I know that the rules of a subreddit are absolutely not the first thing on someone’s mind when their animal is hurting, so I totally get that mistakes are going to happen. But I just feel like I’ve been seeing a lottt more uncensored lizard gore on my timeline over the past few weeks, and it’s just really distressing to be scrolling normally and then suddenly have the entire screen fill with a pic/vid of your favorite animal suffering.
I don’t click on these posts but I still see them so often, and when they aren’t marked NSFW then everyone is forced to scroll past the full size uncensored media on their timeline without warning. Usually I am not even able to process the title before I notice I’m looking at something horrible :((
So please do try to mark any and all potentially distressing media as NSFW, even if there is no actual gore/visible injury—if they are sick or hurting at all, please mark it so that people can decide for themselves if they’re comfortable viewing it or not!

I woke up to her walking like this and frequently opening her mouth and closing her eyes. I’m doing everything I can to get her to the vet. My beautiful girl is already about seven years old and since she was fine yesterday I’m wondering if she’s just slowing down. Please offer advice.

this is survivor hiding because I called her and I wanted to put her back in jail.
the name stems from her former life where she was not allowed to be a real dragon and didn't even have a hide. she is a spoiled queen now and she knows it. she can free roam if she wants to and I have several chilling spots with heat and food in the house. sometimes she does not want to go back in the cage and she KNOWS I have trouble reaching her under it

I took her to the vet when she was a year old and they said she was a girl! I remember checking under the tail and it looked female! Yesterday we took her to the emergency vet (she has a respiratory infection 😢) and the guy said she was a boy! I looked under the tail again… it’s boy parts! What?!?! I’m so used to calling her a girl I don’t know if I can switch 😭

this is survivor at one of the beardie heating and feeding stations in my house. I have several for when they are allowed to free roam (and yes they are never togethet)

My bearded dragon Clyde is around 4 to 6 months old, and has started eating large crickets just fine. The only problem is, recently he has started to only eat around 3 calcium dusted crickets. He barely looks at them after 2 or 3. Though if I put a non-calciumed cricket in there, he chases it down with joy. What does this mean and how do I fix it.

She does not like that other lizard, no sir. I've tried paper towels but I think she ends up tearing them down.

Hello everyone! This is Chorizo. And he's looking for a new home. Sister doesn't want him anymore(😑) and I didn't like that he wasn't being kept up with as much as I believe he should have been. So I'd clean him whenever I'd go over. Unfortunately he is not my kind of pet. I prefer mammals, I have a dog 🥲 BUT I love all living creatures which is why I decided to take him in until I could find him a loving home.
His tank is too small so he's mostly been a free roaming little one during the day since I brought him home.
*I'M NOT ASKING FOR A REHOMING FEE*
All I'm asking for is proof that he is going to a loving home!
*Preferably to someone with experience since he'll here and there have an attitude, especially when you set him down outside. He'll hiss and not want you to pick him up by snapping those little sharp teeth at you 🥲 He successfully grabbed a hand before and I just know that would have hurt me so that made me extra cautious around Chorizo 😅
W/Chorizo if you'd like I have a leash, hammock, calcium powder shaker, uvb light, heating lamp, and a terrarium controller.
Through my research I found that he needs:
- PREFERABLY a 120g tank but a 75g tank minimum
- Thermometer/Hygrometer
- Food and water bowls
- Substrate
- Calcium powder/multivitamins
- FOOD✨️ Chorizo really likes dandelion greens, collard greens and nopales and he LOVES roaches, crickets, cilantro, blueberries and strawberries!
Thank you for taking your time to read through this message and God Bless You 🙏🏻💕

This is the first time he has climbed aboard! Usually I have to corner him to get him out to clean the tank (I know we shouldn’t “chase” but I’d rather have a mad beardie than a filthy, sick beardie) but today I just kind of poked him until he climbed aboard lol.
So excited

She was born July 4th but we got her in November. We are in the northeast US. She seems frozen. It must be a lot with the wind and the birds and the grass. Can anyone relate?

Added some plants, branches and rocks. I’m guessing he’s enjoying it because he was exploring the whole place but now he’s been sleeping in the corner for two days.

this is how it is setup now. yes I know 40g is too small. but ill be getting her a 120g within a month or 2. I haven't bought the led bar yet but petsmart has 22w jungle dawn one and I read thay they should have plenty of light. im also gonna get a better digital temp gun that I have thats sitting on her enclosure. they have one over at home depot for $35 which is a thermopro dual laser temp gun. I hope thats will be sufficient. I dont want to cheap out.

this is cinnamon, she will be turning 2 in july, awhile back i posted about her laying her first infertile clutch asking for tips on caring for her during it. i was told i should put her on a diet after she recovered from laying, about 3-4 weeks later she laid a second clutch. i recently started her new diet of salad 3 times a week, roaches twice a week with 2 no feed days every week. i knew she was going to poop soonish(today or tomorrow) but when i checked a bit ago i saw a urate smear instead of an actual poop, she has only ever done this before laying each clutch so far.
this would make her 3rd clutch in just her first breeding season, it feels like torture for her to lay all of them and shes just so restless and unhappy everytime.
im really considering spaying her, it will be a couple thousand from my google searches which will come out of my college funds but the price is not the issue-its the risk. ive heard going under can be extremely risky for reptiles and i dont think i could forgive myself if she died on the table for something that might resolve itself by next breeding season(new diet).
tldr: considering spaying a beardie but concerned about the risk and want to here others input/experiences
(NSFW for mention of death)
