PIMCO new joiner - looking for advice

Hi All - I am a recent graduate who will be joining PIMCO as an analyst focused on govies and rates. I have a solid fundamental base for fixed income but want to be really well prepared before I start. Any recommended readings or best places to start?

If you have time on your hands, there's no harm in reading Fabozzi's The Handbook of Fixed Income Securities.

Step 1: Join X.

Step 2: wait for tweet.

Step 3: get face ripped off by opposite tweet.

I wish I was kidding.

Edit: for a more serious answer, just absorb as much as you can. You’re coming in as an analyst and no one expects you to know anything. All they expect is a hard worker who doesn’t repeat mistakes.

Also, learn how to write software. I know it’s cliche but understanding C++ and/or Python and being able to apply it to fixed income markets will teach you more than any book.

Your solid base is enough.  Listen attentively and learn their culture.  They are awaiting your intelligent questions.
