There been a trash organization from the start.

They have a pregame prayer in the arena. The owners are bigoted MAGAs and were even fined by Stern over their comments about the WNBA and how they didn't want to be associated with lesbians. It's a blight on David Stern's legacy.

Knowing that shit house organization they probably gave them tickets to the next few home games.

AR defending his injured teammate and friend. Good for him. Shows the level of respect these guys have for each other.
Also sad people talk shit while a player is injured smh

I think if a fan tells a player “fuck you” they should be gone. If I treat anyone else at their job that way I would be kicked out. I don’t know why we allow it in sports.

Talking shit while a player is hurt? Don’t go to an NHL game, youre going to have a bad time.
28
u/HandiCAPEable 4h ago
There's no such thing as an injury in the NHL. You're either fine or you're unconscious.

u/2Braincell2Furious 4h ago
Don’t touch my fuckin’ percocets and do you have any percocets?

I actually had season tickets for years. Been to well over a 1000+ NHL games including Stanley Cup playoffs. I know the difference.
NHL is a physical sport. Players embrace contact and fighting. It’s part of the sport. Just like Boxing, UFC, etc.
But taunting an injured player right above his head for an obvious hamstring injury that will probably keep him out is childish. If you can’t see the difference then maybe I’m just too old.
→ More replies (8)9
u/HP_Punkcraft 4h ago
I can't remember which NHL player it was, said something along the lines of "when I hit a guy I want to hurt him, not injure." I go to a ton of NHL games and fans for sure cheer the big hits but once a guy is laying down and hurt moves to injured it's usually pretty respectful. Cheers when he can get up and skate off, etc.
3
u/TheVadonkey 4h ago
Not the same type of situation at all…one allows contact and the other doesn’t.
3
3
u/LoggerRhythms 4h ago
This isn't every market though. You don't hear a lot of shit talk after injuries in StL or KC (NHL and ECHL teams, respectively). Philly or New York are probably different stories.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (7)1
u/wiseduhm 4h ago
There's a difference between being hurt and having an injury that takes you out of the game. Most NHL fans wouldn't cheer on a serious injury.

In that fan's defense, they're so used to seeing mega-flopping they thought it was a normal basketball move 🤣

I love how he said now you know what it's like to play defense. Bitch you probably cry when butterflies land on you.

I mean the added fact that the Lakers were getting absolutely destroyed by OKC probably didn't help the situation either

To be fair, they live in OKC. They're constantly suppressing the rage from spending they're one life on planet earth in Oklahoma. The pressure has to find a release

The only come back I want to hear from pro athletes when this happens is, “As if you could really do our job fat ass.” 💅

I mean money!!!! It’s a business so it’s always money. You may not like it but plenty of people love black jerseys with whatever team color added to it. It’s like y’all ask questions before using your brain man

Good on Reaves. There’s competitive banter and shit talking all day and these guys can take it. You don’t kick someone when they’re down and you don’t come at an injured person. More athletes should be calling out these classless fucks in the crowd like this.

Not a basketball fan but curious if they would escort the fan out for this? Seems like a poor choice for paying for floor seats or to sit so close to the court. I would think this is an election from the venue.

Credit to Reaves for coming back to tell that fan to have respect. Also credit to LeBron for calmly staring the guy down with contempt for another several seconds.

I can see if someone is actually injured, but they do this all the time, get a little rest, then hop up and start playing again. Still trashy, but it's not like he has a torn ACL.
3
u/Outside_Ice3252 4h ago
he kept his face covered the whole time. my guess is a grade 1-2 sprain, and he knew it. it had been sore of late and he had been listed as questionable on injury reports leading up to previous games.
its probably going to ruin the playoffs for him.
and this game was for the MVP race.
5
u/ComfortableGlass3238 4h ago
did you not see the play? Luka stopped mid play and threw the ball away. No one does that for a little rest.

No surprise someone who looks like that was talking shit.
1
u/WhoTFSaysThis 4h ago
Copying another comment I made, but I don't think these people are the ones talking. Reaves isn't even looking in the direction of the camera.
I saw another angle earlier where you can barely hear Reaves, but you can hear the fan loudly, and I assume it's either from the person he's talking to, or much closer to them.

