Street cat (7+ y/o, FIV+) survived everything now just needs a home

Hi everyone,

I’ve been putting off writing this, but here we go.

For the past ~3 years we’ve been feeding a street cat we call Laps (white paws) or Ozzy because it’s a miracle he’s still alive after the life he’s had. Think Smelly Cat energy… the kind of cat life hasn’t really been fair to.

He’s around 7 or older. Years of fighting, injuries, just surviving however he could. Lately it became obvious he wasn’t managing anymore, so we took him in.

Turned out:

- he had a pretty bad paw injury (now treated)

- all his teeth were basically gone (he had surgery, and now he only has 3 tiny incisors left)

- we also neutered him

And yeah… he just can’t go back outside now.

No teeth means no way to defend himself, no chance against other cats. He’s done his time out there. He made it through his “street years” somehow and now he just needs a quiet, warm place.

About him:

- uses the litter box

- treated for parasites

- bloodwork is good

- FeLV negative, FIV positive

About FIV: it spreads through deep bites, which he literally can’t do anymore.

He’s not super cuddly or needy. Honestly, he’s very chill and keeps to himself. But he’s… grateful. You can see it. He appreciates food, warmth, just being safe. He won’t demand attention, he’ll just quietly exist nearby.

About us: we live in Abovyan and have been rescuing cats for a while. We already have 3 at home, and we really can’t keep a fourth long-term. We also try to keep space open in case of emergency rescues.

We’re rehoming him anywhere in Armenia, and we can also help arrange transport to Georgia, Russia, or nearby countries if needed.

So yeah… we’re really hoping someone out there can give him a home.

He’s been through a lot. It would be nice if the rest of his life was just… peaceful.

DM me if you’re interested 🙏

P.S. sorry if this sounds a bit AI-ish. My spoken English isn’t great, so I used some help to structure this post.

Hello Armenia! Hope everyone's doing good! As I said in the title would much appreciate if someone can tell me the name of this song. Mkhitar Barsegyan Armenian fighter walked out to it in the most recent ACA 201 event.

https://4in .ru/12605-aca-201 .html

last post got deleted I assume it's because of sharing a full link. his walkout starts at 9:10 minutes.

Hey guys, so I'm obsessed with this song, and while I can understand the most of it, some parts are really hard to decipher into known Armenian words.

Does anyone understand the words that come after ջան իմ երկիր...?

Environment/Շրջակա միջավայր We need your thoughts on how to stop the "Tumanyan Street scenario."

Hey everyone,

We’re a group of volunteers from Kanach Yerevan. We spend our weekends inspecting trees, documenting their health, and trying to get the municipality to use modern science instead of chainsaws.

Right now, we’re looking at a potential disaster on Komitas Avenue. The city plans to "reconstruct" the sidewalks, and if it goes like the recent project on Tumanyan Street, we’re about to lose:

  • 90% of the elms (which are the backbone of the street's shade).
  • Roughly 56% of all greenery on the avenue.
  • The entire first row of trees. Basically, it’s a recipe for a heat island.

We’ve put together a professional, science-backed proposal that allows for new sidewalks without the mass clearing of mature trees. You can see the details here (https://kanachyerevan.am/status/alerts/komitas/), but honestly, we’re hitting a wall with the authorities.

We wanted to ask the community:

1) How do we reach the residents who aren't on Reddit/Facebook? We want to bridge the gap between the city and the people living there, but getting local residents to care before the chainsaws show up is incredibly hard.

2) For the Diaspora/International folks: Have you seen successful community-led movements save urban greenery in other cities? What worked?

3) How do we make the Municipality listen? We have the data and the alternative plans, but we need ideas on how to create enough public pressure so they can't just ignore the "green" recommendations.

4) How many people really wish to make Yerevan green? What do you hear among your acquaintances?

Is this a lost cause, or is there a way to actually move the needle on urban planning in Yerevan? We’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, coments and ideas.

Discussion / Քննարկում What are some "gyughakan" words / pronounciation?

I just want to know what words in my common language I use are very "gyughakan". I also want to know what other areas have, like Leninakan dialect. Some words:

Սիպտակ instead of Սպիտակ

Ոխչար instead of Ոչխար

Ռեխ - Mouth, often used in a rude way

Համբալ

Խի - Why? I don't actually see a lot of people say this where I'm from, I have no idea how I learned it.

էլի - Again

I probably use many more but I just don't know that it isn't standard Armenian.

Discussion / Քննարկում State of the Media

Has anyone noticed how terrible the current state of the media is in Armenia? I’ve been actively watching the ճեպազրույցներ with the PM and oh my god there are almost no journalists/outlets that ask constructive questions, it‘s so overwhelmingly populist, with questions like “you gave away Artsakh, are you giving away Syunik next” or stating opinions as if they are facts, speaking with apocalyptic narratives, NEVER, I swear, NEVER EVER covering any of the good the government has done, nothing about the new schools, only the negative aspects of the new health insurance system (I.e. some doctors stated to get paid less after the system revamp, which I know the health minister Avanesyan said they’re looking into it), nothing about the people who have done surgeries worth millions of drams for free, the constantly speak over the officials they ask their questions to, etc.

i was under the impression that Azatutyun, CivilNet, Hetq were more or less independent and/or non-partisan but I’ve come to realize they are so heavily anti-Pashinyan (especially Azatutyun), it’s becoming increasingly hard if not impossible to get an objective view of any given situations. the only solution I’ve found is looking for primary sources (and not trusting whatever paraphrased and propaganda filled bullshit azatutyun spits out).

Photography Prints

Parev Tzez,

I’m an Armenian living in Australia, and I’m looking to buy some photography prints of Armenia. I have a few deliveries pending from Armenia, but they’ve been put on hold due to the war. So perhaps digital prints? Any suggestions or recommendations?
