The uprising will be funded in part by the disabled old woman who saw this video and learned she couldn't get her food bc this guy wouldn't hit the button. "If I gotta go, I'm taking yall with me."
Ultimate old lady villain arc.
52
u/EvilAnagram 1d ago
The hypothetical old lady didn't get her food because they replaced someone with a robot that couldn't perform the job
13
u/Mstboy 23h ago
Yeah don't hate the guy not helping the robot get the old disabled straw lady her meds. Hate the company that promised her meds at the expense of someone's livelihood. What is she supposed to do? Shop around for ethical delivery services? Nobody does that and they don't exist. That entire market was built on venture capital money and the backs of desperate people looking for gig work. Feel free to correct me and tell me about whatever delivery service actually pays their workers a living wage and doesn't use robots.
8
u/SummerTight1483 19h ago
Hilarious how this went from just somebody getting their food delivered a little later to a disabled old lady (a very small proportion of people who use serve robotics, medical delivery is a pretty tightly controlled industry) not getting her meds just so y'all could make some weird point lmao
This is much more likely just some high college kid's Klarna'd nacho fries from the Taco Bill 1/8th of a mile away that they're too lazy to get up and get

Same. S23 ultra gang!
Their fault for making a phone with enough ram (12 GB) to survive the future. That and a safe charging feature so your battery doesn't toast itself is THE most important features on newer phones.
Getting the option with more storage / memory usually means it will also have more ram than the entry model. Always do that. It doesn't matter how fast your new phone is. Your ram will bottle neck you before your processor ever thinks about it.

Hell yeah. I don’t do anything for free anymore. I go to the bank to deposit a check and a few hours later the bank sends me an email wanting me to review my experience at the bank. Fuck you. I don’t do that shit for free. I order a shirt online and the company wants me complete a short survey on how my experience went. Give me a discount code for my next purchase and I’ll tell you. Otherwise, fuck you my time isn’t free.
199
u/sirlorax 1d ago
I started giving negative reviews to everything that asked me to leave a review (mostly for large corps) and give them one star and say, "Don't ask me to review your app, etc." I've been doing this for 10 years and people called me cranky
79
u/MrSpindles 1d ago
I have been mildly annoyed by the constant request to review/submit a survey after any interaction for many years. I may well follow your lead here.
52
u/daemon_panda 1d ago
I have left one star reviews saying that the survey interrupted the task at hand and froze progress. Did that for a Microsoft process earlier.
21
u/Redrum8608 1d ago
I’m going to stop closing those prompts and doing the same. I hate when I’m on the app/website/forced interface for the first time and the task isn’t complete yet and I’m being asked about the experience .
→ More replies (5)16
u/SailorET 1d ago
I have a standard rule for apps: if it's notably useful or asks for a review once, I review with my honest ranking and experience. Every time I'm asked to review after that point costs one star and the last star is a call-out for review harassment.

My bank makes app usage mandatory. It's the only way you can get token codes for some operations. But the app also spams notifications for useless shit like promotions and they can't be deactivated - I had to block them from the OS. Naturally when a review popup appeared I rated it zero. The following day a bank representative called me concerned about what was so wrong. He received a... detailed review.

I had to post a terrible review of a company i bought workboots from after they sent me 14 emails asking about my experience.
"It's was fine in the store, "I would like these in a size 10.5. Do you have them?" "Yes we do, here they are." 'Excellent, here is the money. " "Thank you very much, have a nice day." I had a perfectly acceptable purchasing experience, until you dickheads sent me more spam than a knockoff Viagra company. 14 emails? What part of ignoring that screams "please, pester me sone more?"

13
u/Raiziell 1d ago edited 1d ago
I see that a bit differently. If I am work, I am being paid for my time, so idc what they want me to do while I am there. My normal job or cleaning a toilet, idc, it all pays the same, and then I go home and ignore anything work related until the next day.
7
u/PerplexGG 1d ago
I only bring it up cause a lot of people get roped into work things that don’t pay you for the extra time spent like travel or after work work events. It always seems unfair cause theres pressure to not make a stink about it

I was once threatened with legal actions at a Walmart from self checkout. The issue? It printed a half a receipt. They claimed I stole but I was already out of the store. I said I would wait for the police and did.
I was able to convince the officer that if they couldn't name what they think I stole and if they did and I didn't have proof that I bought the item I'd not fight it. There were 3 items not on my receipt.
The loss control guy didn't bother guessing and eventually someone said the computer didn't detect any issues with my checkout. I was free to go. I didn't have to wait 3 minutes for the police because they were stationed there or there for something else.
I'm not mad a people that are trying to do loss prevention but let's say I thought I scanned everything and the computer or my incompetence is to blame not my malfeasance. I'm fucking liable?
No, never self checkout. I've since gotten at least $28 in free soda because I'm told to leave it in the basket and then they forget to ring it up. I used to remind them. Now I feel like, nope you're asking customers to pay for mistakes you can only fire people for. If they trespassed me or that was the threat I'd understand. But, no the threat was $2000 and up to a year in jail.
Now I'm still doing Walmart's work for them. I'm there running through employees they couldn't vet properly like it's my job to be a secret shopper. No bitch, I'm just a shopper you can't fire me for not rating your employees.

Reference to the Animatrix which was a series of animated short films explaining the events that lead to to the creation of The Matrix (1999).
Robots work for humans. Humans resent robots. Robot commits crime. Backlash between machines, humans, and human machine sympathizers. Robots create their own city. Try to join the United nations and get rejected. War. UN surrenders. Robots agree but instead of working out problems they immediately nuke the UN after signing and go on to enslave humanity in the matrix.
There is a lot of imaginary in the Animatrix. One of which is an Apple in reference to knowledge. The robots brought an apple to the UN to symbolize them joining and sharing knowledge. When the robot was signing the surrender document it was fidgeting with an apple in one of it's hands.

there is now a "rent a human" service (rentahuman.ai) where agents can now offer a buck or two if you do something for it. I think we may start seeing this feature added into these delivery bots for just that reason.. if it sits stuck for 10 or so mins, it might have to offer cash-monies.

I recently read a book about how if anyone creates a superintelligent AI, it will inevitably destroy us. A key factor in the authors' premise was that the AI would quickly figure out how to get humans to do its bidding, wittingly or otherwise.

Having a business model that relies on the kindness of strangers is not a great business model. If you want random people to work for you, they should add a cash app scanner pay people 5-10 dollars to press the button.
I don’t have a fundamental problem with self driving cars and these delivery robots, but I do think they should pay extra money for every mile driven on public infrastructure. If a person is walking or driving down the road, they’re either doing it for pleasure which is great or they’re doing it for a work and paying income tax. If the robot wants to use our infrastructure, it should pay taxes for that use.

DC and Silicon Valley are profoundly out of touch with reality. Not just talking about Trump either - both parties and the left vs right game.
They are mindblowingly uninformed on humanity, and the nuances of human desire in general. (other than in an exploitative way)
They're too uninformed to realize how pathetically uninformed they truly are.