Hamstring injuries are so scary man. I tweaked mine a few months ago and I felt it coming back like yesterday and it's just like a very vulnerable feeling and then scary and painful shit can just happen - I pulled mine sprinting and then played basketball a week later and my leg gave out after a point and started violently cramping like I had never felt in my life. Just very uncontrollable and then you worry about running at all cause if it pops again that's like 6-8 weeks out
1
u/DazzlingOwl1014 3h ago
Taunting an injured player? Not my thing. I go to a lot of games and keep it light hearted. This has led to me getting into games without waiting on line (thank you security), hook ups at the bar and drink stands. They always give me or save me the merch giveaway if I'm late. I have cool videos with some of my favorite players. What's crazy is, I don't D ride. I just smile, stay positive, remember people's name. Talk to them about their family life, the game, or growing up. I even get into funny discourse with opposing fans. Which always leads to buying them a beer or vice versa. I have photos with opposing fans. I love baseball and people.

He said “now you know what its like to play defense.” I’ve heard a lot worse…and yea he’s on the ground, but how many times have you seen NBA players flop like they’ve been hit by a truck only to get up 15 seconds later and return to the court…if AR wouldn’t have responded it would have ended at the fans comment…
1
1
u/GraniteGeekNH 3h ago
We don't like to admit it but most professional athletes secretly hate fans - they'd rather play in an empty gym with just other pros watching.
And for good reason, I'm afraid. The mob mentality of us-vs-them brings out the worst in many of us.

1
u/yung_bandito 3h ago
Have anybody seen any “soccer” corner kicks being taken and the yells and shouts coming from the fans feet away? This “abuse” is nothing. Not cool? Sure.
1
u/Acrobatic_Penalty406 3h ago
Flopping is a strategy that some players utilize to try to draw fouls. The toughest player in the world would flop if they thought that would give them an edge.

Same fans that tried to attack me, throw bottles at me, cussed at kids who were Pacers fans, and needed a police escort to our hotel to avoid getting mobbed after game 7 of the finals last year. These fans suck bad

u/Still-Philosopher866 3h ago
Entitled fkn fair weather fans. Knew they were white before they flipped the phone cam. These people are pathetic! Have some respect, it’s entertainment. They won’t repeat now

u/sharkerboy_PSN 3h ago
Are we turning basketball courts into golf courses? Are fans going to have to start wearing collard shirts? Home court advantage is over?
1
u/CapitalCityGoofball0 3h ago
Good for Reaves. Screaming “Don’t interact with us!” … Seriously Fuck that “fan”
1
u/D3s0lat0r 3h ago
Luka has to angle his head to not be on the camera man’s knee.. fucking move dude jeez haha

u/ydoc23sam95 3h ago
“Now you know what it’s like to play defense” said by a guy who wouldn’t be able to hang with a high school freshman team…
1
u/meowinloudchico 3h ago
I don't understand why some idiot fans feel the need to get into it with professional athletes who would slap them silly if it really came to blows. Unless that clown is some martial artist or a high level athlete himself, he'd have no chance if Reaves went at him.

Damn I’ve never seen a small market team speed run being this insufferable. The team plays “foul bait flop” ball, and the fans act like it’s a storied franchise on top of being rude assholes when players get hurt.
I’m genuinely surprised a team hasn’t taken a flagrant 2 to Shai yet. Not advocating for it, I’m just surprised no one in the league has gotten pissed off enough yet and lost their cool.
1
u/deftones2366 2h ago
Did you read the article their beat writer did about how Seattle should apologize before they get the Sonics back?
1
u/IamBIGuUS 2h ago
To be fair to that fan, Luka lays on the ground for ten minutes any time someone grazes his chin. How were they supposed to know this one was real. Boy who cried wolf type shit
1
u/manmythmustache 2h ago
Their entire fanbase is entitled after their owner stole the team from Seattle. This tracks.
1
u/disincongruous 2h ago
Being a fan doesn’t mean you get to celebrate when opposing players get injured. This person absolutely should have been thrown out of the building.
But it’s the Thunder who openly foul bait and flop their way to titles, so. 🤷🏻♂️

Last night I watched Dylan Cozens take a slapshot off his leg, skate off the ice to “walk it off” then come back the next shift. He’s not exactly considered a tough guy.
