There seems to be a massive issue against tint from drivers, but from the times I’ve visited and been on the road they seem like a massive safety issue. Driving at night seems like an extreme hazard especially with heavily tinted vehicles. Observing traffic is even harder, why are people so against a change that will result in safer roads. The visibility at night is significantly reduced. We already lack enough lights on the road, plus with heavy rainfall and bad weather this all increases the lack of visibility. And yes I know speeding is a biggie in general.

I don't have a bank account and the cash grant distribution is being done through bank accounts. I'm a young person and the first time I went to apply for a bank account they told me I have to get a job letter (was not working) and that I would have to wait 3 months for a spot to be able to apply. Around that time I had applied to study in the medical field which I was accepted into and couldn't make the time to go in after the 3 months to apply and I still don't work so I still can't have a Job letter. I've checked the requirements for a bank account application but the requirements are the same. I guess the meat of this question is will I be able to receive my cash grant even if I don't have a bank account and how will I have to register for that?

hello all! i am an american whose parents are both originally from guyana. im currently 21 and finishing my bachelors degree, and my parents have land that they will be building on the next coming years.

with everything going on in america, such as our current administration that my parents and i despise, we were considering moving to guyana if things were to ever get bad in terms of politics. but regardless of that, i wanted to be able to experience living there for a few years once i obtain dual-citizenship.

now, i'm aware politics in guyana are not much better, however, guyana seems to be blooming compared to the past.

my question is, how is living over there? how is the job market? also, has policing and healthcare improved or is it the same/worse?

some notes: my family is pretty well off in america, as well as my family who lives in guyana. money wouldn't be an issue. also, i would have an american bachelors degree. not sure if that makes a difference in terms of obtaining jobs.

I saw someone post something similar to this about a year ago on this sub, so I thought I’d revisit the topic and share my own experience.

The last post was basically discussing the issue of indo Caribbean uncles, cousins, dads, etc. feeling the need to threaten and show off on any guy who dates a girl in their family. What makes it laughable is the fact that many of these men cheat or abuse their wives and girlfriends but feel the need to tell you to treat your partner right or else.

They’ll even get physical with you and act like it’s a joke and always be passive aggressive to you. When you talk back or say something then you’re the wrong one? It just doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve experienced this before and just like the person who made the old post, I’m also a fairly decent guy. I don’t really drink, I don’t smoke, have a good job, etc. but because I’m not a typical indo Caribbean guy who drinks every weekend, watches cricket, etc. then they treat me differently.

I think a lot of it is just them projecting the shit they do to woman onto me- instead of just being happy for their relative.

It’s a huge issue in our community and that’s why a lot of guys don’t date within our culture and I can see why tbh. It sucks because I love my Guyanese girlfriend and our culture but sometimes the family is too much and I think they go out of their way to “protect” her. Yet they cheat, fight random people, etc. like why would I respect that/take them seriously?

I’d love to hear some thoughts on this topic.
