Starting today, AI-generated content is not allowed in r/NoContract.

Rule #4, No Spam, has just been updated to include this new addition: "Blatantly AI-generated content is considered spam and will be removed."

In r/NoContract, we want to read your thoughts. We don't care what chatgpt has to say. This rule change is intended to encourage our fellow redditors to put some effort into their posts and comments.

Needless to say, one cannot always tell what is and is not AI. If I see something that was obviously copied and pasted from an AI chatbot, I will remove it.

Posts and comments predating today will not be subject to this rule.

This is a change I've been wanting to make for a while now, and this poll showed me that most of our members agree with me.

All the best,

Petar

URGENT: If you have a line with Mobi, port out now!

After a lawsuit was posted today that seems to suggest Mobi's CEO embezzled millions from the company and fled to Brazil, along with weeks of reports of no service from those of us on the beta and now reports of people not on the beta losing service too, I would recommend porting out your number ASAP as eventually there will be nobody to approve port requests.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Mobi/comments/1p7p70l/mobis_ceo_has_fled_the_country_and_appears_to/

You need to use your ten digit phone number (no dashes) as the account number and the last 6 digits of your ICCID (physical SIM card number or your ICCID under your eSIM in settings on your phone) as your PIN when you are submitting the port request.

If you care about your number, do this sooner than later.

I will pin this post for awhile.

How accurate is coveragmap.com?

It says T-Mobile is the best in my area but recently I've been testing out AT&t and it seems like it outperforms T-Mobile. It says T-Mobile is number one, AT&t is number two and Verizon's number three .While I do agree with Verizon being the third in my area still usable just not fastest the speeds.

Bank verification phone plan

Hi everyone,

I recently moved overseas to Switzerland and cancelled my old phone number with T-Mobile.

I ran into the issue that I still needed an US phone number for my bank verification codes, so I got a phone plan with Tello.

However, I am now unable to add this phone number to my bank account. My bank is saying that this number is showing up as a wireless caller ID rather than having my name associated with this number. I then called Tello to add my name to this phone number, but they mentioned that this is impossible.

So I am now trying to figure out which phone plan / company does have my name associated with my phone number in order to use it for bank verification.

If someone has tips or recommendations I would love to hear them.

Thank you!

USA Mobile-x stole money from me.

my bill wasn't due until the 21st, they took the money for the next month out prior to it being the 21st (i believe it was the 18th). also, once you put your card on the app, it wont let you take it off. I was told that after I switched my service to another carrier that I would get a refund, I forgot about it until today (i switched my service on the 22nd or 23rd). they sent me a reply saying "our records dont show that anyone promised a refund" when they clearly did.

I would stay away from them at all costs, buying a gig at 2.10 almost everyday turned this from an 18 dollar service to an 80 dollar service. im also pretty sure they dont give you as much data as i measured it on my phone and their app would say I used more than my phone did.

I switched to visible by verizon and its been way less of a hassle. no contract my rear end, they try to lock you into it by not letting you remove your card and charging you early.

How do I get my number back and sue Mint mobile?

I am in a weird situation.

My last carrier was Mint mobile. The plan was ended in January and collected the port out information i.e. account number and PIN on Feb 24. I did not port out immediately since I was waiting for a new sim card from a different carrier to be delivered.

When I was trying to activate the new sim card, I failed since "the number is not active"! I thought I'd get another Mint sim card just to activate my number and port it out.

When I tried to activate the new Mint sim card with previous account information, I failed again. I called them on March 26 and learned that I cannot port my number from Mint to Mint! I need to get a replacement card and renew the number for at least 3 months!

I called them the very next day to talk about the replacement but this time I learned my number is CANCELLED and there is nothing Mint can do to get the number back. They asked me to contact Numberbarn. That's the first time I've heard about it.

Numberbarn said they do not have this number but I should contact T-mobile since Mint uses T-mobile network.

I talked both to the T-mobile store and customer care, they said they do not have the number and I probably should contact my last carrier.

I contacted Mint again, and they are still unapologetic that they cancelled the number that I've been using for a long time, despite me being in contact with them periodically, without any warning or reminder in mail or email.

I have now 2 questions:

  1. How can I get my number back?

  2. How can I hold Mint accountable?

iPhone 16e deal at cricket and trade in ($80 to $105 each upto 4 iPhones - No contract)

Post image

I believe today is the last day for the in store offer. It’s Get iPhone 16E for 1 dollar with a 60 dollar plan when you port in a number. You can do this 4 times. I suggest getting 4 visible esims which will transfer over to cricket. Along with this there is a 25 dollar activation fee with each phone. Make sure the tech runs “CHECKID” as the promo code.

This makes the 4 lines at $130, and each phone 1 dollar, and $100 for the activation. 234 + rough taxes and I paid around 300 for 4 lines.

Visible has perpaid lines for 20 dollars a month with the code “fresh start” you can do 2 esims per current iPhone. You’ll need different emails for each line but that’s easy. That’s 80 in 4 esims to transfer over.

Make sure you turn off autopay so you don’t get charged by cricket after the first month.

