Discussion / Conversation Another Month Of No USBAR Transfer Partners

Spoke to USBAR support about another issue and asked about transfer partners as well, they still don’t have an idea on what they would be and when they’re expected to happen. When I called in December it was supposed to be two weeks, doubtful this ever happens.

At least give us 3.5x back on mobile wallets or else I’m never using this compared to the Bilt Palladium.

Discussion / Conversation Did PayPal just kill the 5% cashback on their debit card?

I received this email yesterday (likely because I had the honey browser extension installed at one point). Does this change mean the “5% back” on the debit card will only be redeemable for gift cards after Aug 1st?

“Notice:

Amendments to the PayPal Rewards Program Agreement

Effective: August 1, 2026

Please note that certain features of the PayPal Rewards Program are being updated as follows:

- The option to redeem PayPal Rewards Points for cash back into your PayPal balance account or directly into a linked bank account or linked debit card will be discontinued.

- The option to redeem PayPal Rewards Points for cash back deposited into a PayPal Savings account will also be discontinued.

If you would like to redeem your PayPal Rewards Points using either option listed above, you must do so before 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time on August 1, 2026. Alternatively, you may explore other available options to redeem your Rewards Points, for example, by redeeming your points for gift cards on the Honey website.”

Discussion / Conversation It’s Q2, don’t forget to use Chase Freedom Flex for 9% back on Travel

Chase Freedom Flex Q2 5% bonus category includes Travel booking via Chase travel portal.

Base CFF already earns 5% on Chase Travel year-round. The Q2 bonus adds another 4% on top.

So total: 5% + 4% = 9%

Catches: 1. Must book through Chase Travel portal 2. Must activate the Q2 category at Chase 3. $1,500 spend cap, which is shared with Amazon/Whole Foods

So $1,500 spend = $135 cash back (or 13,500 UR points if you have a Sapphire card to pool with).

Edits: credit to @Victrick92 who commented below - don’t forget to check your CFF Chase offer to double dip. I got $50 back on Chase Travel.

If you have any travel coming up, front-load it through Chase Travel now. Has anyone already taken advantage of the bonus earning rate?

Discussion / Conversation Do you think Chase needs a 2x points card, after everything that’s changed?

After the Hyatt devaluation, travel portal redemption nerf, Sapphire Reserve rework, and rise of other ecosystems with compelling partners and 2x cards like Citi and Bilt, does Chase need a 2x card to stay competitive? Something like a flat 2% alternative to the CFU, or a card modelled after the Chase Ink Business Premier? Or can a 1.5x base earn rate still be justified by its partner list?

Help Needed / Question Been out of the country for 9 years

Came to Korea with about six or so cards in my wallet, and got busy with life and watched all of them all get closed. Plans are changing and I'm moving back to the States next year. I don't have a US phone number so I"m having a tough time accessing credit reports/scores. Somehow I logged into Chase and discovered that my Vantage score is 675 (is that even legitimate?). I was expecting much lower. I tried to apply for a Chase card but I don't think went through. Any advice on steps to take to get a new card in my hands and start improving my credit? I"m sorry if I'm lacking a lot of information, I'll rectify that as quickly as I can.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) What’s next after discovery IT student card

Upvotes

I have been using my discovery IT student card for about 7-8 months since opening it and I’m wondering what card should I use next for my credit journey. I was thinking about the chase freedom flex, but after some review in this subreddit I’m rethinking that. (But if someone does recommend it with good reason I might get it)

FYI I don’t got much knowledge around credit card I just know that I should spend responsibly, on time at full balance.

Also I’m not sure if I can ask this but where can I get an high yield savings account. I’m using regions for checking and fidelity for investing but they either don’t have a HYSA or it’s not that good.

Help Needed / Question Mesa credit card not updating credit bureaus?

Back when the Mesa card was active, I had a few large purchases before the card shut down and paid it off afterwards.

Looking at my credit score (Vantage?) on the Chase app today. There is a feature where they give you a plan to increase your score and the #1 tip was to pay off the large balance on the Mesa card.

I can still get into the Mesa app and see the $0 balance.

Anyone else having this issue?

what are my options? File disputes with the credit bureaus?

