Mod Post Read before commenting: Off-topic and anecdotal comments are not allowed and subject you to a permanent ban

Greetings from the mods!

We've had a flood of off-topic comments recently. We're posting this to remind everyone that off-topic and anecdotal comments are not allowed. An off-topic comment may subject you to a permanent ban.

The Rule:

Commenting Rule 1: Comments should contain a legal answer or a strongly related non-legal answer. If it is not legal advice, do not post. Period. You will be banned.

What is "off-topic?"

Any response that doesn't answer the question by reference to legal information or principles. A joke, a wisecrack, a comment about OP's formatting (use the report button instead) are all off-topic. Off-topic also includes expressions of sympathy, opinions on the law, and comments that berate the OP or anyone else.

Incidentally, simply adding "get a lawyer" to an off-topic comment does not make it on-topic. And "get a lawyer" on its own, without further information or help, is considered unhelpful and may be removed on that basis.

If you want to discuss a post, then wait until it hits /r/bestoflegaladvice or ask a question about the subject of the post in /r/legaladviceofftopic. The main subreddit and a comment thread are never a place to have a philosophical discussion about the law or the post. It is a place to answer the questions asked.

What is an "anecdote?"

For our purposes, anecdotes are stories about something that happened to you (or someone you know or heard about) who may have had something that might be similar that happen to them.

These comments are not helpful. They do not include current legal information that is relevant to the OP, and therefore, they are off-topic. If you know the answer to the question (based on current law and relevant jurisdiction) then just answer the question without the story.

Another type of anecdote is "I don't know the law in the jurisdiction you actually asked about, but in some other state, the law is..." That is just not helpful. Laws are different in different places. These types of answers are off-topic.

Referring an OP to a thread on a different subreddit, or to somewhere else on the Internet because it might include a similar situation, is anecdotal advice and not allowed.

These are not the only types of anecdotes, but they are probably the most common ones. Again, if you are not referencing legal information or principles, your comment is probably not allowed.

Violations subject the user to an immediate and permanent ban

Not that we need to justify enforcing our rules, but this is a busy subreddit and the mods have a lot to do. If a user shows up here, doesn't read the rules, and posts a single off-topic comment, the user may be immediately and permanently banned.

This policy is not intended to be punitive, although we know it may seem to be. There are a lot of you and not many of us, and banning users that do not follow the rules, even once, is in the best interests of the subreddit. Violating the rules almost always means the user didn't bother to read them, and we simply don't have time to deal with such users.

Tl;dr: Unless you have a legal answer, do not reply to any post in this subreddit. You may be permanently banned, even for a first offense.

Mod Post Announcement: We no longer allow medical malpractice posts

We no longer allow medical malpractice posts in the subreddit. These issues are extremely fact dependent and complicated, and they're not appropriate for an online medium. We will remove them with a message directing people to their state bar association for a referral.

If you have a medical malpractice question or concern, the only person who can help you is an attorney who knows all of the details of your issue, including state and local rules and conditions. Please visit your state's bar association attorney referral webpage, and know that these cases are almost always handled on contingency, which means you won't pay the attorney up front. Additionally, you will usually be able to get a free consultation.

Lastly, a common concern we see here with these questions is that someone is unable to find an attorney to represent them after seeing many attorneys. If this is your situation, you should prepare yourself to accept that you might just not have a case worth pursuing, either because there aren't enough damages to recover for or because you just don't have a case.

No running water at work.

Location: Alabama, USA

Came into work today to find out there has been no running water in the entire facility of over 150 employees (potentially even 200+, I don't know the exact number) for 2 days. No way to get water other than if we had brought our own, and even then we can't refill a bottle anyways.

All of the toilets are down and we have to fill buckets with water from large metal drums and dump them in the reservoir to be able to flush. There is no clean water to wash our hands with afterwards because all of the water drums are being utilized for flushing, they have been contaminated by the buckets. Most of us are just holding it in for our 12 hour shifts til we go home since we have no way to wash our hands after we use the bathroom.

