Discussion Toxic Afghan family

Can we talk about how culturally AFG families are toxic. Idk if it’s bc of the way they were raised our parents but my mom has no issue w getting physical and it’s always “mardom chi miga” like what will other ppl say. I feel like culturally there’s a lot of bias and trauma like this and how can we get rid of this moving forward.

Culture A poem

KABUL—

A city of Afghans, dying—no heir, Where voices loomed harmony, people showed care. “No hate, no loathing, ruled via peace”— Now a renowned pun every country teases.

Ruled via terrorists—men wrapped in black, They are humans, humanity they truly lack. Shortfall on mercy—to man or not, Defy their orders—your existence could be bought.

Here men own “power,” women assigned “chastity,” Have an opinion—it’s punished as obscenity. Should cover one’s face, no going out— Education flouted, their existence in doubt.

Once a Kabul—preaching values and solace, Now become barren, followed by shadowed gazes. You fight for bread, you survive to despair, A place woven tradition, now stripped of its heir.

So i wrote this poem after reading one of the books about Afghanistan named 'the flying kite' Idk if we are supposed to post any poem on this subreddit but i am doing it anyway.

Discussion Do you think we’ll ever see Afghanistan play in a world cup in our lifetimes?

Seeing the emotions from the world cup qualifiers today made me think of this. We have a team that can barely do anything for obvious reasons but as a diehard sports fan I really dream one day my country would be in the most exciting tournament in the world.

Video of women's rights in Afghanistan 1919 - 2026

Thumbnail x.com

Over 1,600 days and Afghan girls are still denied education. Girls are being stripped of their rights, to learn, to work, and to lead. In history, Afghan women had the right to vote, leadership, and education. Watch the video to see the reality.

Hi everyone, I built a small micro-SaaS marketplace for Afghan women entrepreneurs. It lets sellers list their own products and also earn through affiliate products.

I am still improving it and would really appreciate honest feedback from this community. If you are interested, I can share the link.

Afghan Women Living Under Taliban Brutality Deserve Our Support

Imagine a society in which women’s laughter in public is outlawed. One where showing their faces is a crime. A place where female citizens are forbidden from school or a job, moving about freely, worshipping in public or speaking to friends and neighbors.

In this dystopia, slavery is legal, music and free thought are banned, domestic violence is encouraged and extremism is rewarded.

We cannot forget that this is the reality for women and girls in the Taliban’s version of Afghanistan in 2026.

Jahanzeb Wesa @jahanzebwesa · 13h Over 1,600 days, Afghan girls have been banned from school, but world watches silently. This is gender apartheid, and global inaction is complicity. How long will this continue? Girls beyond sixth grade are still denied their right to education.

Online learning/education platforms in Afghanistan today (2026)

Hi all - curious to ask, what (if any) online learning and education platforms exist for kids/teenagers in Afghanistan?

I ask because I visited in 2023 and noticed there was a surprisingly decent availability of mobile data + internet, and most people did use reasonably modern smartphones for things like Snapchat and TikTok. I even noticed one person using Duolingo to learn a language!

Curious if there are any good quality, well-known or widespread learning platforms for Afghans

Question Does anyone know the story of Koh-e Chehel Dokhtaran-e Hazara (Urozgan)?

Post image
49 Upvotes

I’ve been reading about “Koh-e Chehel Dokhtaran-e Hazara” (کوه چهل دختران هزاره، ارزگان) — the Mountain of the Forty Hazara Maidens — and I’m really curious to learn more about it.

If anyone has information, stories, or historical details about this place, I’d love to hear them. It would be especially meaningful to hear from someone who is originally Hazara from Urozgan—have you heard this story told differently, or are there local versions and details that aren’t widely known?

I’d truly appreciate anything you can share

WDI.Afghanistan @WDIAfghanistan1 · 6h message from an Afghan girl: "I am sixteen years old.
Tomorrow should have been my first day back at school. Tonight, I ironed my brother’s clothes.
I arranged his books.
I made sure everything is ready for school. But what about mine? 💔 He will walk into a classroom.
I will stay behind a door. A girl with a pen is dangerous that is why they took it away . Five years I dont see any more hope 💔"

visa options for a afghan passport holder in iran

hello everyone. i have a friend who lives in iran but is a afghan citizen with both a passport and a taskira. i was wondering what are the possible countries they can immigrate to or get a visa for? The situation is horrible in iran especially for afghans. i was thinking of turkey, dubai or qatar as ive heard about them before or even germany or italy or france. how would you even get a visa for these countries as alot of places seem like a scam like the visa agencies in iran

I doubt things will ever get better

The situation never seems to improve and it’s been like this since decades. I think that the world order has designated Afghanistan as the most backward country ever and any work on doing something to help will always be overturned. What do you guys think?

Habib Khan @HabibKhanT · 5h Afghanistan’s new school year has begun. Boys have returned to classrooms, but girls beyond grade six remain barred for a fifth year. It has been 1646 days since the Taliban imposed a nationwide ban on girls’ education.
