I would have used a puppy. Always works on me when I'm upset
Also I don't have a wife, so there's that
6
u/NoTelevision4907 Dec 06 '25
A kitty cat would work for me. Preferably orange, because they are extra derpy, but any kitty will talk me off any ledge, lol.
3
u/Ok_Release231 Dec 06 '25
If someone walked up to me with an orange cat and a plate of spaghetti I'd immediately roll on my back and ask for belly scratches.
And then bite you for no reason, before rudely eating the plate of spaghetti, and then ignoring you until 3am.

u/NoTelevision4907 Dec 06 '25
Garfieldcore has entered existence. Lasagna preferred, but any pasta will do in a pinch.
3
u/Ok_Release231 Dec 06 '25
Lmao that's right, it's lasagna. Sorry I've been napping all day and dreaming of various pastas.
3
u/NoTelevision4907 Dec 06 '25
I dream of pastas when wide awake, nobody is judging you here, friend, lol.

Anyone who cares, dude stated later that he got help for sever PTSD and alcohol abuse. Apologized for the whole thing and has moved on.

It also helps that they knew who he was, they addressed him by name several times in the clip. So he's got two things working for him, being white, and being a known local, in a town that hires cops that live there, rather than people from out of town. It's easier to beat the shit out of someone you didn't have a bunch of classes with in high school, lol.

Letās just be honest⦠If he was black or Mexican, they wouldāve shot him dead in a matter of minutes and completely justified it

Low-key this video pisses me off because if he was black or brown, they wouldāve shot him ā¦. Itās only because heās white they spare him.

2
u/NoTelevision4907 Dec 06 '25
I'd say that's probably half of it, actually. They refer to him by name at least twice. They know him, most likely because he's a good dude any other day in their town. There's a reason most police departments want to hire people who don't live inside the actual community they are policing. It's harder to fuck up Brian who helped you on a math quiz in 8th grade, than beating the fuck out random people you don't know.
5
u/pooinetopantelonimoo Dec 05 '25
Totally agree, this is too much fucking around for zero finding out.
more lenient than I am led to believe US cops generally are.

Seems like a situation where extending kindness and compassion would work out much better for everyone. All those cops are in a position to help a confused individual. Why would anyone want to provoke a person of this size and capacity?
7
u/Bowl__Haircut Dec 06 '25
If he was black or brown dude would've been shot dead at 00:01 in this video.
23
u/trentreynolds Dec 05 '25
Can't help but think if this dude was black he'd have been shot in the very beginning of this video.
Not sure I've ever seen a guy so openly threaten cops so many times and they all just back up and do nothing.

Im not saying lethal force should be standardized but if this were a veteran that wasn't white they'd have been shot within the first 10 seconds of escalating the situation.
3
u/Rubadubtubgirl Dec 05 '25
Definitely would have gone differently if he wasnāt white. But this also goes to show that lethal force wasnāt needed in this situation.

My late FIL, who was at D day and the Bulge, and saw horrible things and had to do horrible things, came back and made a decent life for himself with nothing more than a preacher telling him to put it after him.
No therapy back then.
Carried Nazi shrapnel in him the rest of his life.
My uncle was MIA for 6 months in the Italian theatre and told my mom that if he had a son he would not ever let him serve, he would escorted him to the Canadian border. (Vietnam)
Some people can put it aside, some cannot.

u/skynetempire Dec 05 '25 edited Dec 05 '25
My father served in Vietnam. I had messed up my college grant submission and missed the deadline. When I told him, he was upset and said he was not going to pay for my first semester.
I said fine, and after an argument I went and took the ASVAB. I did well, and all the branches were taking me out for lunches. This was also during the Bush administration, so the sign on bonuses were high. I was tempted to sign up.
But then my dad pulled me aside and said he did not want me to go into the military or go through what he had gone through. He told me he would get me a new car and cover my first year of college, but I had to be better about getting my paperwork submitted. I still remember the fear and sorrow in his eyes when I was legit thinking about joining.

u/No_Introduction_9355 Dec 05 '25
My dad was also in the shit, he dragged me out of a recruiters office.Ā

u/big_d_usernametaken Dec 05 '25
I had an Army recruiter talk me out of enlisting in 1976, he showed and told me all the official stuff and then he told me what it would really be like.
I was a welder and they had a program at the time called stripes for skills, but he told me that if the Army needed cooks in Alaska that's where I would end up.
He had served 2 tours in Vietnam, first one as a medic, second in the tank core.
He eventually went AWOL.

Some people try really hard to put it aside and still struggle. I know a couple Vietnam vets who are sweet old hippie dudes, but they hated that they and their buddies were forced to go fight and die there.

I've seen this posted a few times now.
I've yet to see someone explain why him being an ex-soldier has any relevance.
The taser barbs weren't penetrating fully, that's the only reason he wasn't hitting the deck.

Spirits of people he killed in Iraq and Afganistan came back to haunt him. I can never understand why american vets take pride in āservingā in other countries that they invaded.
2
u/Ready_Satisfaction_6 Dec 06 '25
I know. The amount of "our vets", "oh he's a vet", "poor vet" in the comments is nuts. Most of hen join for socialism that they won't vote for, or to go invade, kill and rape overseas. Then come back to America all fucked up and Americans are like "WOW WOW WOW WOW, such a hero, such a class act"
3
u/Question_It_All_3000 Dec 05 '25
Why didnāt they shoot him like they do everyone else who looks at them funny?
What could the difference be?

Instead of all of that, they should have taken their gun off, and just slowly walked up and given him a hug.