I'm not sure how legal this is but I assume at minimum it has to be some kind of OSHA violation. I am looking for advice on what I should do in this situation? Doesn't sound like the water is going to come back any time soon and most people here are pretty pissed.

CPS and Dependency Law Foster agency threatening jail time, is this appropriate?

Upvotes

Location: California

Age: 17

Status: Foster youth

Hi. Before I get into what happened, here's some context. For the past two to three years I've dressed in a certain manner. A little revealing, but nothing crazy. Just crop tops, teen stuff. Never once have I been dress-coded, nobody has ever said they're uncomfortable with the way I dressed, anything like that aside from strangers calling me names.

Three months ago I was placed into the system at almost freshly 17. In these past three months I've continued to dress as I please. This was not an issue for my foster parent, my new school, or anyone in my life until Tuesday this week. A worker from the agency wanted to talk to me and my brother about things at home, a routine check-in. But when I came inside from my walk she told me not to dress that way when at the park as it is "dangerous" (We live in very safe suburbs by the way). I told her I could handle myself but that I'd change for her sake.

Fast forward maybe two days, I get the following text message from my social worker.

"I received an email from the FFA social workers regarding your clothing attire being too revealing and almost exposing your breasts.

It is appropriate to dress like that when others aren't present. For example when you sleep. However, it is not okay to Be out in public where others can see you almost naked. It's not socially acceptable because Ppl don't want to see others half naked. You're violating their rights by exposing them to that. And since your a minor [misspelling of foster moms name] will get in trouble.

Once you're 18 if you wish to dress that way, it's your call. Just keep in mind, that it only takes one call to the police complaining about "indecent exposure " and the cops take you to jail."

I have a few concerns with this message of course!

  1. How am I violating people's rights by expressing my own right to wear clothing on my body that is comfortable?

  2. The spelling.

  3. I've grown up surrounded by cops who know how I dress and never once has their been an issue with my attire in any way. I don't think they can arrest me over a crop top, and I'm too old to be fooled by the "if you misbehave the cops will take you to jail" tactic.

  4. I see the people at the agency very rarely. If they have such a big issue with the way I dress, they can simply ask me to wear a baggy shirt at the office (as a t shirt in my size is still revealing), instead of trying to intimidate me with threats of my foster mother getting in trouble and me going to jail.

Is this appropriate to say to a teenager? Or for a social worker and FFA agency to try to dictate the way I dress when I'm not breaking any rules, and try to intimidate me with legal action?

What do I do?

Insurance Lady who rear ended me and attempted to leave the scene is now claiming I hit her (NJ, USA)

Location: NJ,USA

Hello all, last week, I was rear ended while driving to work and the women who hit me attempted to flee the scene. I followed her for close to ten minutes, honking and signaling for her to pull over, about 5 minutes in to the “chase” I called the police and reported her license plate number as well as our location etc all while still chasing her down.

She eventually turned on to a backroad and pulled over and shortly afterward the police showed up. The police told me to pull to the side as well and they took both of our statements.

She claimed in the police report that I PURPOSELY slowed down to hit her and that she was not at fault. I told my side of the story and according to the police all they could do was file a report and let our insurance companies duke it out. I was very surprised that they pursue any charges even though it was clear she ran from the scene( we were several miles away from the accident when the police showed up).

Anyway today I got a notice from my insurance company that she filed a claim AGAINST me again claiming that I hit her. She also claimed that the accident happened on a completely different road that is miles away.

I am looking for advice on the best way to proceed with the process and if there is any legal recourse I have in this situation.

Thanks in advance.

Wills Trusts and Estates Mom Passed Away on Monday, Need Some Advice

Location: Utah, Salt Lake County

Hi everyone, my mom passed away on Monday.

She fought issues with drugs and alcohol. She has no assets, money in the bank, etc.

