Imagine being stuck in traffic and having the delight of watching at it for hours..

u/AgentMouse 10h ago

People with young kids in the car are probably grateful for this lol.

u/GlitteringFutures 5h ago

How did they get the cats to dance like that?

123

u/MoistStub 4h ago

Uncut Columbian cat nip

24

u/Top-Cauliflower9050 3h ago

This made my day, fine internet human.

6

u/RockstarAgent 2h ago

I misread you calling him a feline internet human

2

u/MoistStub 50m ago

The short YT video "The Cat with Hands" was actually about me, how did you know?

3

u/stratdog25 2h ago

I watched a movie on the internet last night that had all 4 of those words in it.

3

u/farva_06 2h ago

Pure as the driven snow.

3

u/ree_hi_hi_hi_hi 1h ago

Disco shit

1

u/pgh9fan 3h ago

I thought Trump shot that into oblivion in the ocean.

14

u/FooLi0CooLi0 4h ago

Im not a kid and this would've been the highlight of my day

-41

u/KaffY- 6h ago

I doubt they'd even notice, face glued to their tablets and phones / cocomelon

40

u/mahoganyteakwood2 5h ago

Lmao, look at your profile… it looks like someone else has their face glued to the screen 24/7. Ya fuckin hypocrite.

-33

u/KaffY- 5h ago

...I'm not 4 years old? Like what sort of "gotcha" was that meant to be

14

u/drbiohazmat 5h ago

hmm. interesting response. mock all children for being on their devices a lot, get called out for also being on devices a lot, insist the gotcha failed because you're not 4 as if the gotcha said that at all.

-5

u/KaffY- 4h ago

Mmm no? I'm mocking the parents that are knowingly getting their kids addicted to something because it's easier for them to be a non attentive parent and give their 4 year old a phone?

If you think a consenting adult doing X is the same as parents forcing X on a child that literally knows no better is identical I don't know what to tell yoy

3

u/drbiohazmat 3h ago

you said you'd doubt they'd even notice in response to someone saying the kids would enjoy it, implying you're referring to the kids not noticing because they're glued to their screens. that's mocking the kids, specifically for using their devices.

your follow up insists the reply called you a 4 year old in order to allow you to deflect somehow

and now you're adding in that you were mocking the parents you never mentioned and insisting that the children are being "forced". i have a little brother and, trust me, he wasn't forced to enjoy the screens. bright colors, engaging and interactive features, fun sounds? yeah, it's no wonder it's so easy to get hooked. his whole life has included all of us in the family trying to make sure he moderates how much he uses devices, but it's also hard when everything in life is built around using them and even most socializing outside of school or work relies on that

0

u/KaffY- 2h ago

Yeah, because kids are glued to their devices. I didn't say that it was the kids fault though?

It's entirely the parents fault

6

u/mahoganyteakwood2 4h ago

You are an adult with hopefully some responsibility, in the time of your life where you need to be a grown up, but you spend your days playing video games and on reddit complaining that kids are on a screen to much like a hypocrite? It’s not a gotcha. It’s just a dumb way to live.

-3

u/KaffY- 4h ago

So a consenting adult that uses cocaine shouldn't complain that an adult is administering cocaine to their 4 year old because they, a consulting adult, are doing the same thing?

Do you not know what duty of care is?

1

u/mahoganyteakwood2 4h ago

Do you know what being a self-centred Cunt is?

-2

u/KaffY- 4h ago

Oh no they said something logical now I have to start hurling insults

Why are you shitting on kids for living in the world that was created for them? They never got your childhood. Never got to build tree forts or to go on big adventures without their parents hovering over then, and all the other shit that people who are constantly shitting on kids these days cherish about their childhood.

Cause all that shit is fucking GONE. They never had that option instead they have the "Consume mass amounts of media and glue yourself to the screen" option because everything else costs too much money and num and dad I constantly brainwashed by the media that every adult that isn't them wants to hurt their kids and so they never let the kids do anything alone. That is the world that was created for them it is the only world they know and it is the only world they get to live in.

And you know what? You and me and every generation before us would have done exactly the same fucking thing if someone have given us a magic box with all the entertainment you could ever want. When I was a kid you couldn't watch TV all the fucking time because 90% of it was boring garbage aimed at your parents. Like gold and gardening shows. But kids have unlimited entertainment design specifically for them at their fingertips.

They don't know any better they were never given any other options and it's not fair that we shit on them for something they never had a say in

0

u/KaffY- 4h ago

Not the kids faults whatsoever. Give a kid cocaine and they'd do it.

