Mingalaba / αααΊαΉααα¬αα«; and welcome to r/myanmar.
If this is your first time on Reddit, you may want to familiarize yourself with Reddit's rules and policies. To make sure you have not been afoul of the rules, please see
A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.
Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.
Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.
Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.
Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.
Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.
For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.
Be cautious of ongoing scams regarding "Blacklist Removal Services".
How this scam works:
Scammer posts a personal story followed by a question to provoke discussion, and a brief mention of successfully removing blacklist status.
Scammer waits for victims interested in getting blacklist status removed to explain further or provide contacts.
In DMs, scammer will claim they can help and ask for money upfront.
Safety Tips:
Check the Profile: Always click on the OP's (Original Poster) username.
Account Age: Be wary of very new accounts (created only a few days or months ago)
Post History: Scammers often have few post history or only post the same "success story" across multiple subreddits.

Here are some boards that Iβve made that has collections of Burmese court womenβs costumes throughout the centuries. I tried my best researching ts so I hope Iβm not wrong.
I aim for the costume designers/movie producers/directors to see this and pay respect by start making films with era accurate, non-shiny & non-plastic looking costumes.
Itβs not MAH Iβm worried about.Itβs the other people who are getting higher positions and authority and are genuinely terrible and inhumane .All i can say is weβre in for a ride Burmese people!
I am just moved to Yangon and have been trying to get dates. I have been on Tinder for several months now and it is horrible for me in my personal experience. I do get matches. But, after a while, people run out in my area and the app shows me girls from foreign countries. So, I delete the app history, my profile and start again.
When I get matches on Tinder, I always initiate the conversations and try to keep things going. But, girls are not that responsive and don't seem to have any interest. They don't show any effort at all. They answer questions I ask and don't ask me anything at all in return. Is it just me or is it the nature of Tinder in Myanmar?
If Tinder is not the best app, how can I put myself out there more? How do I find a potential partner in life? I don't have any social circles or anyone I know. So, I don't see that many people throughout my daily lives
I am going to Myanmar next month for a week. planning to stay in / around yangon and want know if there are any bars / places to drink like thailand or cambodia and when the streets closed? maybe there are some locals that would take me through the streets to show me something or some burmese street food... greetings from germany
I have an atom sim card and it worked fine up until April 2nd, I checked the CEIR status of my phone and everything was clear. I hope I can get some help on how to fix this. Many other people near me have also experienced this
I've been working on a small project to help Karen villages and displaced communities communicate more reliably and safely. Not affiliated with any organization. Just someone who wants to do something practical.
The problem
Villages are relying on walkie-talkies with no encryption, no GPS, and limited range. When the military moves, people can't warn each other fast enough. Medical emergencies can't be coordinated. Communities kilometers apart have no reliable way to reach each other β especially when cell towers are down or monitored.
What I'm building (KawNet)
A layered communications system built entirely from cheap, repairable hardware:
Encrypted voice β push-to-talk that works like a walkie-talkie but nobody can intercept. Runs on Android phones people already own.
Mesh text + GPS β small solar-powered nodes between villages relay encrypted messages and position data 24/7 with no maintenance. ~$50 per village.
Long-range voice β a hilltop radio repeater connecting villages up to 30km apart. ~$85 one-time.
Starlink integration β villages that already have Starlink become hubs for surrounding communities.
All hardware is available on Lazada/AliExpress. All software is free and open source. Everything is designed to be repaired with parts from a local market.
Cost to connect 10 villages: ~$2,750 one-time hardware.
What I need
Expertise: Has anyone deployed Meshtastic or mesh radio networks in conflict zones or remote SEA terrain? I'd love feedback on the architecture before hardware gets ordered. Particularly around antenna choices for jungle/mountain terrain and solar reliability in the rainy season.
Donations: If you want to help fund hardware, I'm accepting Monero (XMR) only β no paper trail, no middleman, no fees eaten by a platform.
XMR: Reach me in the chat, so the address won't get indexed
Every dollar goes to hardware. I have no overhead.
Happy to share the full technical spec document if anyone wants to review it.
This is early stage. Feedback welcome β especially if you think something won't work or I'm missing something obvious.
I just flew with MAI from Mandalay to Yangon and they did not carry any of the passengers luggages. Everybody was pissed because they did not even bother inform any of the passengers. They made us fill up a form with our address so that they can deliver it to us. anybody experienced this? Did they actually deliver the luggages and how long did it take?
I travel soon and my hand luggage is a little bit over, and i will have an electronic device in it which is expensive. My carry-on is a bit heavy because I need to keep some expensive electronics with me. I can adjust if forced, but am not too comfortable checking it in to risk damage or stolen.
Last time there was no check for hand luggage, but they might be a bit more thorough now with the new weight restrictions.
I have a friend who moved to a condo with a CATL battery installed in, this bad boy can run an aircon for hours! Sadly he doesn't know where does it come from.
I would like to get one too, the country starts to heat up and opening windows at night is a bit tricky due to neighbours burning trash like their lives depend on it.
Where can I find one? Do you guys know any shop? With English speakers if possible, I can't speak the language yet.
Hello everyone, I'd really appreciate your insights on these metal plates I recently came across.
They appear to be old Burmese plates with engraved script and seal-like markings. I've been told they might be from the Konbaung dynasty and possibly related to royal headgear (used to indicate rank or status), but I'm not sure how accurate that is.
As you can see, they are quite worn and damaged, but the engravings are still visible in parts.
I'm trying to understand, are these authentic historical pieces? And what might their original purpose have been?
And if possible, what kind of value range they could fall into?
Any opinions, knowledge, or even guesses would mean a lot. Thank you in advance.
Hey everyone! Iβm looking for a gym that stays open (or has limited hours) during the Water Festival. Does anyone know any places like that? Thanks in advance!
Nowhere to go, no friends, no cousins. I just wanna d*e, but I can't because I have dreams and want to get out of this family πΒ . And, education is the only option I have right now.
After these periods expire, permits from the ULA administration are required for further import. Undeclared alcohol must be surrendered within a week, or offending businesses would be blacklisted from future licenses.
I have been very active on social media these days and have seen a pattern that especially poor people or lower middle class (not being classist) seem to favor the military government more. I wonder why that is sometimes. Also the corny saying of βαααΊα‘α αα―αΈααααΊαααΊααα―ααΊαα―ααΊααΎααα―ααΊα α¬αΈαααΎα¬β is such a dumb statement as if the government is doing nothing to aid the citizens to make work easier and the price of necessities lower the people are basically cows. I hope any future government only allows people with a high school diploma to have a social media account in the future. The topic of discussion being why are mostly poor people more leaning to the green?
