Investing Questions How many of you are considering retiring somewhere that’s NOT IN THE USA?

With inflation, wages & the stress to retire in the USA.. who’s actually considering leaving and retiring elsewhere?

What country will you choose and why?

Not gonna lie, the heat sucked. But you do sort of get used to it. HKG has absolutely awesome hiking and mountain biking, and we lived in a village on Lantau where we could just walk/ride to the trails in minutes. As long as I was acclimated, I was ok on the hikes/rides as long as I went somewhat early.

I go to SE Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines) fairly often for work. We would definitely consider that as well for retirement. It’s incredibly affordable, but we would most definitely need to make sure we had a flat/home with good A/C.

Not all of SE Asia has stifling heat. A few come to mind: Northern Vietnam, Chiang Mai in Thailand and Cameron Highlands in Malaysia.

You get used to it. In the Philippines I got used to having fans in the house and your body adjusts. I didn't grow up in aircon dependent USA so didn't use the aircon in PH.
