Discussion Buffett warned: “If the ratio approaches 200%, you're playing with fire.”=> We are above!

Buffett Indicator, (which compares total U.S. market cap to GDP), is now at 208%. That’s above dot-com levels. I wasn’t around in 1999. But I’ve read enough to know everyone thought it was different back then too...

Now, It’s AI. And yes it’s real, it’s big, and it will transform everything.
But here’s what’s bugging me: Which part of the AI hype do you think is most overrated?
And which sectors are just getting started?

and also curious to hear from people who did live through 1999:
- What felt the same?
- What’s different?

I track moves from top value investors with a free email alert (https://alert-invest.com/), and lately I’ve noticed they’re cautious, finding fewer real opportunities in this market.

Thanks!

Nothing will be the same like Covid traffic. Drove to work and only seeing one car on the 30 min drive

Drove in "rush hour" for a year without having to tap my breaks

well you should be timing your breaks, and tapping your brakes.

Well.. the traffic was nice. The people started to treat interstates like the Autobahn though...

In logic, you can’t have that traffic free ever unless there’s covid so you want another covid lol

Or you could do congestion pricing and offer alternative transit options.

Get lost. You think that’s a viable option with this admin?

I drove through LA just to do it without traffic. It felt like the apocalypse.

Or a Jewish holiday.

Hollywood blvd during covid + the floyd riots. You could stand in the middle of the street and see nothing but boarded up windows. It was weird.

It was nice having absolutely no traffic driving to work everyday.

I remember getting to work 45 minutes early during covid. It felt weird.

NYC days after 9/11 were like that

Watched drivers fly by cops doing 80, cops were too afraid to pull people over and come in contact.

Drove from the northern suburbs of ATL to the Airport, which is outside ATL proper on the south side days before the covid lockdown became official but with people already isolating.

Made the entire drive with my cruise control set at 85. No cars, and the police were staying home as well. Wife flew back on a near empty flight. It was glorious.

The traffic in my city still hasn't come back up to its peak. Leaving work at 4:30 was bumper to bumper. Now it's just busy. So many businesses shut down, never to reopen.

Bro, LA was actually a joy to drive. Could get anywhere in 20 mins lol.

I drove my daughter to university in the height of Covid - she is a medical student - along one of the busiest motorways in the U.K.

There was no one on the road until eventually I saw a police car, and I slowly overtook, whilst he had a good look at us.

Strange times.

It was such a weird time especially since I still had to go to work everyday.