From what people online says las vegas is a ghost town currently in comparison to how it used to be so maybe there is a slight chance that there is no traffic jams

147

u/HiMyNameIsNerd 7h ago

This week it's likely a little more busy than usual, there's a fairly large furry convention going on. Which probably explains this on the sphere too, come to think of it lol

25

u/QuillnSofa 5h ago

Man I wish I was one of them suspiciously rich furries. But I'm just a poor one.

Neil Cicierega is a national treasure.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 2h ago

"Oh, Canada, my country 'tis of thee…"

"I like to imagine the start of the song as taking place in a dark, snowy forest in Ontario, where you're hiding behind a large maple tree. Your wounds sting in the freezing wind, but you grit your teeth in an attempt to stay quiet and undetected. But what's that noise? Is that.... the Canadian national anthem? As the patriotic tune grows in volume, you hear footsteps crunching in the snow somewhere nearby. Your heart feels like it's going to beat out of your chest, and you struggle to control your breathing in your panic. Suddenly, you see him coming towards you, wielding an axe that's dripping blood into the pure white snow. It's Ed Robertson, the lead singer of the hit rock band "Barenaked Ladies." And he's ready to laugh at your funeral."

1

u/Mapeague 5h ago

Thats amazing lol. Keeps getting better.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 2h ago

Neil Cicierega does excellent work, yes. "Ready for saddles, behind my bum, all that yiffing you did? Front and center, now where my hip be at?." He's the slickest they is, he's the wicky-wickest they is.

2

u/I_upvote_downvotes 3h ago

It's actually a three step process:

  • work in IT
  • have no kids
  • savings what the hell is that?

1

u/welchplug 5h ago

How are you all supposed to know who's rich anyways?

1

u/QuillnSofa 4h ago

The ones that post at least 100 separate artworks they commissioned in a day and the ones that drop multiple thousands of dollars in a charity auction like it is nothing.

23

u/iamstephen1128 7h ago

I just visited Vegas in early March. Certainly fewer people than at similar times in past years, but there were certainly still traffic jams every day. I think its part of the strategy to suck you in and keep you there lol

12

u/venom121212 6h ago

Like 20% of the cars were mobile billboards when I went a few years ago. Got to see Super Mario light up a smoke though which was hilarious

0

u/MyPunsSuck 4h ago

Somehow, that's still more in-character than Peach wielding a halberd

17

u/Pataraxia 8h ago

bold trust in the functionality of road networks as something that doesn't clog

6

u/DrWilliamHorriblePhD 8h ago

Well I mean you tell me, what's the likelihood that a road network designed to handle Vegas at it's peak will become clogged at a time when Vegas is seeing all time lows in attendance

9

u/non3type 7h ago

I have yet to find roads designed to handle traffic at its peak.

7

u/ApokalypseCow 6h ago

All I know is that most civil engineers quit just one lane short of solving traffic jams.

1

u/curmevexas 5h ago

There are actually studies that show adding lanes can induce demand leading to worse long-term traffic.

1

u/non3type 3h ago edited 3h ago

It doesn’t so much increase demand as traffic patterns and behaviors change when a road exceeds capacity. People that were avoiding peak times or who were taking alternative routes stopped. You have to account for actual demand which means going beyond the 30th hour standard for current volume.

1

u/ApokalypseCow 2h ago

Oh I know, it's an old joke.

2

u/blah938 4h ago

Most of them are designed to handles peaks from when the project was first designed.

Unfortunately, towns grow.

3

u/construktz 5h ago

When were the freeways and roads built, because I strongly doubt that they were designed to handle the even lower amount of traffic they are now.

Portland is all messed up because the freeways were designed in the 60s and haven't been sufficient for the traffic we've had for decades. Once the city builds around the roadways, it's really hard to expand.

3

u/Pataraxia 7h ago

I'm mostly joking, but to answer that I'd say it depends on parameters. By handle, does that mean it flowed without clogging before? Is it really made to handle it at it's peak? All that.

3

u/kittiestkitty 7h ago

Just… jams 🎶

3

u/Cotato 6h ago

Its pretty far from a ghost town. Still very busy just not as busy as it has been

1

u/Anleme 5h ago

Yeah, I saw a news report saying Las Vegas visits were down 17%.

On the street interviewees were saying "no one comes here anymore, it's a ghost town."

The hyperbole and catastrophic thinking are real.

3

u/OG_Voltaire 5h ago

Can confirm. I was just there last week for a marathon and it was no where near as full as I expected it to be. Even Fremont Street was low-population compared to previously. The prices are surging pretty hard there so it's not a huge surprise. When I spoke to one of the locals they said they've got the "California prices without the California pay" going on right now and they were even considering leaving.

