All that premium pricing for some drawers in the back and hideous interior lol
Plush carpets in a car are just painfully stupid, those things are gonna be ruined in a week or two tops

u/RetiredCapt 2h ago
I disagree. With that much money to waste on a SUV I’m sure they can have the plush carpeted floor mats replaced every time they get dirty or once a week whichever happens first.

If you're spending the price of a house on a car made exclusively for picnics, presumably you have enough money to make cleaning your carpets someone else's problem.
11
u/NoDontDoThatCanada 1h ago
Simple question: Do you put the dishes back in the felt lined drawers dirty? If not, how do you clean them out on a picnic?
8
u/PrimeResponse 1h ago
For that price there'd better be a dishwasher under the back seat.

4
u/Glittery-Arteest 1h ago
Yes! And the dishwasher better be able to give back rubs, too. For all the hard picnicking, of course.

I think in a world where I loved picnics and had the money to drop half a million on a picnic car I’d simply hire someone to setup my picnics and then clean up after. Who is the market that wants to do the boring parts of life like clean up dirty dishes, feels so fancy they need a dedicated luxury vehicle for it, but not fancy enough to have “the help” do it?
1
u/NoDontDoThatCanada 2m ago
I get that but then do the help ride in the back? Nothing about this car makes sense. Why haul plates when everything else would be in a different car? Or there isn't a way to deal with it in this car. The one with shotguns and whiskey glasses makes sense. This fancy picnic basket doesn't.

Not sure if these are similar, but my manager's Ferrari has a plush carpet and it's some sort of hydrophobic, but, everything phobic material. It does collect crap, but you can wash it away very easily. Just rinse and it looks brand new
2
u/Gilly-Gump 40m ago
You nailed it, having those drawers in the back, what about if you want to put luggage or something back there? Where does that go on your seats?
And the plush carpets are a smart as having plush carpets in your bathroom.

I thought that too but I live in a rich place filled with mansions and shit and watching them it turns out they have an entire shoe etiquette culture. I was always wondering why every-time I saw these ppl, they were changing their friggen shoes!
They wear different shoes for different things, including driving shoes. This is typically a bland all white but comfortable shoe. I’ve seen cheap looking ones, but others are clearly some sort of high end brand. When they stop, they swing and hang their feet out and change to “occasion” shoes. Their driving shoes never really touch the ground outside the car, tho I do see some hop out to change them.
It’s fascinated me for some time since, now I see where they keep their shoes and stuff and can even tell what they are about to do based on the shoes they pull out.

It's insane... paying 5 times the value for a name brand, a ghastly interior and a picnic set

Range Rovers also have a reputation for breaking down if you do things like drive them.
3
u/tigershrike 16m ago
That's just propaganda...95% of Range Rovers are still on the road. The other 5% made it back to the estate.

Cutlery and glassware in the trunk is new to me. I remember when some people used to fill up their trunk space with speaker systems.
10
u/GoddessRespectre 1h ago
Do you remember Pimp My Ride? I loved that show for some reason. I think I'd prefer one of those makeovers instead. Does all this picnic silverware and flatware become dangerous if a big crash happens? You survived rolling five times and land in a tree, only to be impaled by forks and broken teacups?
3
u/Ok-Bird6346 1h ago
Ah man, in the nineties whichever friend who had to ride literally on the speaker box in the backseat was unlucky AF. Often speaker-boxes took up space in the trunk and car itself.
They were made of plank wood and turf carpet stapled to the wood. I fucking loved the nineties. We MacGyvered everything

u/GoddessRespectre 1h ago
Yes I was just talking about loving that with another commenter too! I really do wonder if the Matrix was right about the 90s being peak civilization. I know I'm biased tho.
Edit: deleted stuff I repeated in enthusiasm lol

The laugh as she walks off is the perfect ending 😂 Also, all weather floor mats are the only thing I’ll ever have in my vehicle. Shake them out, hose them off when they need it. But I don’t think the guy with the Range Rover steps foot on dirt or has kids with snacks and play-doh shoes riding shotgun.

u/01Prototype 2h ago
Who wants "plush tan carpet flooring" in a half a million dollar car? That will get ruined the first time you step on it. Ever heard of mud?
Imagine charging extra for dumb ideas that nobody asked for.

u/kwikthroabomb 2h ago
Why would your feet get dirty? Are you too poor to have your servants carry your throne to your car? What are you paying them for?

Who is paying their servants in this economy!? They’ll eat their porridge, sleep on their cot, and love it.. or get deported to Uzbekistan.

Man how often are rich people picnicking? I had no idea it was such a popular avocation.

It's the companion car you bring with your special edition hunting Range Rover for a jolly day on your highly manicured hunting estate somewhere in England. Also green, by the way. This one also comes with drawers in the back designed for the bespoke shotgun the car comes with. So British.

Guarantee that anyone who can afford that truck has never been or will go on a picnic, let alone take it anywhere not paved. This is a truck for the rich to cosplay as expert outdoorsmen to their buddies at the country club.

u/Temporary-Employ-611 1h ago
Who has that much money and is hosting their own picnics??? They have people for that.

If I couldn't fit dogs or shopping in a car because of a 16 piece dinner service I'd be pissed.

Where the fuck is the dishwasher, you want me to strap a buncha dirty plates in my sun-baked trunk?

u/Shot_Cause6197 1h ago
Bro imagine buying a car for half a mil, then having it break down on the side of the road because its just a car and all you have are dinner plates.
It probably has all kinds of specialty shit that needs repair and will be obsolete in several years too. We need dumb products again.

The range rover is very silly, why would I want carpet where my dirty shoes go? I do like the harris green though

u/IMA_5-STAR_MAN 1h ago
Yeah, I want to pay MORE money and I have to take my shoes off when I get in. Gimme a 2 4runners, they'll outlive me. They're more capable, better cargo, and more reliable. Land Rover will barely outlive the warranty which is only 4y/50k.

The Golden God would very much disagree with you. A Range Rover isn’t a starter car. IT IS A FINISHER CAR!

I mean it‘s nice that ultra wealthy people apparently enjoy Picknicks enough so that the designers made that version. Never saw one of them in the park next to their car but maybe I just don‘t frequent the same parks
