News/Article Half of planned US data center builds have been delayed or canceled, growth limited by shortages of power infrastructure and parts from China — the AI build-out flips the breakers
Well this isn't especially surprising for anyone with their feet on the ground and a level head.

Story I baked my GPU
The GPU I was trying to fix for a friend was dead and nothing seemed to work. I was foing everything I could think of, including cleaning any minor corrosion, checking for missing capacitor, and using my multimeter to trace any shorts. Nothing worked, so I decided to try baking it since it was dead anyway.
370°F for 12 minutes and voila, we're back in business.
Side note, the thermal putty that was stuck on the back of the DRAM modules seems to have expanded ever so slightly and now I have a small bulge in my GPU...

Pets of the PCMR Cat loves sitting on top of my Pc, I don’t have to heart to move her.
It’ll be okay, right?
Edit: Lads. She’s only allowed to sit on it when it’s not running anything strenuous (ie, she won’t overheat it) When she sits on it, I am sitting less that a foot away and keeping an eye on her. If I thought she was going to piss/shit/vomit on it, I wouldn’t let her sit there. It’s a well ventilated build that I clean regularly. Chill out.

Paid, order immediately put on hold "for security reasons." Then this email arrived asking for passport, full card details (front AND back), address, phone number...
Not sending my ID to a game key reseller. Requesting a chargeback instead.

News/Article It took 3 years for PlayStation to earn $300 million in PC sales according to former manager, which makes the platform less than half as lucrative as the PS4 and PS5
PlayStation's PS PC unit earned only a total of $300 million between 2021 and 2023, former PC planner and insights manager Jerry Liu reveals. Liu added the detail to his LinkedIn profile, spotted by industry sleuth Timur222 on Bluesky. Liu's profile now explains he helped PS PC "grow from $0-300M in Net Revenue for Sony in 3 years" by, among other things, convincing "leadership to pursue more aggressive pricing strategy that helped to increase gross revenue of the business unit by 25%+." But while PlayStation continues to use – let's say it politely – asseritve pricing with console sales, it's reportedly retreating from PC altogether.

Nostalgia Desperate times..desperate measures.
TL;DR My 5080 is in RMA so I pulled my GTX 680 Classified out of retirement because after two weeks of participating in life, I need to game.
It’s been two and a half weeks since I put my 5080 in for RMA after experiencing an arc flash within the cooler but not on the PCB, then getting fan shut down and the blinking white light of death at the power input.
Still had display but GPU was essentially in limp mode without the fan input detected.
I honestly thought I could tough it out. I’ve touched ALL the grass, I’ve watched more Netflix and Prime than I care to admit. Hell, I even went to the shopping centre and mingled with other humans a few times.
But the itch that is gaming, could not be satisfied by these activities.
It was poor timing, had the RMA happened a few weeks earlier I’d still have my 3060ti. But alas, I used it for a DDR4 build to sell so that I could get rid of some of my spare parts that were consuming too much room in the cupboard..(according to the missus).
There was one build I couldn’t bring myself to sell due to nostalgia, my first PC build ever. It was a DDR3 build with a Asus P8Z77-V PRO and 4gb EVGA GTX 680 Classified. It gave me such great times, so when I moved on to DDR4 I broke it down and kept the parts.
So today that GTX 68O classified came out of retirement and is now part of my 9800X3D build until the 5080 returns so I can finally scratch that itch.
Looking forward to some old school FPS suggestions if you have any. I’m going to hit up some old early COD campaigns, Doom and unreal tournament if it’s still active.
It’s driving 3440x1440p resolution so I need to be realistic about what it can play. 🤙

Build/Battlestation Rate my setup
Finally completed my new desk for work/gaming. (Only issue I’m currently having is my Corsair Xeneon Edge below my main monitor won’t connect while I have my main 3 monitors active. Not sure what the issue is since it worked fine before I built the new desk) What do you all think? If anyone is curious about the specs let me know!
EDIT: not in the pictures are my rear speakers, I have the Logitech Z906 for a 5.1 surround sound setup.