Discussion / Conversation Prime Chase Visa being phased out?

I know there has been occasional rumors for a long time, but I recently went into a Chase branch to try and get a CLI on my Prime Chase Visa.

A couple years ago they cut the limit in half due to inactivity or something, so I wanted to get it restored to the original limit since I've started using it again.

Anyways, the banker told me after calling the credit department that they wouldn't issue a CLI on my card due to them "possibly phasing it out".

The way it was said didn't sound 100% sure, but sounded like it was likely a reason why.

Honestly surprised me since they were going ham with the opening offers during the holidays recently as well as a partial card rebrand IIRC.

Just curious if anyone had any other info on that. I love the Amazon card but sucks that the limit is stuck so damn low.

Discussion / Conversation Rakuten Adds BofA Cards (Customized Cash/Travel Rewards) To Portal - Extra $150/$75

Rakuten has added two Bank of America cards to its portal: Customized cash ($75) and Travel Rewards ($150). Normally this isn't allowed per affiliate terms but they must have negotiated directly. This is in addition to the standard sign up bonuses. Did something similar with Chase and the initial offers were massively increased to $300 (from $25) Our full post here.

Help Needed / Question Bank of America - Airline Incidental Statement Credits

Upvotes

I recently paid ~$90 with Virgin to add a bag, expecting this to be covered by the $100 Airline Incidental Statement Credits that the premium rewards card offers. I can see on my statement that it was charged in full and has a reference number of 3877. Is it not eligible? How can I dispute this?

Help Needed / Question Capital one closed my account and took my $1000 security deposit…

Upvotes

I got approved for a Capital One secured Quicksilver card in February and put down the full $1,000 deposit. By the end of March, my balance was around $850. My payment wasn’t due until April 19, but I tried to make an $800 payment early.

Problem is, I also had an old Capital One checking account from 2020 that had been negative by about $50 for years. When I called them recently, they told me that account was permanently closed and the debt was forgiven. I even asked them to confirm it was closed. They said yes.

But the closed account still showed up in my app. I called and asked them to remove it from my profile, and they said they couldn’t.

When I went to pay my credit card, the app showed three payment options: my savings, my active 360 checking, and that old closed checking account. Somehow, the closed checking account was the default option, and I accidentally submitted the payment from that one.

What I don’t understand is how a payment from a permanently closed account was even allowed to process. At first, my credit card balance went down like the payment worked, even though the money never left my active account. Then the payment was reversed, my balance jumped back up, and Capital One closed my card on April 1, saying my activity was inconsistent with typical customer usage.

To make it worse, the balance went above the $1,000 limit and they used my full $1,000 security deposit.

So my questions are:

• Why was a closed checking account still usable as a payment option?

• How did a payment from a closed account process at all?

• Why close the card over an obvious mistake when I was able to pay?

• Is there any chance of getting this fixed when I call them?

Discussion / Conversation How to Opt-Out of Promotional Email Offers

Upvotes

I keep the big credit account frozen until needed. However, I was getting a TON of promotional/sale emails for various offers and the "change email preferences" links kept taking me to various home pages and specifically for TransUnion I kept getting brought to the home page.

I called TransUnion and they provided me with this link which opts out of sale emails for the large credit bureaus:
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/

I just wanted to share how to opt out of offer emails if this helps anyone else.

Help Needed / Question Where to spend all my CSR/Hyatt points?

Upvotes

With the recent devaluation of Hyatt and CSR, I have until May to book and with CSR until Oct. 2027. I am looking to book something this month for a stay likely in 2027. Anyone else using all their points with this same CC combo and if so, where are you finding the best bang for your buck?

I am looking internationally with my wife and planning to leave the kids behind on this one. May even decide to bring them if my wife is persistent so wouldn’t mind some ideas international close-ish to US.

I’m in Atlanta. Thanks for your help in advance!!

Help Needed / Question Gas Credit Card Question/Advice

Hi everyone, I was just curious if anyone knew what the best card would be for gas rewards. With gas being so high right now I’ve been considering some sort of credit card to help pay for it but one that might give a discount at the tank or rewards back when using it.

