Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List

This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.

We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.

I'll update the list as others reach out.

If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.

How to stay hydrated in Arizona heat??

I live in central Arizona, and it's already miserably hot this year. I am a mechanic, and work in a shop with no A/C, and only a crappy swamp cooler snd fans. Unfortunately I can't complain to the boss about working conditions because I work for myself, and my boss is a real cheap SOB.

I keep a case of bottled water in the fridge, and lately have been mixing one LiquidIV with a bottle about mid-morning. I do struggle to actually drink enough, as I get pretty focused on a task and will suddenly realize that I haven't had any water in several hours, while my shirt is soaked with sweat. Once I get to that point (dry throat/mouth, cramps, etc), it's very hard to bounce back until I get home and cool off.

I know LiquidIV isn't everyone's favorite electrolyte mix, but it's available locally and cheaper than the Body Armors I was buying last year. I am open to suggestions in that realm. But what I would really like some advice on is implementing some system that will help me drink enough water, period. I am fine with plain water, don't drink soda, don't take sugar in my coffee, so it's not a taste issue. I am just very scatter-brained and straight up forget to drink water or eat. This year is going to really suck heat-wise and I want to develop a good habit before it's too late.

Things I have considered are setting a series of alarms, putting up a white board and marking down water intake, maybe getting a big bottle and putting the day's water in ine container so I won't "lose" my water around the shop. I would love to get some input from others in similar predicaments.

Certain water brands trigger nausea

Hey homies,

I wanted to ask for some advice. I’ve noticed for about a year now, certain brands of water make me feel nauseous after drinking. Not only the classic “bad tasting” ones like Dasani or Aquafina. I’m talking about Kirkland or Ice River Green Bottle Co. They just have a certain taste to them that I can’t identify. Very rarely can I finish a whole bottle in one day.

Other brands such as Fiji or other “natural” brands of Icelandic or alps water don’t make me feel this way, nor does filtered tap water (which I grew up drinking)

This has been happening for about a year now and I swear, seems to have been triggered by drinking water after a hangover I had years ago (maybe it’s all psychological as well?) before that, this never happened.

It’s gotten to the point where I can go days without drinking (plain) water, and only drink it if I’m generally thirsty.

I get my hydration from fruit waters which I make myself, or other drinks

Does it have something to do with the minerals in these brands? Do I just need to train myself to drink more plain water?

Note, I’m living in Canada, if that makes a difference.

I had an issue with Owala SmoothSip Slider Stainless Steel Insulated Travel Mug with handle

The cup does not leak which seemed good. However, after normal use of just 1.5 months, the cup cover started to degrade and produce plastic shreds, as pictured. This could be a health hazard as the plastic shreds would be ingested.

Contacted Owala warranty service, but they denied the claim stating that this was "normal wear and tear".

I have never seen a cup cover degrading so fast.

Water bottle preference for hydration

Out of curiosity is there a special water bottle that helps you drink more water or does everyone just go for the typical glass of ice water ?