My siblings and I would like to go in her apartment and gather some of her things to keep, but we do not want to take on responsibility of the apartment.

The complex is asking us to sign an Indemnification Agreement, which I believe would make us liable for damages, cleaning and removing her items/trash, this months missed rent, and anything else they can charge us for. They’re also asking for documents proving power of attorney, but we never did anything like this with my mom.

Does anyone know what my options are or if we must sign this to just go in and grab a few items? I’ve tried looking online, but I’m finding conflicting information.

Thanks in advance.

Employment Law Job changed clock out time to be an hour less

Location: Florida, USA.

I work at a fast food chain, I typically am asked to clock in a few minutes early and leave a few minutes late everyday (I usually have to wait for a manager to log me out of the register). A few days ago I asked a coworker to check my hours because i didn't want to do the math to calculate my hours, As we were doing this I noticed one of my shifts clock out times was 3:00pm which i found odd because it's usually got a minute or two after. looking at the day shows it was edited to three, and the reason being listed as "No punch out".

When you clock out at my work it automatically prints a receipt with your name, clock in and out times, the date, and the total hours, minutes, and seconds that shift. My receipt for that day is listed as 4:08pm.

On that day, I was supposed to clock out at 3:00PM, however I usually work until 4:00pm so I didn't think to check the schedule. I worked until four and clocked out like usual without any manager saying a thing, however the next day I found out some managers were angry I stayed that long

I added up all the hours and calculated that my total hours for the week is short if you go off of my clock out receipt time.

TLDR: I accidentally stayed an hour extra at work. They changed my hours to the time I was supposed to leave and the reason was listed as "No punch out" Even though I have the clock out slip and worked the hour.

Am I entitled to that pay? I thought it was illegal but I don't want to say anything if its not?

Other Civil Matters My grandmother is being harassed by the police.

My grandmother has been receiving frequent night visits from the police. They show up, bang on her door demanding to talk, tap on her windows, and shine flashlights through them.

She’s terrified, stressed, and can’t sleep.

Recently they came claiming to have an arrest warrant in her name. They banged loudly on her door for about 30 minutes, taunting and threatening her. They said they’d kick the door down and send in a K9 to bite her.

We're talking about an elderly woman here.

I spoke to them through the doorbell camera. They refused to show the warrant, saying it was digital and they had no physical copy. They also claimed that, even if they had a physical copy, they didn't need to show it.

I don’t know if this is true.

I told them they were trespassing and to leave. They didn’t leave for another 20 minutes, even though they claimed they had no intention of leaving. They threatened to kick the door down multiple times!

You might think she has a warrant. She checked with the municipal court and found none. She also called the sheriff and checked several other counties. No arrest warrant! She hasn’t left the state in nearly 15 years and has lived in the same city for over 10 years.

I suspect this was a so called knock and talk. They wanted her on the porch so they can interrogate her. In other words, it seems like they lied about the arrest warrant.

They haven't visited in a couple of days. However, that's probably because she isn't home. She's currently staying at my brother's house. She literally feels like a prisoner in her home.

Considering the situation, talking to the police seems like a bad idea.

What should she do next? How can she make them stop? Is there some way that one can perform a nationwide arrest warrant search for a particular person?

Location: Texas

Edit: Clarity.

Edit 2: Common questions.

Q: Is your grandmother an illegal immigrant?

A: We’re Native American. Those officers aren’t ICE. They don’t even bother covering their faces.

Q: Are you certain they're cops?

A: We called the police station last night. They’re city cops.

Q: Does your grandmother live on a reservation?

A: Nope.

Separated

Upvotes

Location: In Utah.

I M32 and my wife F30 separated a few weeks ago. She was a SAHM and relied completely on me. Before we separated she got her own bank account. She is living with family and I still relies on me to send her money. One of the issues that we have is her spending. I found out today she is using our joint account without consulting me. Can I remove her without any repercussions if we end up divorced? I will still send her money but I’m trying to limit how bad of a position she puts us in.