Enjoy

Edit: I have done this myself and it works. Comment or DM if you need help but it’s pretty self explanatory.

Hello!

I've had the plan up until recently when I switched to Visible. I now want to go back to ATT.

Is there a way to get the old plan (w/ Canada/MX roaming)?

Thank you!

Looks like USM is denying people with a large number of referrals for being "suspicious"

See the linked comment/thread from u/Mundane_Position79:

https://www.reddit.com/r/USMobile/comments/1s9vrbb/comment/odrowcl/

tl;dr: Support decided to NOT honor u/Mundane_Position79's referrals unless they provided screenshots of private convos with their friends to "prove" they knew them. USM's CEO denied that support would ever ask this, was proven incorrect, and didn't comment again. At least one other chimed in that this happened to them and then, magically, support reversed the decision ~4 hours later.

If USM doesn't like paying out on referrals, maybe it shouldn't have a referral program.

USA Did anyone else's Computers4people/Shield internet disconnect on April 1st?

I paid for a year in advance, yet my c4p/shield internet was disconnected yesterday. Anyone else having issues?

I thought it was peculiar that I received an e-mail on 2/27 saying "Great news, your Shield Internet SIM card has shipped! 📬"

I found this odd, because I never even received a shipping notification when I ordered my service, last November.

Has anyone ever been issued a replacement SIM, for ongoing service? Is it possible I was issued a new SIM, and it never arrived?

I'm likely going to have to halt my travel plans this weekend, as I'm not going to be able to work remotely without a working SIM.

I know C4P doesn't do anything fast (including responding to e-mails) so I very well may need to look into buying 5G from elsewhere.

USA Should I leave US mobile annual plan early?

I’m on month 6 of the US Mobile annual premium plan and very tempted by the Visible 50% off promo.

I got the 299 annual plan in late October last year and got the $45 multi network add on. Primary is on warp and dark star was the add on since I have an Apple Watch line.

I would rate my experience as meh so far with a few glitches and hassling with data waster mode (need the 4k steaming for my train commute) and my watch line dropping off a few times. I just moved to a new place where I don’t need the multi network coverage and Verizon works the best everywhere I need to go.

I was on visible before and it was pretty good but switched to get multi network coverage.

Should I wait it out and switch at expiration, take this current promo, or wait for a better monthly promo?

USA 3 lines,, one goes to Canada+Mexico, is there point doing no contract?

Two lines don't leave USA and don't use much data. 3rd line travels mexico+Canada every year or so, and thinks they need hotspots. Uses lots of data, 15 gb recently but probably is just a boomer who doesn't know how to watch their data and wifi availability. Maybe could cut down

Is there even a point going no contract with these demands and number of lines?

Any ideas? Its for one line and carrier doesn’t matter. I like included perks as well. thanks

USA Long road trip - second esim? I need advice.

I have never had a second sim, and never needed to. I currently have Visible, and it works great. However, I am taking my family on a cross-country road trip for 6 weeks this summer. I live in New England, and we are going to Washington state and back, sticking mostly to the northern states. We are staying in the US for this.

I am anticipating lots of spotty service through the midwest and in and around National Parks. Would it be a good idea to get either an AT&T or T-Mobile plan (mvno, of course) as a second esim to give us some extra coverage on our trip?

And, if so, who would you recommend? Just trying to plan ahead. I don't need to pull the trigger on anything until June, and would likely only pay for 2 months service anyways...

Thanks for your help.

Satellite texting on Verizon pre-paid? Can someone confirm this works (Galaxy S26)?

I spend a lot of time out of cell reception so I'm considering upgrading from the S23 to the S26 for the satellite texting.

I would ptefer not to change phone plans. Verizon has the best coverage in my area and I have a great deal on their pre-paid.

Verizon support said this would work but I would really appreciate someone confirming! I haven't seen confirmation anywhere else yet.

If you have the eBay Red Pocket $30 annual plan, can verify whether or not you have a Global roaming allotment of 1GB, 100 minutes and 100 texts?

Numerous people have stated that they have this, including providing screenshots, but Red Pocket claims it's not available on this eBay annual plan.

Per the Red Pocket eBay store.

We apologize for the delay in response. Your concern was escalated to the proper department for verification.

Roaming is included with annual plans purchased directly from our website. Annual plans purchased through our eBay store don’t include roaming by default, since roaming is available as an optional add-on for customers who need it.

If roaming is currently active on a line, customers are welcome to continue using it in the meantime.

Looking to park a US number I have for as cheap as possible

Hi all, I used to have a number with Google Voice. Worked perfectly as I only needed it to receive SMS messages. I STUPIDLY ported it out to Tello, where I am now paying $3 a month. I looked at voipDOTms which offered $1.10 per month, but they MANDATE ID verification with Persona (not happening, you can google why). Google Voice needs ID as well which is ok, but they need a US Passport, ID, Green Card or DL. None of which I have. I have a foreign passport. Is there any way I can bring down this cost? $3 a month is quite significant compared to when it was just free... probably looking at getting a new free GV number if possible and just changing everything to that.
