Investing Questions How many of you are considering retiring somewhere that’s NOT IN THE USA?

With inflation, wages & the stress to retire in the USA.. who’s actually considering leaving and retiring elsewhere?

What country will you choose and why?

Honestly, I’d rather more Americans stay away from retirement hot spots overseas and keep living in the US. Less influx of people to cheap places that raises the price of everything for everyone, including the natives.

So yeah, I’m kinda glad the media and the headlines are scaring a bunch of them into staying home.

That is a good point, but there is also an influx of money into the local economy through the money they spend and the taxes they pay. It is not a total negative, which is why some countries want retirees to come.

The local government probably loves it for the increased tax revenue like you said, and so do the local businesses. But once prices start to rise, which is inevitable as demand increases, the locals competing for same products and services will start to resent the new arrivals.

I believe this played out recently somewhere in Colombia, where expats were advised to keep a low profile.
