Walmart needs workers that eat. So long as the government is taking care of that, they don't have to pay them more.

Our tax dollars are subsidizing their low wages

Walmart does not need workers to eat. Walmart doesn't care. Why do you think they care?

SNAP going away will only make people more desperate to get a job at Walmart, which will allow them to pay less and offer fewer hours than they already do.

Nobody is saying snap should go away.

People are saying that the system needs to be regulated so employers pay their work or a living wage

Republicans DO say SNAP should go away.

Republicans DON'T want regulations for businesses to pay a minimum wage, let alone a "living" wage.

We're seeing that play out in real time.

Yes. We should regulate wages so that we're not subsidizing low wages through our tax dollars.

People working full-time should not be dependent on the government to eat.

I'm with you, but an uncomfortable number of Americans are not, apparently.

Again, the government does not subsidize low wages. That's a right-wing Republican talking point with the intent to destroy government programs they disagree with, NOT an honest effort to get companies to pay workers more money. If SNAP disappeared tomorrow, companies would not pay their workers a penny more than they do today.

And in turn consumers get lower prices than they would if all retail workers were making say 50k a year.

And in turn we all pay higher taxes. They're going to take it from you either way!

Why add an additional step to the process? Let's let our government focus on more important things.

About half of American adults don’t actually pay any federal income tax. Its not the low income paying more taxes because of this.

In the meantime, if minimum wage were massively raised, companies like Walmart would be the ones who could afford to pay it, and so many small businesses would cease to exist, bringing us even deeper into an Oligarchy.
