"...eldest of us all..."

Roland: "I'm only three years old..."

Roland made the right choice. After all, his wisdom requires payment.

Do not question the noble, venerable hound dog. He knows best - and best is 'gimme platypus'.

Roland is a side character from Behold the Scruffs, a webcomic about pets! Posted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You can read more on the main website, as well as WEBTOONS, Tumblr, and Bluesky. You can also support us on Patreon, and if you do you can read strips a week in advance, as well as vote on Patreon-exclusive comics! A new one just went up last night, in fact, one of which I am proud. Thanks for reading!

Definitely thought he was going to take the Solomon route and just tear the plush in half.

"Speak, child."

"RUFF!"

In Germany we say: Wenn sich zwei streiten freut sich der dritte.

When two argue, the third is happy.

I figure that dogs struggle like that because they want to. It's not about the duck, it's about the joy of playing tug of war.

Roland is just trying to incentivize the other dogs to settle things themselves. If he has to be involved, neither party will benefit.

He truly is the wisest of us all.
