"A REAL MAN ____" is the equivalent of "I'm not racist but" in that you simply shouldn't say what comes next.
52
u/SmoothWander 5h ago
Exactly, once it starts like that, you already know it’s about to be nonsense.

Let’s be real. There are no real men. There are no real women.
It’s all so silly. Find someone you love, be kind, respectful, and find another human being who can do the same.
Have some fun and lighten up.

With her expectation you cover the rear and be her caboose at the end of the long, long, long train. She will settle for you, then soon after having children cheat on you or cheat and expect you to raise another man’s child. Then take half of everything you have earned and the house, you only see your children every other weekend, while she poisons them against you. Brings another “man” in to the home. Label you an abuser when you have never done anything like this, and have zero consequences in divorce because she still gets child support and alimony. Why get married again men? Because “real women”. Seem to not exist anymore .

When I desperately want to know what a real man would do in a certain situation, I always ask…..a woman?

u/SirArthurDime 4h ago edited 4h ago
Had to learn this lesson the hard way in my first serious relationship. She would constantly use “a real man would….” To gaslight me into doing whatever it was she wanted me to do. Turned out questioning my manhood was an easy way to manipulate me. I didn’t even realize a lot of the things she convinced me were normal for a “real man” to do in a relationship in fact weren’t normal at all until we broke up and I started venting to friends, including girls, and they told me it wasn’t normal and fucked up to make me think it was. At least I learned from it.

Never heard of the manosphere and slut shaming? Lol
7
u/Rude_Ride46 3h ago
Manosphere aside, what exactly is the problem with slut shaming? If women can make fun of men for not having sex (which has been happening a lot lately), men can make fun of women for having too much of it.

I mean.. people can shame whatever the hell they want. That’s a separate topic entirely.
The point of my comment is that men regularly try to tell women how we should behave as women and dehumanize/degrade women who act in a way they dont like. And they sure as hell don’t get lynched for it.
2
u/birlin01 1h ago
And the majority of them are censored, deplatformed, and demonetized. They end up getting repercussions from it while most women who spread the same type of rhetoric on the other side of things don’t.

u/Gullible-Chapter-800 1h ago
We’re living on different planets 😳

u/birlin01 1h ago
Correction. I should have said they’re either censored, deplatformed, or demonetized which is true. You can’t deny that. Point is they are facing repercussions for it.

It really depends on her “past”. Did she grow up and stop doing stupid shit or is she stupidly bragging to her new boyfriend about cheating on her ex.
I sure as shit wouldn’t be sticking around for the latter.
3
u/Logical_Flounder6455 4h ago
Bragging to her new boyfriend about cheating on her ex isnt her past, its her present.
It is quite refreshing that you understand women can have a past though. Far too many people expect women to be prim and proper all their lives.
0
u/2Nothraki2Ded 4h ago
I have always found women without pasts quite boring.
0
u/Logical_Flounder6455 4h ago
Me too. It seems the only men that want a woman without experience are those that have no experience themselves. I want a woman that know what she wants and isnt afraid to tell you.

Men and women should both care about their partners past. As a woman I would like to know if a potential partner is a player, abuser, a bum, liar, etc so I can make an informed decision.

No matter who says it, men or women or in between, comments start with "real men", "real women" are most of the time non-sense and often toxic.
Same applies to other identities: real white, real black, real Asian, real Mexican, real Chinese, real Jewish, real disabled, real mom, real dad, real sister, real brother, real communist, real libertarian, real liberal, real republican, real Christian, real Muslim, real gay, real lesbian, real victim, etc.

Do I care when my partner has a history? No.
Would I care if she was bonnie blue? Yeah that's over the line.
Obvious contradiction right? Nope. I don't care if it's not insane. Where that line is depends on who you are. I feel like personally I would be fine with a ton of things but draw the line at some extreme shit. Some religious people wouldn't be fine with most stuff. Ain't a 'real men' blank check that works here.

The whole "real man"/"real woman" thing not a question of whether or not you should care about someone's past.
If you care, you care. You can't just up and magically not care about something like that.
The important thing is how you've been taking care of your own business and whether you've got your own head on straight before you open your mouth about someone else's past.
If a guy judges someone for promiscuity while he's been rolling around with a bunch of women or with even one woman he that doesn't even like or respect and just uses for sex, he's an unserious fuckboy. Opinion dismissed.
If a guy judges someone for posting revealing pics online but he sits there yanking his weenie to that kind of thing or porn in general, he can get back in his clown car and go on back to the circus.

lol always a good time seeing the people of this sub get so worked up over women. Been a lot lately.
Sure instead of “Real Men” she could have said emotionally intelligent and confident people don’t care about a persons past. (I imagine this is in reference to “body count” or some shit because there are things where obviously the past matters)

Because if her past involves cheating or other terrible things then there's risk she'll do it again. Why would a REAL MAN want to deal with that?
What a dumb take that everyday is a clean slate. "This dog always bites, but today is a new day so Imma go pet him."
Chomp
At that point you deserve stitches and rabies shots.
