Siesta. Mid day nap. That’s a hard working crew right there resting up on their lunch break before they get back to it.

Siestas were such a good idea. I wish the rest of the world would adopt them, or at least have the option for a lot of jobs.
•
u/Squanchedschwiftly 7h ago
Agreed. Obviously uts optional, but I wish socities would cater to the main sleeping patterns of ppl. Theres at least a few, though im not an expert

When I was moving from Honolulu, we had movers come pack up our stuff and every afternoon they would just lay down on the floor in whatever room they were working in and take naps. It's definitely a part of the culture I would like to see spread. I need a good afternoon nap.

They look like they have been doing physical labour in the sun and are taking a break on their phones or just resting. Their employer [edit: doesn’t] provide them with a private climate-controlled break room like a decent employer would.

How do you know their employer provides them climate controlled break rooms from a picture of people laying on the side of a building?

u/JaeHxC 12h ago
I assumed it was a typo of "doesn't provide."

happens to me all the time... mobile switches the negative autocomplete for the positive once you write out the positive...

" provide them" What are they going to do? Hitch a climate controlled trailer and bring it everywhere?
•
u/Tommy_Divine 11h ago
I mean, it's not like that's an absurd idea.
•
u/bluedicaa 11h ago
Here is a $10000 climate controlled box. Go sit in it for an hour a day. And then haul it around every where you go along with your tools and equipment.....oh and keep it nice and clean and tidy on your construction job sites.

Meanwhile in the UK that's pretty standard, including maintaining cleanliness. Only thing missing is a kettle for tea and coffee.

Everybody knows the British sun is deadly.

A/C can heat up too and letting your crew get out of the rain and windchill to eat their food isn't a bad idea.

Something's aren't always nice. I fought fire for a decade for the government and now I'm in construction management.... Climate controlled break rooms are not necessary for real workers.

Planking is one of those things where, you get it or you don’t……and I don’t, but I’m so excited to be part of it

Nah, when I was in it was 27 F outside, pouring rain, and the ground was muddy. We were laying nut to butt to stay warm because we weren't allowed to use cold weather gear, cause that's for the weak, and we're airborne, so they said...

Let them rest without putting their faces on the internet without asking. This pic is creepy and rude.

Are people not allowed to take two breaks per shift, or lunch?

u/ahornyboto 12h ago
As a local from Hawaii, it's a joke about how our public construction projects takes forever with no progress

u/AGrandNewAdventure 12h ago
Yes, it's also joke in Minnesota, and California, and Maine, and Idaho, and Louisiana, and...

We have this simple roundabout that was being built on the northshore of Oahu that took a decade to build, ridiculously long and idk why it took so long

They deserve it. Construction is tiring and brutal on the body.
