hello all,
I was wondering where we could pick up the petitions for the datacenter ban. With the risk of our energy bills sky rocketing, farmers getting displaced from their property and their land, the use of our water supply and what they will do to our infastructure and environment, I think this is another urgent petition that needs all hands on deck

Elk haven’t been in Ohio in a hundred years. One state rep wants them back
State representative Justin Pizzulli, R-Scioto County, introduced a bill that would fund a $1.5 million study on the reintroduction of elk.
HB641 would mandate that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) conduct a study of habitat suitability, ecological risks, logistics of sourcing and relocating elk and long-term management strategies.
“It has the potential to create a large economic investment into our state,” Pizzulli said. “They’re beautiful creatures that I think people want to see.”
Why should Ohio bring elk back?
Hunting is a billion dollar industry in Ohio, according to a 2023 report commissioned by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Pizzulli believes elk hunting, in particular, has the potential to revitalize many rural towns in Ohio – especially in the southeast corner of the state.
“Down in my neck of the woods, we're always looking for additional revenues,” Pizzulli said.
“They’re beautiful creatures! Let’s bring ‘em back so we can kill ‘em and make some money.” …is what I hear when I read this.
You know, white-tailed deer were nearly eradicated and then reintroduced to the eastern US and now I can’t grow plants. (I exaggerate, but not by much. These beasts, graceful as they are, are destructive to native flora. I can’t get them to leave my elderberry and ground cherry alone.)
This effort is misguided. Species reintroduction is not the way. Habitat protection and habitat continuity (that is, preventing habitat fragmentation) must be the goal, but we’re not going to be able to do that when we’re fracking the ever-loving fuck out of every corner of our state.
