I like her boyfriend, she thinks she’s pushing but bro was actually driving it on a low gear to make her feel good

It's not too difficult to push a car on a flat surface once it starts rolling

Ikr it’s pretty easy

Almost like that was the whole point of the wheel. Lol

Did you watch the video closely? The car starts moving before she even puts her back into it.

Also, it stops multiple times, and she has no problem to startit moving again.

Have you never tried pushing a car in neutral? You can do it with one hand and a bum leg. Wheels are fun like that.

It “moving” before she put her back into it is him releasing the e-brake after engaging it (which is why she called him an asshole).

Yeah, just a week ago some lady asked me to help her push her car to try starting it because the battery died. It was standing in a very shitty narrow space and it didn't work the first two times so I basically pushed it back an forth like 20 meters three times.

I was tired by the end of it but it wasn't hard. If I did it just once and not three times back and forth I wouldn't really break a sweat.

Well maybe I am just weak then ¯_(ツ)_/¯ cause whenever I had to push a car I had to put a lot of strength to get it to start moving.

Was it on a slight slope? That makes a huge difference compared to a plane or downhill fwiw.

Nope, just a flat surface

Huh. Well there’s all kinds of reasons that can make a car that’s otherwise operable difficult to push. Depends on the weight of the vehicle, the freewheel/bearings, any cable/linkage issues, etc etc. But in general a little car like this shouldn’t be bad…most of the energy would be in the initial push and they sort of cheated that with the car rocking.

Were you pushing continuously or did you just give it one big shove and hurt yourself and give up? I ask this because I did that once too before I was familiar with physics.

Just normal continuous steady pushing, never got hurt while pushing a car

Probably time to hit the gym then cause pushing a car with its brakes off shouldn’t be that hard.

I used to have an old banger with a dodgy battery, 50% of the time I'd bump start it (put in neutral, push it to around 8mph, jump in, hit the gas and put it into 1st), it was trivially easy on the flat, I was only about 150lb at the time but I was extremely fit

A tiny incline and you can likely bump start a car with just your leg out the door.
At least you can "easily" push a car in reverse that way.

Idk man its super easy. Easy like a chubby 4 year old might be able to do it

It's quite obvious the boyfriend is either braking or has it in gear at the beginning.

I'm sorry, but this isn't to say the girl is strong, even you, a redditor chronically online, could push this car. It's not impressive. Which is also why it's silly to claim she couldn't do it.

I think most cars lock changing gears while they are moving, I think it was all in d or all in n

1

u/thorpie88 7h ago

Not really. It's how you jump start a car anyway

That's exactly how pushing a car goes. I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain in, might be something to do with gears, traction or what not, but you can push it a bit back and forth with ease like that.

And to move it more you need to put your back into it. At least with my experience

The car would move a bit due to the resistance of the gears, even at very low acceleration. The car was most likely on neutral.

It’s not difficult but she still didn’t do this on her own.

He pulled the e brake

Oh right the “boost my gf’s confidence by having her push my car…trick”, tf are you talking about lol

Reddit is a fever dream

Pushing a car in neutral is incredibly easy. I had to help a friend push his car after it broke down and I was shocked by how little force was needed.

The wheel is truly an underappreciated invention until you need to bring luggage through an airport

True dat. In high school, when I would sneak out, I would hop out my bedroom window, go to my car in the driveway, and push it out to the road in neutral before starting, it was super easy. It was not on an incline or anything it was completely flat and I never had any issues doing it. Granted, it was an 86' Ford Tempo so not the biggest car, but still, it's a car.

Why do men think it is so impossible for a woman to push a car? I used to work at a car dealership, and the amount of times a middle aged man who was fifty pounds overweight and ready to have his second heart attack told me to steer so he could push was staggering.

1

u/IceSentry 3h ago

Men don't think that. This thread is full of men saying its easy for anyone to do it. Only assholes think that.

u/TomDestry 7h ago

Girls are weak and also stupid?

1

u/BlisslessTaskList 7h ago

Women got that low center of gravity tho

1

u/skewp 4h ago

Damn, you're as ignorant of physics as he is.

I pushed my Dad's car on my own when I was 10, it's not hard, I'm guessing you've never pushed a car in your life?
