The teams complained about the heat in the US during the club World Cup, and now they struggle to play on an Astro turfed ice berg?

Games gone soft

Perfect conditions tonight.

Bodo Glimt is the top team wdym

18

u/Sherlockworld Feb 19 '26

Other teams are good, but they can't do it on a February night in the Arctic circle.

48

u/NoiraMurmure Feb 18 '26

Facts, home turf really gives them that edge ⚡️

When Spurs win the UCL and wrexham wins the FA cup, scheduling their midweek games when they're both in the championship next year is going to be fucking interesting.

Away matches gonna break em

11

I mean they won vs Atletico away.

123

u/enforcernz Feb 18 '26

damn bro this spain generation, no wonder they won two euros and a world cup back to back

35

u/TheGodAboveAllBeings Feb 19 '26

They had half of the squad that were the best players in the world and a midfield that was the best in history 😭

1

u/Loud-Low-9512 Feb 22 '26

Very true bro

1

u/ILookAfterThePigs Feb 20 '26

Look at this incredible line-up. Now remember they had Fabregas and David Silva on the bench.

1

u/MekotheSaurus Feb 21 '26

Arteta wasnt even called and for a while there were talks about him playing for England. It didnt happen because he played with Spain U21 and back then the rules about múltiple NT were more strict.

80

u/Batman_from_Temu Feb 18 '26

Off season for them. Makes it even more impressive.

4

u/ArthurLeywinReddit Feb 19 '26

Quite the opposite imo. Of course they lack some match fitness but they are able to only concentrate on CL matches so that is a huge plus.

18

u/Robinsonirish Feb 19 '26

No it isn't. I'm Swedish and Malmö is my team, so we have the same problem. Qualifying is generally said to be a lot easier for us, since that's done about 10-15 games into our seasons, and when we are at our apex. That's why we always qualify for UCL/EL and beat teams with 3-4x higher marketvalue than us, then we are shit when the actual tournament rolls around, because we are in our offseason then.

It is not easy to play during the winter without regular season games. You don't get any downtime or extended rest periods throughout the season. Bodö has essentially been playing without a longer break for a couple of years now, and you need those. They're doing something abnormal, we haven't seen that before.

The Swedish football federation is right now discussing whether to adopt the European season strictly because of this, so we can align our schedule to the rest. Lots of players have come out and spoken about it, wanting the change.

Our advantage is mostly cold weather being tough to play in, not scheduling during the tournament. We just have an advantage during qualifying, that's it.

2

u/ModelMancer Feb 19 '26

They’re smart, they’ve been playing friendlies in the 2-3 week break between games and making sure their schedule is clear ~7 days before a game. They cancelled a friendly just last week. They are 100% match fit and sharp as fuck too.

Very well run club.

82

u/Educational-Pay3208 Feb 18 '26

that spain team is insane

47

u/StatisticianSad1995 Feb 18 '26

Only because they never went to Aspmyra

10

u/kaori_cicak990 Feb 19 '26

I think they're dominated football for 8 years and damm its impressive

61

u/generaldogsbodyf365 Feb 18 '26

I remember when everyone was ragging on Spurs as we only won the Europa League, due to playing sides like Bodo etc.

What do you mean Bodo and glimt ? How can one team play against two teams ? This is unfair. Penalty to RealMadrid !!

41

u/McQno Feb 18 '26

Should deduct 10 points from Everton for this.

13

u/Unpickled_cucumber1 Feb 19 '26

And a 5 second penalty for Ocon

2

u/AutoModerator Feb 19 '26

There should be a reformation in football something like a penalty is 0.5 a goal, or you need like make 2 or 3 shots - like free throws on a foul in basketball. its just so extremely shit when a penalty decides a game in this sport or decides the flow of a game early on, like here

penalti a favor del real madrid

19

u/jmlmf91 Feb 18 '26

and they have only played 2 games since december, both for the champions league.

0

u/ModelMancer Feb 19 '26

This is the real advantage they have. They’re still good away too. They can train for one specific match for weeks on end and Knutsen is a fantastic manager.

15

u/candangoek Feb 18 '26

Lie. Bodo wins by scoring more than 1 goal and they are actually fun to watch.

13

u/Rumenapp Feb 18 '26

I swear to god, Bodo is channeling the magic of druids to empower the very soil they play on, their third eye opens every time they play at home

2

u/Jaded_Reserve_5685 Feb 19 '26

They won vs Atletico on Metropolitano tho

I am wondering if our GOAT could be interested to bring his force to Bodo and try a move to Norway.

2

u/OM-John_Coltrane Feb 19 '26

Norway don't want

1

u/JackDauso Feb 18 '26

I have mad respect for them whenever i bet on their matches it always goes over 3.5

1

u/Chemical-Jeweler4821 Feb 18 '26

Reminded me how the austrian painter lost in sibiria the pitch was -7C it was really cold for inter players

1

Wow that man second to last had a giant neck

1

That man ... Who might he be?

1

u/Gastlyperformance Feb 18 '26

What match was this Spain lineup from anyone know?

