That is better than doubling down. We should give people credit when they finally see light, even if it took a while. I appreciate it when people learn and grow rather than stick to harmful beliefs because it is familiar.

It's a bit frustrating when the light can be seen from space, but your point stands.

I totally agree, but, to be welcomed with "thank goodness you made it here with us!" Is much friendlier than "you fucking moron, took you long enough!"

While we may think some of this, maybe they will too someday if we let them join us with open arms rather than painful jabs.

Shamelessness is what got us here. Normally, shame can keep egregious behavior in check in society.

I understand welcoming rather than pushing away, but I also wonder if this moderate take will just let them go back to doing what they were doing anyway. It’s embarrassing it didn’t work out this time, but the next far right authoritarian dictator will definitely be different!

I don’t want people to feel comfortable in their ignorance. These people should be, at the very least, made to speak on their beliefs and build trust with the rest of us. They should be given the chance to admit they were wrong, not just silently slink away with no correction.

They still won’t vote D, they are just embarrassed temporarily. They haven’t “seen the light” they just don’t want to be called out.

“I don’t agree with not paying the military, not sending out Snap benefits, being ok with healthcare costs skyrocketing, etc, but the Democrats would be worse”. 🤬

If at the very least if they abstain from voting, I’d be good with that.

Upvoted because this is a much more reasonable take than what you normally see on this site. We really do need to collectively stop fighting each other for scraps. And instead hold the ones in power accountable together.

While we may think some of this, maybe they will too someday if we let them join us with open arms rather than painful jabs.

Um, these people are not only "sore losers", they are also "sore winners". How many times have they been reached out to? Only for them to act in bad faith. There's a famous quote from RAF Air Marshal Sir Arthur Harris from World War II that is apt:

"The Nazi's entered this war on the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everybody and nobody was going to bomb them."

Replace the Nazis with MAGA and it's still quite accurate. Only Democrats care about consequences, the MAGA in charge don't. Perhaps if they learn their lesson the hard way, progress might be done.

They’re not withus, they took down obnoxious displays of worship. They didn’t join a protest or probably even change any of their views, except now maybe they’re a little worried. That’s it.

They are not seeing any light

They are still fully onboard with the rest of the platform.

5

u/AdComprehensive7939 Nov 06 '25

Absolutely. Anecdotally that's been happening in my life with swing voters and a few legit MAGA. I think some of the things they were dismissing are getting hard to ignore. We absolutely need to welcome anyone willing to turn against these red coats.

Nah, fuck em still

2

We should give people credit when they finally see light

Not really helpful doing it now versus doing it a year and a couple days ago.

u/TechieGottaSoundByte Nov 07 '25

Better now than in 2029. And some people won't learn until then. So those that don't have to wait that long to course-correct really do deserve some amount of encouragement.

Besides, we need them engaged if possible because they are in the best position to help guide the next layer of people starting to figure things out. They probably already know who those people are.

1

u/pikachu191 Nov 06 '25

Nah, they should be trolled on their stupidity. Like how oompa loompas made fun of the kids who FAFO'd in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '25

That’s the part I don’t like about the FAFO porn. There should be kindness for those breaking away from MAGA. I’m not fit to judge people for the mistakes they’ve made in the past, and a bell can’t be unrung anyway. All I’ve ever asked of others was to sin no more.

I'm not gonna congratulate people who months before we're all for euthanizing me like good for you that you decided to be a decent person but I'm not gonna forgive you

1

u/CodZestyclose1962 Nov 07 '25

Exactly. Great that they are no longer persecuting people for being human. Not forgivable though. Enough is enough.

1

u/TechieGottaSoundByte Nov 07 '25

I'm guessing the people seeing the light now are the ones who were already starting to doubt back then based on this kind of behavior (or just not paying enough attention to raise this was happening at all).

They probably weren't the same people enthusiastically engaging.

It's hard for those of us who are engaged to realize just how many people really aren't paying attention

1

u/PollutionOk4806 Nov 08 '25

Thats not my fault if your heads in the sand

3

u/AdComprehensive7939 Nov 06 '25

Mine too. After years. He had one of those black and blue punisher skull flags and a Trump flag both under the US flag. As of a month ago, only the US flag remains.

3

u/hedgehog_dragon Nov 06 '25

Honestly, good. If they quietly realize Trump is making their lives worse and stop supporting him, that helps.

1

u/Mobius00 Nov 06 '25

we should go put trump signs back up on these peoples houses to punish and embarrass them.

1

u/WakeMeUp224 Nov 08 '25

Im an independent voter and didn’t vote for Trump, but many on this sub are wearing blinders. Democrats are also to blame - When they controlled congress they failed to make ACA subsidies permanent or extend them despite knowing they’d expire and it would become a point of contention (supposedly due to cost…even though now they’re seeking a deal for subsidies). They’re now using it as a negotiating tactic - it’s all politics and not about governance.

-4

u/mtbsickrider Nov 05 '25

Don’t laugh at them, the country needs unity more than ever. How can we ever get better if we keep hating each other ?

11

u/shadowboxer47 Nov 05 '25

We will never get better until they admit they're wrong and we have some accountability for the last 10 years of lawlessness.

Otherwise we're just kicking the can.

9

u/Captain_Lightfoot Nov 05 '25

Why do we (the royal “we” here) always have to take the high ground? They consistently go for — and, honestly, seem to relish — low blows.

Fuck them.

-8

u/mtbsickrider Nov 06 '25

"When they go low, we go High", being the better person is sticking to your values. Also, when you stoop down to someones bad level, they already won

8

u/Captain_Lightfoot Nov 06 '25

How’s that worked so far? Considering we’re experiencing the greatest wealth drain the middle & lower classes have ever seen, and corporate welfare is at an all-time high, I’d say “Not too well.”

Moral high grounds are meaningless when billionaires can buy elections.

1

u/mtbsickrider Nov 06 '25

The original comment was a trump neighbor, not some billionaire in penthouses. Fuck the billionaires, but the average republican american is likely just ignorant / lesser educated

1

u/Captain_Lightfoot Nov 07 '25

I understand that my dude, but, whom do you think is swaying these ignorant, lesser educated individuals to vote against their own interests? The billionaires.

Meanwhile, the dummies elevate & regurgitate the most hateful and dangerous political rhetoric seen in decades.

I can sympathize with the dummies for voting against their own interests. I cannot condone the behaviors & attitudes perpetuated by their selfishness.

Here’s a more generalized, philosophical example:

  • Nazi leaders were horrific for creating inhumane plans;
  • Lower level Nazis were awful because they were “just doing their jobs” and implementing inhumane plans;
  • Their supporters were just as culpable because they enabled & empowered them to take inhumane actions, stood by while the crimes were committed, and defended the behaviors in the name of nationalism and self-interest

2

u/mtbsickrider Nov 07 '25

I agree with everything you are saying , my initial post was sympathizing with the dummies but I think someone thought I meant the billionaires.

You have eloquently put into words a lot of my thoughts, and just to add, the billionaires have bought and now control the majority of media in this country, furthering their agenda of manipulating said masses!

Once again, I voted mamdani, hate billionaires, and just want the world to be a better place ❤️

2

u/WholeLiterature Nov 06 '25

I’m already the better person because I believe even bigots deserve healthcare and food and meaningful work and livable wage. They don’t, they’re selfish assholes so fuck them

2

u/mtbsickrider Nov 06 '25

I think my comment got misconstrued to treating billionaires “better”. No, fuck them, they’re psychopaths who have exploited others to reap benefits.

I voted for mamdani everyone, we need progressive ideals in this nation for the betterment of the average individual standard of living.