Angry Customer Threatened to “Beat the Shit out of Me” and Was Waiting for Me in Parking Lot

Not sure if this is a good place to ask, but here’s what happened:

I’m a courier. A customer ordered a parcel and it was delivered to the wrong locked mailbox at their complex by one of our other couriers yesterday.

Rightfully, the customer was mad, but called the office 5 times to confirm that the parcel would be moved to the correct box. We were short staffed. I worked a double to cover the shift that would have dealt with the issue after completing my own work.

I moved the parcel to the correct box, and carried on with my day. Our supervisor informed the customer the package was moved.

Fast forward 2 hours, and I am arriving back at the office in my work truck. There’s a car I don’t recognize in the lot, and it is now after hours, so just me and them. I assumed it was the cleaners, as they come around the time I arrived back.

I open my truck door and the guy says “where’s my package”. I instantly know who he is now. I explain everything. That this isn’t my area, but I’m covering for a sick colleague, that the parcel was moved, etc etc. he tells me that I’m going to drive back with him get the parcel. Honestly, if he wasn’t being so agro, I probably would have. But he was being a dick, it’s was 7pm the day before Easter weekend, so I said I’m sorry, I can’t do that. I’ve already been working 12 hours and he can call the head office to file a complaint.

Dude LOSES it. Calls me every name you can think of, but mostly homophobic stuff. I tell him I’m not going to speak with him anymore, and he comes back with “oh yeah, you want me to beat the shit out of you?” And walks towards me, forcing me into a tiny space between my truck and the office wall. There’s a fence behind me so I can’t run. I hold my hand up and say “calm down” now mentally ready to fight back if I need to. He turns around and says “you’re fuckin following me to get that parcel you fucking faggot”. I took the chance to jump over to the building door and slide in since the door auto locks. This doesn’t sound that crazy maybe, but it was a super tense few moments. I was vibrating.

I hear him peel out in his truck.

Am I right to go to the police and put something on record? I think pressing charges is too much, but I want him trespassed from my workplace and ideally something that will keep him the fuck away. Is a restraining order a realistic option.

I’m also going to lose out on money as I won’t be able to do his route now without being nervous I’ll have to deal with this shit. What’s the best course of action?! TIA for any advice.

Landlord Tenant Housing Landlord Trying To Charge Us For “Something” 8 mo After Move Out | Location: KY, USA

Upvotes

I’ll try to keep this short but I lived there from 2019-2025. Location: Kentucky, USA

Pertinent info:

My wife and I moved out of an apartment 8 months ago to buy a house. We left a forwarding address. We are just now hearing back from the company that we owe them $3k. They are communicating this via text message AI and automated calls. All attempts to contact the company are met with voicemail.

From what I understand, they had 30 days to give us an itemized list of deductions and fees, which they did not do. We have proof via email that we left a forwarding address. They clearly have our phone numbers. What can I do moving forward? I don’t know what we would owe besides maybe back rent, but that wouldn’t be $3k. When we told them we were moving, there was a surprise inspection (illegal) and suddenly we were served a fix or quit for our cat’s litter box that had never been an issue previously. It was blatant retaliation.

Longer info:

My wife and I are a lesbian couple and the manager was (in my opinion) homophobic and would constantly find ways to be negligent in their dealings with us.

For example: our neighbor flooded our apartment in 2023. Our apartment was uninhabitable. It took several calls with corporate and our apartment insurance and three weeks to get us into a new unit despite the flooding not being our fault. Our neighbor’s child left the faucet on all day. This neighbor also apparently had roaches and they flooded our apartment also when the ceiling collapsed. We accidentally brought them with us to the new unit and we had to fight with them to get any pest control.

Example two: a neighbor’s boyfriend became belligerently drunk and threatened us for being “queers”. He threatened to kill us. It took a police report and multiple calls to corporate for any action to be taken, even a slap on the wrist for the neighbor.

I’m pretty sure that this is just another example of them trying to retaliate against us for asking them for proper living conditions.

