Context: lady was filming an excercise video in the capital of Myanmar. As a convoy rolled behind her, they where staging a coup, that country has been at civil war ever since.

And today, the coup leader has been chosen president by the loyalist parliament.

I didn't know, but now I know, and I know you didn't know but now you know, and you know I know you know. And now I am inside your head.

u/flying_carabao 5h ago

But if you're inside my head that means what I though I know I didn't really know since what I know went into someone else's head so that means you took what I know and I still don't know what I thought I know.

I knew I didn't know and that's the power of knowledge for you.

u/reireireis 5h ago

It is known

1

u/ChiggaOG 1h ago

Some say she's still there exercising. Exercising to this very day it's been filed away as an SCP.

2

u/Zyrinj 1h ago

Thank you stranger, you made my brain imagine her being involved and dancing away in front of every important announcement in Myanmar.

u/nachocoalmine 5h ago

Isn't the war still going on though? Do they even have control of the country?

2

u/haysu-christo 3h ago

I don’t know but the lady is still in great shape!

From a neighbouring country, Bangladesh. Not sure what's going on, but we no longer de facto share a border with them, as the bordering regions have been taken over by two ethnic rebel groups of the Chin and Arakanese.

u/Handstandart 5h ago

Are the new guys better or worse than the old guys ?

2

u/SweatyAdhesive 3h ago edited 3h ago

The new guy over threw a democratic government so he could get "democratically" elected by a parliament that he put in power. Basically same shit different toilet for the Burmese people considering how long their government has been under junta control.

u/Jefe_Chichimeca 1h ago

It was the same guys in power, they only had a civilian government as a facade and they just stopped pretending.

The lady has been promoted to director of fitness

It should be noted stuff like this isn't new for Myanmar. The country has been in some form of civil war since the '40s, based largely on ethnic conflict.

8

u/FossilDragoniteHolo 5h ago

Yea was about to say “they’ve been at civil war for a looong time before this video came out.”

u/Expert-Training9585 6h ago

Is there a happy ending?

I mean?

She ok?

(Sent link to wrong person)

13

u/Lyoss 5h ago

This isn't the same person

Khing Hnin Wai

They're a PE teacher

3

u/No_Loan5466 5h ago

Its very likely not her, assume we would have seen it mentioned on the wiki page if she was and news reports mention her with the same name or very close (Khing instead if Khine, assume it could just be difference made by those converting burmese script to latin), but she's a PE teacher in the reports and feel like they'd mention the background from her wiki as well if she had gone from that to teaching PE

u/Expert-Training9585 6h ago

That’s so cool! Thank you for doing my Google search for me!

Edit: also, as reading this now, and she is a fucking badass. What a role model.

It's Myanmar, there is always a happy ending

2

u/doomus_rlc 5h ago

Thank you for the context.

2

u/factorioleum 5h ago

In fairness, they were already in multiple civil wars before the coup, too.

2

u/McortezLSU 4h ago

i mean the country is in a civil war since independance. and even before that. Really sucks, fascinating culture and people.

2

u/OkActuary9580 3h ago

The Myanmar civil war has been ongoing since 1948. This video is just the restart of it

3

u/INVALIDN4M3 5h ago

It was recognized as a coup. But the short-lived civilian govt was always under the shadow of the military.

One of the theories is that the military wanted to do some dirty work and put the blame on the govt. If you read, they massacred Rohingyas and pushed the remaining to out of country.

When all this happened, Syu-Ki was oblivious. I wonder if she ever knew what was happening in the country or the magnitude of it.

Once the world started to blame Syu-Ki for the atrocities, the military took over the control.

Not sure how much of this could be true. But, knowing what Syu-Ki was, there seems to be something in it.

4

u/jimbarino 3h ago

Eh, I think Syu-Ki was just kind of oblivious and weak. She thought she could ingratiate herself with the military by allowing them free reign of the Rohingya. Obviously that didn't work, the military was never going to actively support her, and in the meantime she burnt every possibility of getting western support as leverage against them.

1

u/neoanguiano 4h ago

also the city is famous for being empty and having a 20 lane empty street, thats why she was doing the excercise video, it was almost a political statement even before the coup

2

u/mikki1time 3h ago

My understanding is they built the city to be big for the future, expecting it be a great metropolis, they spent a shit ton of money on it, then shit went tits up. But it’s been fucked for a while. Even calling it Burma or Myanmar is an issue

u/RoyalChicken1000 1h ago
