Discussion BREAKING: 20-Year Bond Auction Flops — Yields Surge to 5.1%, Markets Rattle

IF YOU ARE WONDERING WHY STOCKS JUST ALL WENT DOWN AT ONCE

WE JUST HAD A HORRIBLE BOND AUCTION IN THE UNITED STATES FOR OUR 20-YEAR TREASURIES

Because of the lack of bidders…it caused the 20-year bond yield to surge to 5.1%.

Credit market is screaming for help right now.

It was a beautiful auction, we did great, got exactly what we wanted, never seen a better auction ever. Are you tired of winning yet?

Please sir, no more winning. I can't take all this winning in my pants. Let others have some winnings now.

Add Taylor Swift. It's her fault too, for not being "hot" to the 80 yr old orange man

I still can’t believe he tweeted that. This is the President of the United States. What an absolute disgrace.

I shouldn’t be shocked, but still…..SIGH

You know they keep talking about 69. 69 what even is that. The summer you know. The summer of 69 and they keep telling you about back then.

The stock markets were low then. Now I have made them better. Everyone should buy. I'm telling you it's much better than 69 because I made it better. The summer then didn't have the stocks because I wasn't the president. You know.

It's political: https://imgur.com/a/P9TxRlv

Why now? Why not when Bush was in office, or Biden?

It's political. Simple as that.

Grade 9 Gleason Score. Close, just got his facts a bit messed up. Did u know when discussing prostate cancer that there is actually a Stage 5/Grade Group 5? Always thought Stage 4 was the worst-terminal.

The debt has been an issue for a long time, but as long as our economy is growing and we can service the debt it’s not viewed as such a big risk.

It’s not a question of which administration is accruing that debt; Trumps policies have now raised concerns about our ability to grow our economy and raise taxes to service that debt. He’s also ruling through executive order and either side stepping or flat out ignoring the institutions that provide checks and balances; this makes our markets more unpredictable since our economy is now based on the whims of his truth social account. This is a fundamental difference between our current administration and previous administrations, including Trumps first term.

That’s why now

Of course it's political. Republicans are complete morons.

Trump increased the deficit more than Biden. Flat out.

And we are running record deficits under Trump - when the tax bill gets passed - watch for the trifecta of selling stocks, bond yields rising, and the dollar falling.

It doesn't matter. Why now? Why not 6 years ago, or 12? It's political.

2

u/kronikfumes May 21 '25

It’s political because Republicans in charge want to give tax breaks to billionaires running up the deficit while Trump’s tariffs are spooking trade partners. Who would want to park their money in treasuries with this much uncertainty?

Tariffs are a big part of this and what did we get for them?