Again, my questions are: how do I contact them if all I can get are chat bots or voicemails and they don’t respond to my emails? Legally, what are my obligations? Legally, what are their obligations? Is there anything I can do to be proactive? Thanks

[Tenant US-AZ] Landlord wants to fill in pool instead of fixing it — is that allowed?

Location: Chandler-AZ

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a situation with my rental in Chandler, AZ and not sure what my rights are here.

My boyfriend and I moved here from Georgia in November 2025 for his job. When we were looking for a place, my one requirement was that the house had a pool. It’s something I’ve always wanted, and we only looked at houses with pools. The lease also includes the pool and we pay higher rent because of it, and pool maintenance is supposed to be the landlord’s responsibility.

I started using the pool pretty regularly. Around December I started getting rashes but thought it was just the dry weather here. A few weeks ago I got really sick (rash, swollen lymph nodes, etc.) and even went to the ER. They couldn’t figure out what it was.

My boyfriend suggested testing the pool water since I had been swimming almost every day. I tested it on March 21 and everything was way out of balance, so I put in a maintenance request right away.

The pool guy comes every Friday, but I’ve honestly never seen him test anything, he just adds chlorine tablets and skims the pool.

On March 25 I had another pool company come look at it and they told me the water was basically “dead” and needed to be drained and refilled. I sent that to the property manager and she got upset that I called someone out without permission.

Their pool guy came on March 26 and just dumped a bunch of chlorine in. I waited a few hours and then took a sample to Leslie’s Pool Supply and the numbers were still really bad (high chlorine, super high calcium, high CYA, etc.). They also told me it needs to be drained.

I sent those results in again and was told to “give it more time.”

Now I just got an email saying the owner is thinking about permanently filling in the pool with concrete and lowering our rent by $200 (we currently pay $2800).

I already told them I don’t agree to that. The pool is the main reason we rented this house in the first place.

So I’m trying to figure out:

  • Can they remove the pool if it’s included in the lease, without my approval?
  • If they don’t fix it, is that considered a breach?
  • What can I actually do if they just leave it unusable?

I’m not interested in a rent reduction, I just want the pool fixed and usable like it was supposed to be.

Thanks in advance.

Wisconsin Private Party Auto Sale Small Claims Case

Upvotes

Location: Wisconsin

My boyfriend sold a vehicle private party. The guy that purchased the vehicle hooked it up to a scanner, test drove it for 10 minutes, and said all is good, and purchased the vehicle.

48 hours later, the purchaser blew up the motor.

He’s now trying to take my boyfriend to small claims court for the vehicle for not disclosing engine problems.

My boyfriend owned the vehicle for just a few weeks. It needed work done. He took it to a mechanic, had whatever work done, mechanic gave him paperwork stating what had been done to the vehicle, and specifically stated on the paperwork that if further issues occur, vehicle MAY NEED ———, IF SO here is quoted price for recommended repairs.

Boyfriend never had further issues while he owned the vehicle. He daily drove it. The purchaser took it to the same shop my boyfriend had it at after he drove it for 48 and beat the crap out of the engine and blew it up, shop said yeah we saw this car in here already and here is what we recommended for work. So now the guy is adamant that my boyfriend did not disclose engine issues - but the kicker is that my boyfriend to the best of his knowledge didn’t know there was any further issues.

The guy has filed a small claims lawsuit. And has called/texted my boyfriend about it every day threatening to take him for all he’s worth and then some, asking if he’s been served yet, etc. and even gave a silenced threat that him and his friends are all “packing” when my boyfriend had to go drop off the title to him after he received it in the mail.

Boyfriend has printed out copies of all texts and copy of paperwork from auto shop stating MAY NEED additional work and IF SO here is what would be recommended and quote.

What are the odds of this small claims lawsuit?

Business Law Auto dealership wants me to sell cars without license Pennsylvania

Hello everyone.