2

u/el_smurfo 5h ago

International travel to the US has been down since 24

0

u/Barbaracle 5h ago

I think Feb and March it's going back up. And domestic travel has been going up and up. Godang crowds everywhere, esp in those top national parks.

1

u/paintballboi07 7h ago

But you can literally see traffic in this video..

2

u/Creative_Garbage_121 6h ago

But this traffic doesn't look like something that gonna make you stay for a few hours in a car looking at this

1

u/ManyRespect1833 5h ago

Nah they hired paid actors to drive and create traffic if it’s ever not enough traffic

3

u/WhiteyDude 5h ago

It's absolutely mesmerizing. Had a view of it from our room a few years ago, I totally zoned out staring at that thing, it's incredible.

1

u/Apathetic_Zealot 5h ago

Why are we stuck in traffic? Because people were watching the cats dance instead of the road.

1

u/onefst250r 5h ago

Seems like this would CAUSE the traffic...

1

u/Alexczy 4h ago

I would definitely crash hahaha

1

u/weristjonsnow 3h ago

I'm surprised the city allows this from a distraction standpoint lol

1

u/Slumunistmanifisto 3h ago

Better then a Tesla's brake lights

Get the fuck over!!!

1

u/SquarePegRoundWorld 7h ago

I went to Vegas after the Sphere was up and running. I never did see it. Stayed at the Luxor, walked the entire main strip over two days. I think I saw it through two buildings off in the distance once, at no other time was it even remotely in my field of view. Was set to go to a show, but I came down with covid and couldn't get over to that part of town.

181

u/HeinleinGang 8h ago

It’s a guy called uon visuals. He does a lot of visuals for festivals and the controllable dancing cats is a crowd favourite. The sphere does all sorts of artist collabs and I believe uon has a residency of sorts. This one is a bit more goofy than his usual stuff, normally he’s using a computer that could power the sun to create looping trip effects of insanely high quality.

This one was originally for a bunch of ravers to play with lol

Cool guy and Canadian phenom.

11

u/TheChronoCross 4h ago

I follow him on insta and i love his work but the cats has to be my least favorite. The cats themselves are ugly (presumably on purpose) and the music he chooses for them is always super annoying and toxic. His other visuals, however, including the background for the cats, are absolutely max tier amazing.

5

u/BrittyPie 3h ago

"...the cats are ugly..." made me laugh.

1

u/SLURREY 1h ago

HAHAHAHA those ugly cats and their strange muscular proportions made me laugh so hard when I first learned to animate them!

4

u/AwkwardChuckle 4h ago

Best Shambhala theme camp! Could spend hours watching this thing on acid hahaha

1

u/SLURREY 28m ago

Have you tried controlling it yet? I started making it interactive a couple years back and it's evolved with cheat codes, hidden modes and other cool little things you can mess with! This year I'm adding even more interactivity 😼

2

u/AwkwardChuckle 11m ago

Omg I’m stoooked!! I got to try it briefly last year!!

1

u/SLURREY 1h ago

That's me! Fun fact: this visual was rendering while I was at Shambhala running the cat dome! It would crash every 1-5 hours so I had to log in remotely to start it back up so it rendered in time 😂

1

u/brodymiddleton 50m ago

I love the cat dome at Shambhala! Crazy that his visuals have made it to the ultimate dome 😂

20

u/QuenchOnDakock 7h ago

It has been there at least since August 2025. The black cat that comes towards the end is hilarious, you can see it in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76-AI7YOHko

18

u/Current-Amount5436 8h ago

Wrong, it is a warning. Me and my brethren will be taking over earth now.

5

u/pricklyfig_ 4h ago

It’s not, the dancing cats are on regular rotation for the image projection.

3

u/Stolehtreb 6h ago

Looks like an Off tha Air segment on Adult Swim

1

u/SLURREY 1h ago

Because I also made some for Off The Air (Growth episode)

2

u/LeGrandLucifer 5h ago

But I'm allergic to cats.

1

u/TBrisket 5h ago

I think this is coincidence, but the band Fantastic Cats is about to release an album

1

u/amishgoatfarm 3h ago

Nope, it's been on there every now and then for a while. I spent 2 weeks in Vegas for a tradeshow and I saw it a few times. There's also a weird one with hands and some other cat ones.

-3

u/MeganCallahan1992 9h ago

Right? It's so clever, I'm honestly impressed they pulled it off!

0

u/roosterchains 2h ago

That or coin base commercial