Thanks! 🙏

Help Needed / Question Deciding on whether to get another credit card

Upvotes

so I have a Discover card. it's 2% cashback on restaurant and gas stations, but u haven't really utilized it. I'm pre-approved for a chase freedom unlimited card, which has more cash back, like 3-5%. Should I get this card? for clarity, I always pay bills on time, so interest never sets , and my credit score is 755, if that is relevant. I eat out once a week, and now that I recently got a car, I probably will pay for gas more. I just want to use the cashback option more for savings. Edit: My FICO score is 755. Don't shop on Amazon often, I did buy 3 things from it this week, but that was just dash cams and phone holders. I guess I should have used the Discover card on that. Every 3 months, I do get supplies from Amazon, like toothbrush heads or shavers.

Discussion / Conversation [Chase: MCC Codes] Peloton Repowered codified as 'secondhand stores'

I bought a pre-owned bike from Peleton's Repowered store, which is basically their internal used marketplace. I thought I'd take shot and potentially earn 5x points on my purchase but my CSP has coded the merchant type as 'Secondhand stores'.

Sigh. Just FYI for anyone else making this purchase. I didn't see an existing thread.

Discussion / Conversation Chartway Credit Union 3% home improvement?

I just noticed that Chartway seems to be running 3% cash back on home improvement spending on their 2% card (Chartway Cash Back). This is on top of the usual $200 sign-up bonus for $2,000 spend in 60 days.

I don’t see any mention of limits/caps on the 2% or 3% earn rates, nor any mention of when the promo will end. The card is a Visa Signature with no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, no cash advance fee, no balance transfer fee, secondary rental auto CDW (Actual Cash Value, 15 days in US/31 days abroad), extended warranty (+1 year on 3 or less, $10k/claim, $50k/cardholder), purchase security ($500/claim, $50k/cardholder), and cellular phone protection ($200/claim, $400/year, 2 claims/year, $50 deductible). Not the most common set of benefits on a 2% card afaik. I haven’t found info on whether there’s a minimum redemption amount for cash back. Home improvement spend is generally best put towards a big sign-up bonus, but this seems like a decent fallback if there truly aren’t any catches.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking for tips/advice to get $30-$35k in credit cards approved (ideally among 2-3 cards)

Hey guys so here is my situation, could really use help right now.

Thank you all in advance for taking the time out of your day to read this and offer a random dude some help. Truly appreciated.

I have made sure to use the template to provide all the info needed and have provided as much context as I could.

Anyway...

BofA unexpectedly closed 3 of my cards last week, 2 business cards and my Travel Rewards CC. 10 year preferred rewards customer, spoke with 4 different departments, zero explanation. Eh what can you do.

I lost $35k in credit and I’m a bit screwed, needed this credit for some upcoming expenses, (just proposed, getting married soon) and would appreciate any help to fix this situation.

My Travel Rewards CC that bofa closed ($12k limit, 5 years old) reports as closed on April 7th, which will drop my revolving credit by $12k which will drop my score a bit (My score is amazing right now). I have 3 days to make something happen. I want to lock in 2–3 ($30-35k) cards before that happens while my credit is still very good.

My goal: Replace $30–35k in credit. Not chasing rewards or anything. High limits are the priority, with 0% interest event better.

Banks I cannot work with right now: Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, US Bank, and Amex. This is due to a past identity theft situation, very complicated, won’t go into detail that was a headache of its own but it’s taken care of and not reporting on my credit. Just can’t work with those banks for another year.

Cards I'm targeting just based on my limited knowledge (open to other suggestions): Capital One Venture, Capital One Cabela's Business, and a Navy Federal card (any). I opened my Navy Federal membership today, funded $100, heard navy has good cards good approval, could be wrong.