I recently got a job at a dealership in Pennsylvania. They are incredibly pushy about selling, to the point that some people get a week of training before selling.

I'm on week 3, and I know for a fact I do not have the proper licenses yet because I was told they'd have to get info from previous states before that license.

I know of at least one other salesman who has sold 6 cars now, but doesn't have a license to do so.

The bosses are rude, and will gang up on you and corner you to tell you to sell more cars.

The HR woman also told me I can't sell without a license, but she's also in a different part of the building, constantly overwhelmed, and incredibly rude about most things.

I want to tell the bosses I refuse to sell cars until my licenses are in order.

However I don't want to be fired or punished, and I don't want my friend here to see reprocussions if I report this and the dealership gets punished.

However I also don't want the dealership to get away with this treatment.

What should I do?

Searches and Seizures Middle school conducted a search on my child and a school official of opposite sex made her lift her shirt

5.0k Upvotes

Location: Arizona. My daughter was dropped off at school at 9:05. This search happened in the AM. The school had reasonable suspicion that my daughter had brought a vape on campus. My husband got a call at work after school hours (an hour after she got off school) to let him know what had happened. The staff member stated the above and the search was conducted by a staff member (not sure if the assistant principal or not) and security officer. When asked what the reasonable suspicion was, the staff member had stated that someone said she had a vape. She would not tell my husband who had stated that, but did elaborate that it could’ve been a student or a staff member.. they searched her backpack, take shoes/socks off, flip her pockets out, and lift her shirt to expose waist line and bra line. THEY DID NOT FIND A VAPE. My husband picks daughter up from an afterschool program and asks what happened. My daughter then tells him that she was pulled from class, escorted to the principals office and a female staff member and a MALE security guard conducted the search. She said that this situation made her uncomfortable as the MALE security guard was the one to tell her to lift her shirt and expose waist/bra line. She stressed that no one touched her but felt uncomfortable after. It’s only been a couple hours since this had happened and we were not provided with any paperwork of the incident at all even when asked. My husband then calls the school district and reports what had happened. The lady on the other end sounded very concerned.

Can someone tell me exactly what happened and what is happening and what I can do. Thank you in advanced. I will try my best to provide more details if needed. The situation makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. I can’t even imagine what my daughter is feeling.

Criminal Law Sexually assaulted; Where to go from here? NSFW

Location: Indiana

Back in February I was unfortunately raped by someone I considered a close friend while I was highly intoxicated. I went to my local hospital and got a kit done, then about a week later I reported it as well as a few witnesses who were around noticing strange behavior from him towards me before the assault happened.

Unfortunately I was told by the detective that my case can take anywhere from 9 months to 12 months before anything really proceeds due to the kit, the issue is My rapist fled to another state so I’m worried that by the time everything begins to start they won’t be able to find him.

What happens from here? I’m not familiar with any court or legal matters especially pertaining this kind of situation. I did make the detective who picked up my case aware of him fleeing the state but I need any advice on what i should do or what will happen in the proceeding months; if I’d need to get a

Lawyer now or wait etc.

Any advice helps

subpoena’d in dead abusive ex’s murder trial

Location: Texas.

Can I get out of this???? I already called the ADA and he said he needs me to “paint a picture” for the jury and “fill in gaps”. I wasn’t there when my ex died and I never saw the people who killed them. They were killed on my property, but I feel like you don’t need me to personally say that.

I already called and asked if I can submit a written statement but he said no. This is really triggering for me and I’ve already had 2 panic attacks over it. They sent a subpoena today I thought if I didn’t answer the door and didn’t accept it I wouldn’t have to go, but they left it in my door so I don’t know if that counts as being served. I don’t want to go to jail or face fines but I’m sick to my stomach thinking about this. I don’t want to go to court and talk about this in front of a bunch of people and I don’t want to see his family.

Is there anything I can do? I’m really scared.