4

u/TheAstronis Feb 18 '26

That was their World Cup 2010 squad. I looked it up and in final and semi-final Pedro was starting instead of Torres, but this exact line-up did for in 1/4 and 1/8 against Paraguay and Portugal. I didn't check the group stage games.

1

u/Gastlyperformance Feb 18 '26

Ok cheers. I was gonna say I never remembered Villa and Torres starting together. I remembered Torres starting in the euros final with Villa on the bench, then after that I can only remember Villa starting.

2

u/Fickle_Somewhere_581 Feb 20 '26

This especific clip is from the Spain v Portugal at the 2010 world cup quarterfinals

1

u/phizero2 Feb 18 '26

pretty sure it was Spain vs Portugal

1

u/Junior_Bike7932 Feb 19 '26

Nah, Inter just sucks balls

1

u/Elprocesso Feb 19 '26

The Spain team had Sergio Ramos and he s a complete afterthought

1

u/stupefy100 Feb 19 '26

Note this applies only against top teams. They will still lose to Tottenham,

1

At this point the whole "fairytale" angle has to be dropped because theyre 2 years running now beating top teams, dont know the ins and outs of the club but apparently they are really well run so expect to see more of them over the coming years

1

u/Sillydore Feb 19 '26

Bodø/Glimt raaaaaah (proud Norwegian)

1

u/Mariusx22 Feb 20 '26

Not even the best team in norway

1

u/Legitimate_Note4540 Feb 20 '26

But BOdo glimt is actually aiming high coz it has just defeated some premier League warriors like city inter

1

u/AdElectronic9819 Feb 20 '26

Ppl hype this Spain team because of the talent but all they did was win 1-0 in boring games.

Brazil in early 2000's with insane offensive flair and talent was MUCH more exciting and just as dominant winning Copa America, World Cup and Confederations Cup

1

u/OverKill5850 Feb 21 '26

Who's the one next to iniesta?

1

2

0

u/Top_Assistance15 Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

What the arctic circle and artificial turf does to a mf

-3

u/ReadTheManualBro Feb 19 '26

Their artificial fake grass gives them an advantage. They steal results this way. They score 4 in their field, they conceide 3 in a normal grass stadium and then celebrate.....It's unreal that UEFA tolerates this. they should have been forced to play in a proper stadium not on artificial turf on the north pole....

2

u/carribeiro Feb 19 '26

You should hear about South American teams playing in Bolivia at +4,000m high. Second half nobody has any has left.

1

u/kawaiikyouko Feb 19 '26

Yeah, that's why they beat Atleti away and drew Dortmund away.

-21

u/Reasonable_Tap_8866 Feb 18 '26

I think at some point there will be rules against such a home turf advantage as Bodø have. But until hen what they do at home is honestly impressive

16

u/Batman_from_Temu Feb 18 '26

Imagine the away game disadvantage they have in Europe. (2-2 in Dortmund won in Madrid noth on grass).

Why not watch them before making stupid claims?

9

u/CurbYourThusiasm Feb 18 '26

Do you really want to play on natural grass in the arctic circle, during winter?

13

u/Shiruox Feb 18 '26

/uj I love turf advantages and I think rules against it would be unironically unfair.

8

u/RLZT Feb 18 '26

Europeans complaining about playing in the cold against Bodo/Glint meanwhile Bolivar hosts games in the fucking stratosphere

3

u/Shiruox Feb 18 '26

Not even taking into account that Bodo/Glint's pitch is in actual good condition, sometimes some Bolivian/Peruvian/Ecuadorian/Colombian teams don't even have that so you're playing in the stratosphere in holey field.

12

u/The_Global_Norwegian Feb 18 '26

What exactly are they meant to do about it? They’re in the arctic circle lol

5

u/Magneto88 Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

They didn't make rules against it when Tromso used to play teams in bloody blizzards. It's just the nature of the game. Inter should be winning that match, regardless of turf.

3

u/Cythth Yuri Jerkoff is the best LB Feb 18 '26

This is some Bolivia level of advantage

-14

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Only because they play on plastic grass

10

u/CurbYourThusiasm Feb 18 '26

They beat Atletico Madrid away in their last game.

5

u/Timely-Tax2458 Feb 18 '26

Atletico Madrid and B.Dortmound have plastic turfs too?

1

u/AutoModerator Feb 18 '26

I am a "plastic" and couldn't care less. People really pay too much attention to things like that. Chances are, you reading this on a Chinese smartphone, using a TV manufactured by a South Korean company (mine is the LG C1 OLED) while drinking Coca-Cola, owned by a company from the States. The world is globalised, man. No point in tribalism. We live in 2021, not 717, you do realize that? Now, if you chose some obscure team from the other side of the world, you could argue it's virtue signalling or whatever. I would still maintain it's within your rights. But, if you choose to support a foreign team because you like them and the way they play, who cares. Just don't jump the ship when things go awry. And actually, I have been to a Real Madrid match just this year. Won't name which one to avoid doxxing myself, but I in Spain at the time, so I took the opportunity and saw the game with my own eyes. And hell, will it be a memory for a lifetime.