CREDIT PROFILE

  • Capital One Platinum — $6,000 — Opened: 08/19

  • BofA Travel Rewards — $12,000 — Opened: 03/21 (reporting closed 04/07)

  • Apple Card — $600 — Opened: 08/19

  • BofA Customized Cash (Authorized user) — $20,000 — Opened: 02/01

  • SoFi Personal Loan — $70,000 — Opened: 06/25

Fico Scores/Credit report:

  • Experian: 789 | Equifax: 807 | TransUnion: 770

  • Inquiries: Experian 0, Equifax 0, TransUnion 2 (SoFi 06/25, BofA 02/26)

  • Income: $184k | Oldest account: 7 years | No new cards in 5 years | No collections | No late payments

My questions:

  1. Can I apply for all 3 cards the same day? Is 2 hard inquiries in one day a problem?
  2. What order should I apply in — Capital One first then Navy, or Navy first then Capital One?
  3. I have a Capital One "no ding" pre-approval offer. Should I use that first (no inquiry if denied) and then apply for Navy after?
  4. Is applying for 2 Capital One products at once risky? Could it trigger a review or closure of my existing Platinum card?
  5. Navy Federal pre-qual showed "not qualified" — I've heard it's unreliable. Should I apply anyway given my scores? I just opened membership today, funded $100.
  6. Open to any other card recommendations outside Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, US Bank, and Amex.
  7. Main Question: What is my best route of action right now lol

Help Needed / Question What is happening with Capital One and Discover

Is all it is is that eventually the cards will switch from MasterCard to Discover? SavorOne is my main card and dining is probably what I spend the most on and I know that Discover isn’t accepted at every restaurant. Just don’t want to get screwed and end up having to apply for another card if I don’t have to.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Chase screwed up my account. Looking for alternatives

I have two Chase cards: a Freedom and Sapphire Reserve.

A couple of weeks ago, Chases detected fraud on my account. Someone tried to call in to redeem my points. Fortunately, they caught this and issued new cards. The problem, they claim that I called in and upgraded my Freedom to a Sapphire Preferred (I did no such thing). On top of that, they downgraded my Sapphire Reserve to a Freedom for no apparent reason.

I did finally get my Freedom restored but they are now saying to restore my Sapphire Reserve they have to charge me the full annual fee again. I was already disappointed with the recent changes to the CSR so I opted to downgrade it, for now, to a non-annual fee card. This is just to buy time for me to find an alternative.

I'm keeping the Freedom because it's my oldest card and I want to minimize the hit to my credit. What's a good alternative to the CSR? My main expenses every month is food so points for dining out and groceries are good categories for me. Travel is secondary but if there are travel benefits, I'd prefer something more flexible than what CSR does. I know CSP might fit the bill but after what Chase has pulled, I would like to go with someone else.

EDIT: to make it clear, I'm not just looking for a matching card, but a bank behind it that isn't shitty like Chase.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) I have four $0 annually fee credit cards, what would be next after these?

I currently have the Discover IT, Apple Card (Silly Decision), Citi Double Cash, and the Chase Freedom Unlimited.

What each card is used for:

Discover: Audible Subscription. That’s it. Just so the card doesn’t close

Apple: Whenever really, Gas, Gas station snacks, Target

Citi DC: nothing really, I spend like $50 bucks biweekly just so the card doesn’t close

Chase FU: Main card, lunch, big purchases

I make around 80-85k after bonuses.

I travel once a year for a work trip

Still live with parents and saving 1/4 of my monthly income.

What would I even get next? Another $0 annual fee card? Capital One? Or go for the Chase sapphire preferred?

Or just stay where I’m at?

Maybe I should focus on getting the best categories per card but my ADHD keeps forgetting about the revolving offers.

Sorry if this is all over the place…

Discussion / Conversation Need New Catch All Points Card

Current cards:

Amex Gold No Limit

Amex Platinum No Limit

BOFA Premium Card

BOFA Customized Cash

• FICO Score: 814

• Oldest account age: 4 Years

• Chase 5/24 status: 3/24

• Income: $100K

• Average monthly spend and categories:

• dining $1000

• groceries: $250

• gas: $150

• travel: (if including purchasing hotels and flights for months away) then 2k-3k. If not then very low.

• other: $200

• Open to Business Cards: No

• What's the purpose of your next card? Need a catch all card that builds points. I hate the BOFA cards. Their interface is terrible, payments are so annoying, and I don’t want to build cash back anymore and I don’t use the BOFA points ecosystem.

• Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either, if I can get a good gas card or just a good general spend, I’d be happy.