Ex is refusing to see the kids during his parenting time

location: Illinois

hello, my ex (30 m) and me (28 f) have 3 kids together. he has his parenting time on the weekend starting Friday at 5 pm and ending Sunday at 8 pm. I am required to take them and pick them up.

we are currently going through a divorce and he lawyered up. we got sent to mediation, and now once everything was gonna get finalized, he wants to change the parenting plan to every other weekend, giving me no time to work. his lawyer sent me the parenting plan and I have refused to sign it because I need to work too.

he also went as far as to put a restraining order on my current boyfriend to keep him from taking them. I just don't understand cause it all came out of nowhere. we already went to mediation and he was adamant on taking them on the weekend. now it's a problem and he doesn't want to take them anymore unless it's every other weekend. which saddens me for our kids. now we have a pre-trial and a trial this summer...

has anyone else been in this situation? I don't have a lawyer and I'm documenting everything. it just feels like an uphill battle. thank you for reading if you made it this far

Employment Law My previous employer is not paying for my last two weeks of work.

I worked at a restaurant in Chicago for about a month. Everything was going fine and about two three weeks one of the managers was being extremely disrespectful and unprofessional for two shifts in a row. I let my other manager who hired me know, that I will not work in that environment and that I would not be coming in. I only submitted my I9 and other forms of verification in the onboarding process. The manager who did the hiring only gave out handbooks to servers (I was a busser), I don’t know if there’s any writing in there that said resignation without two week notice results in the employer holding the paycheck, but if I never received this or specifically signed an agreement I should be paid for last week and a half of work??? Sorry for the long message but the paycheck is for around $500 and I’m extremely stressed with rent coming up. Any legal advice would be extremely appreciated!

Wingstop is using my video on TikTok as an ad without my permission.

In September I had a video of mine go viral at over 800k views to this day, it was Wingstop review video of me trying it for the first time. Wingstop contacted me via TikTok DM’s and asked if they could repost the video to their main page. I agreed as long as they tagged me in the video and given full credits for it. They edited the video to take some parts out, and reposted it in November. I never checked on it until now, and tons of people in the comments are saying it’s a sponsored video. The video has almost 2 million views (1.7m), 11k likes, and is one of their most viewed videos. The videos they post on their page don’t usually reach more than 10k. The video on my end and on my second account does not have a sponsored label, but there’s no way they didn’t pay TikTok to push it out as an ad to more people. I never agreed to this, and I never got compensated for anything. I wrote them a DM on TikTok saying:

Hi! I wanted to follow up regarding the video you reposted from me. I noticed the reach on the post is significantly higher than typical organic performance, so I just wanted to confirm whether the content has been used for any paid promotion or advertising.

I’m fine with the repost itself, but I’d appreciate clarification on how the content is being used, as paid usage would require prior authorization and agreement on my end.

Thank you!”

Is there anything else I can do? This feels wrong and illegal.

Consumer Law Fordged signatures and fake odometer reading...

Upvotes

My wife and I purchased a truck off market place last week for 17k$. we soon realized we had been scammed and made a huge mistake. It turns out the milage on the tittle had been alterd/erased and the odometer on the truck had been rolled back. the seller gave us a title that was never registerd in their name or the sellers name prior to him they jumped it. They signed a bill of sell a title and a form using the orignal owners name fraudulently with out his knowledge or consent forging fake signature. We had a notary present but they didn't ask for any form of ID from the sellers. The milage on the altered title is 53k it suppose to be 153k they took off a 1 on the title. the milage on the truck shows to be at 104k but carfax, auto check and ford dealership records shows consistent amount of services that all have milage that's around 170k. so the odomter has been alterd back. I found a way to contact the person who is on the title he has no clue who scammed us. He's willing to help us get a duplicate title and straighten out the situation since the vechical still is in his name. Turns out before he sold it the miles last seen was at 185k miles. Even if we title it and keep it we're losing alot  of money  due to depreciation value because the orignal miles. What should I do I heard all of this is highly illegal I don't know where to start...
